4th Cumulative WW2 Quiz

I actually investigated Pykrete for my physics A-level.....it's only really effective in large quantities, and using proper water-absorbing sawdust (and not mdf sawdust)

How would they manage to uh steer and power the ice carrier ? It would have had some huge tonnage to support heavy bombers.

i believe it was the italians was it not?

The SS did and they went and paterned the designed and the wehrmach had to pay a for each uniform they made. The US were next however due to certain friendlyfire incidents all uniforms were deployed to the pacific front instead.

i thought the italians did it and then the germans did and then the marines did... it was a reversible one. And they also did use some camo on DDay...

Soviet scouts used an "amoeba" pattern smock, and soviets were also given rare and prized white winter clothing

Alright, easy question: what organization was the first to use camoflauge patterned clothing?

these guys of course!

I always thought it was italy who started it in the '20s

well there was camouflage in WWI too, coming from the UK, but that doesn't count right?

well, i'm curious now.

I believe it was the British SAS?

As far as I know, the best they did was to use khaki, which, while not being the bright blues the French marched into battle in 1914 with, wasn't exactly camoflauge, either, it just made them less blatantly obvious.

Wasn't it during the Boer Wars?
Edit: Silly me, it's a WWII Quiz, is that?

That was unintentional. The dust made their clothing the same color as the ground.

I believe it was the British SAS?

No.

The Germans started using the camouflaged Zeltbahn shelter quarter back in 1931 and that was often worn over the normal uniform.

It is German, privatehudson, but seeing as this is a WWII quiz, your guess predates it a bit.

My thinking was that since it remained in use up until the 50s the organisations that used it, namely the Heer, Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe would have used it from the day Germany attacked Poland. I suppose its possible that depending on your definition of clothing, or the start of WW2 that this item doesn't count, but I'd be intruiged as to what answer you have.
