That was my first thought when I saw the thread title.

You Liberarians really need top swallow your pride and vote Democrat in 2008 and save yourselfs from becoming a fundamentalist Christian state. Either that or actually beat the Republicans!

You Democrats could swallow yours you know. :crazyeye:

This is the same reason I never ask a mechanic about medical information, or an astronomer about banking. Let's face it, a person who is not a scientist is not qualified to make decisions about science education, because they just don't know! Why was a survey not conducted about whether the humoral theory of disease should be taught in medical schools? Oh, right! BECAUSE NOT EVERYONE KNOWS ENOUGH ABOUT MEDICINE TO COMMENT!!!

Religion has no place in schools, much less in science. Public schools are funded by just that, the public, after the money passes through the state, and when last I looked, Separation of Church and State was still in effect, so take that religion *%!& elsewhere.

Creationism gives the dumb kids some tests they can pass.

if I were in a SNish mood, I'd say that they should replace evolution with creationism. you know: lesser educated america -> weaker america -> stronger europe ;)

You're forgetting the "nutty stooges with nuclear missiles" step.

If weapons of apocalyptic magnitude don't belong in the hands of religious fundementalists, then who should they belong to?

"Sure, we're religious fundamentalists holding weapons of apocalyptic magnitude. But we're your religious fundamentalists holding weapons of apocalyptic magnitude."

This disturbs me greatly as a Catholic! What is worst about this false dichotomy is that it may forever destroy the notion that God and evolution are compatible.
The two are not compatible. You must either agree with one or with the Other. The Bible clearly shos that Creation is the only way, whereas Evolution is the exact opposite and a denial of God. You cannot deny God and worship him at the same time. There is not sitting on the fence, Either say that evolution is fact and deny God or deny Evolution and believe in God.

Hu, you know, believing in God doesn't mean taking the Bible litterally...

There is this whole metaphorical thing and the whole "Bible was writtent by humans" too...

It's perfectly possible to both believe in God and understand evolution...

This is absolutely the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard, hands down...And let's talk about bias, the poll was conducted by a religious based research firm! With gas closing in on $4/gallon, religion creeping into my schools, still in a *&$&%^@# war we shouldn't be in (regardless of insurgency, police action, or whatever *#&%^#^ spin they want to put on it), and facing an ever spiraling wave of disgusts and anti-american sentiment; I cannot WAIT for the chance to vote this bible thumping crackpot out of office and start the long drawn out path back to a country we can feel proud about.

An incidentally, I voted against his father, against him the first time, and against him the second time as well. Moroninc imbecilic waste of human flesh that he is.

Rant over, and may we somehow muddle through this mess soon before its too damn late.

My fiery and vitrolic 2 cents on this overwhelmingly stupid matter.

For those who can't fathom how this is not a stupid matter: go read your first amendment rights and the constitution for a matter...assuming you haven't burned all the books yet.

64%? I find that number hard to believe.
As a US citizen by birth, I agree. The number is much higher. (Assuming we are talking about percentage of idiots.)

Creation is not scientific, and therefore should not be in science class. OTOH, the ToE isn't terribly scientific either. Unless you subscribe to Popper (IE 'pop' science) Theory, there's no way to test anything an evo-bio claims. Curriculums ought to include the fact that all of the data pointed to by the ToE as 'evidence supporting the ToE' also supports Day-Age Creationism.

(Creationism is true, but there's no science in it. Some things science simply cannot explain.)

As Elrohir doesn't seem to understand is that Creationism isn't science, and Evolution is. Even if Creationism is true, the best scientific explaination still lies in Evolution, and as Creationism is unprovable is will remain in science. I am more inclined to believe evolution, as more evidence suggests this.

I wonder, does Elrohir deny the existance of all the medical and biological advances that an understanding of evolution and genetics has granted us?

i think its 64% is the result because a RELIGIOUS FOUNDATION CONDUCTED THE RESEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NEWS FLASH. Science isn't about denying God, people! Science is about finding the truth!

Truth is, even though Evolution may have some evidence, we should teach inteligent design because WE DON"T KNOW HOW EVERYTHING WAS CEATED! It should be taught as a theory, and anyone who says inteligent design should'nt be taught as a theory is just anti-religious, and doesn't want religion to get to the people. We need to keep an open mind to ALL posibilities , people! I'm disappointed that so many of you are so closed minded that you don't want God to be taught as a theory in Science class.

Also everything was created by the Flying Spaghetti Monster.May His Noodly Apendage touch those 64% of Americans.

Your logic is flawed. Christians were really closed minded during the Crusades, and middle ages, and look how people remember them!

Edit: What's this thing about fortresses anyway? Keeping fair education out of the class room, and teaching our children that there is no God is science?
