93 movie remakes in the works...

Looks terrible.

Besides, Sigourney made the old movie work. She was mega-hot at the time :yup:

To be fair I don't think you can really count any new Batman films, or other comic-based films, as a "remake". They're just another adaptation. Still annoys me that people kept calling Dredd a "remake" of the Stallone version, despite it having nothing to do with it at all.
I strongly disagree on this. They rebooted both Spiderman and Superman. It's not like they radically changed their origin stories AFAIK. So I don't really know what else you would call them but a remake.

I don't consider the endless list of sequels remakes because, well, they are sequels and AFAIK, they are not directly re-telling stories in the sequels the way they do with origin stories.

In any case, I'm really freaking tired of the endless parade of superhero movies. Can't wait for that bubble to finally pop and we can go a few decades without a ton of superhero movies - kind of like what happened with westerns.

Correction: She is always hot.

Re-adaptations I suppose. They're not remaking the old film, they're making a new film based on the same source material.

I think reboot is a better description: any attempt to cash in on nostalgia for old IPs in new creations. Can include remakes, sequels to decades' old moves, reimaginings, retellings, etc.

I must be the only person in the world who doesn't think it looks all that bad...

Well that goes without saying.

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is getting a film adaptation. So that's:

An film adaptation of an amusement park ride adapted from a cartoon adapted from a book.

My favorites are when a movie gets adapted from a book which spawns a game which spawns a film/tv adaptation of the game.

Or in the case of Street Fighter: A game that spawns a terrible movie, which spawns a terrible game based on the movie that was based on the game.

Street Fighter (overall indeed a crap film) had Raul Julia, though. Sadly it was also his final movie. RIP :(

"For you, the day that Bison graced your village was the most important day in your life. But for me it was Tuesday".

edit: not sure if you meant the same movie; that one was Streetfighter2, and the original streetfighter (game) was quite different.

Remakes should be of films that did not quite work. An example would be the remake of The Fly. Improved visual effects, improved writing, better actors, whatever. They can mean a good movie over a memorable B movie, or they can be wasted, eg Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Cube: Why? There are already two sequels. The first one was claustrophobic and creepy, and while I realize it's pretty tame compared to a lot of psychological thriller movies, I found it plenty scary. And if anyone's interested, there's some decent Cube fanfic on fanfiction.net.

As a thriller there isn't much to it, I agree.

Love it as social commentary, though.

The Fly is a classic :)

I am not much of a Cronenberg fan, and have only seen 4 of his films i think. My favorite is by far "Spider", with Ralph Fiennes and two other very good actors.
