Political Cartoon, From Winnipeg in the Metis Republic
Marécage Cloutier : Cloutier Swamp/Cloutier's Swamp
Là il est! : There it is!
L'Économie: The Economy
The cartoon depicts Parti Syndiqué Leader Serge Sauvage fishing the economy out of the mire it has been in since the massive economic collapse during the cloutier years, which halved the economic strength of the Métis. This year, we have finally exceeded our previous peak, and have reached a new level of economic power.
The odd sign over his hair is something of a Métis in-joke. It is understood to be a feather in the hair, and a Fleur de Lys. Such a sign represents those who have 'a foot in both worlds', trying to identify as both Native and European. Many Métis view this as a good thing and part of their heritage, while many others choose to identify exclusively with one ancestry, and use the plume (feather) de lys a a joking satire

We would like to make sure that our revolution for independence comes about with freedom without bloodshed. We hope that you will recognize our freedom without a military response, though we are prepared to defend ourselves. Mesopotamia has seen enough of war over the past decades and it would be to all of our advantage to allow us our sovereignty as a fellow Islamic state.

Lord Iggys political cartoon was accepted over that of flyingchickens for the reason that flyinchicken already posted his on the thread. As people have already had a greater chance to see that, it would be unfair not to display the newer one. As before, I continue to request that political cartoon submissions are sent via private message if you want them included in a update.
