What happened to Monsieur Lyons?

It's going to be part of a series of stories about France. Mainly the two rebels who escaped because writing about rebels is more fun than writing about Fuhrers. And let's just say Lyons isn't quite out of the picture. ;)

That's not very nice Andy :(

But I understand how you could have me confused for a character - er, rather, collection of millions and millions of characters - which I play in a game. Tell you what: I'll slap a disclaimer on my signature so people don't mistake my amazingly slanted and strangely varying from NES to NES views for my own.

Dang. Using 20 Million as my population benchmark (about Ottoman population OTL world war one), and 50/50 split, also barring population growth, my population decreased 15%, male population 30%, and my sex ratio became 41:59.

I just realized a large portion of that 3 million who died were foreigners though. I would estimate at least 1 million of them. My manpower at the start of the war was 400 including mobilized, ended with like 40 with I think 20 per turn. That's a total of 560 manpower, or about 1.7 million men. Rounding to 2 million, thats only a 10% reduction in population/20% reduction in male population and creates a 44:56 ratio, little better.

Anyways at current rates it'll be another 4-5 years (1929/1930) to reach pre-war manpower levels. This is 12/13 years after the war ended, and 21/22 years after it began.

We have the right to support who believe to be the legitimate government of China. Just as you have, the right to support your rebellion. Your declaration is admission of your breaking of international law as you know those ships were armed to protect themselves from pirate attacks by your submarines. So we both know you declaration changes nothing, it is just an admission of your guilt.

We have previously stated that we will reciprocate in actions other nations take against us. Therefore, we will stop all Swedish flagged ships within 20 miles of our borders. Any Swedish ships found to be carrying supplies to republican rebels in China will be seized and their crews detained.

Be reasonable. The Union is not the legitimate heir to the Chinese government - they have consistently lied and have prolonged the war. We recommend that the South Americans consider another nation for once instead of focusing on their own selfish agenda - the Republic is clearly the best option for Chinamen.

How is it that you are capable of being so unselfish and so objective in your agenda? Are you to say that you have no agenda of your own? You just know that the ROC would be more willing to fill your coffers than the UCC. This is merely an investment opportunity for you; pay some now, and you'll be repaid with interest! You are no more objective than us South Americans. UH!

There is no reason to be so insulting to Argentina just because they have a different opinion yours. No matter how we feel about you, we are always to treat you with civility that is to be expected in diplomacy.

Regarding China. The republic is merely a collection of warlords who are collaborating for their own self-interests. They will stop at nothing to secure their power, even it means selling themselves to Korea. However, as we have recently seen that collation easily turns on itself.

The UCC represents true stability and unity for the Chinese people. The Chinese people are revolting against the Republican government because they desire to join their brothers and sisters in the UCC, because they all people will be equal.

Finally, we can where French support has gotten China. Overrun by Russia, overrun by Korean. European powers in control of most her important coastal cities, and twenty years of civil war. France is definitely no friend of China.

We rose up for two reasons: to free China from the yoke of capitalism that has oppressed the peasantry and to free China from European rape. Your "interest" in the Qing Empire led to China's weakening. You promised prosperity and peace, but we got oppression and decline. Then, when the Qing was carved up by you fools and it fell, you set up a new puppet government that is known as the Republic of China. And then, we rose up to expel you imperialist dogs from our homeland.

P.S. It's comments like that that made you lose your Olympic bid. Why Paris was nominated in the first place escapes me.

You mean the best interest for you imperialists? Learn your history, Italians. When you were France's ally, the Kingdom of Italy, you were a rising power with a growing empire. Then, France put a knife in your back, destroyed your empire, and even took your northern lands and the Eastern Adriatic. Then, you won them back in the war, and now, you're France's best friend. You're too blind to see the devastation they have caused you.

Despite the best efforts of our translators, we were unable to deliver your message to our bull**** collections. Frankly, bull**** can't communicate, and even if it could, we doubt whether it would be interested in your message. We suggest that you seek mental help, since talking to inanimate objects really isn't normal:crazyeye:. The truth is, it's creeping us out:eek:, so stop sending messages to our bull**** collections. If you must, talk with your own bull**** collections. I'm sure they have a lot to say.:p

This made me chuckle.

Where to begin?

First of all, we never promised the Qing anything but protection - protection from without, which is precisely what we gave. They made it abundantly clear that their internal affairs were their own business and we were led to believe they could handle any wayward warlords. We and they were wrong with disastrous consequences.

This war had almost ended, and were it not for your petty grievances and anarchistic standoffishness then it would have ended. That is why the world blames you, and your own inability to provide for your citizens or care about their well-being is why more and more Chinese are supporting the Republic as your decaying government falls to its knees. You may get amnesty if you surrender now, indeed the people would love you for it, but if you prolong it any further then you will only sign millions more Chinese to their death.

To: SUSA
From: France

We respect SUSA, at least, because we respect power. But we bid thee, pray, see reason. The UCC is not the hope of the Chinese people. The UCC has caused the death of many millions and outwardly has no care for their lot. In fact, there is no guarantee that the average Chinaman will have a say in the running of their government. They are a regime which is in every way worse than the forces you say you oppose, and Chinese freedom can never exist for as long as it does.

The Republic, on the other hand, has publicly proclaimed the involvement of the individual, on the model of other famous and successful democracies like France, New England, Russia. They are the embodiment of the Chinese people's will, and the nation cannot be stopped. You are wasting everyone's time but especially your own in keeping up the dread government of the Union of Chinese Collectives.

As for your impolite remarks regarding China's eventual fate, we must admit we had no hand in that. Traitors at home and abroad sought to bring down France, and in the process we failed our allies. We are not proud. But we shall avenge them.

OOC: We happen to be allied in the China conflict. ;) sorry lemme edit that. France shared the msg with us at a strategy meeting so we could all have a good laugh.

To UCC
From Italy

Yes France treated Italy harshly when it was the Imperium. Once the war happened they basically gave us the Peninsula back and then some, they treated Italy better during the conditional surrender after the Great War than our so called allies did. We then helped them throw off the yoke that was the Imperium and the current legitimate government of France has been nothing but friend to the Republic. We suggest that you do not understand Italy as well as Italians do. However we do take the word of the Republic of China, which is not a collection of warlords but a progressive and legitimate government for the people's of China.

You think we didnt know that? Allies is one thing, reading letters addressed to France is odd, im sure your friends can argue your case on their own if it is valid it will hold they dont need their pawns sucking up it simply dilutes the talks with pointless noise.

From: The Republic of China

We appreciate your continued support for our government, however if it has not become obvious already, the Communists' delusional view of history has warped their minds beyond being reasonable. We have decided it is best not to engage in diplomacy with them until they are ready to speak of surrender.

Oh please. It was funny at first but you can stop now. You have no idea how many times I would like to point out that there what you're complaining about in the entire course of the NES. There must be dozens of other examples of nations stepping in and responding to diplomacy or understanding diplomacy they have no part in. I suggest you go through all 186 pages of this thread, find every example of diplomatic infidelity, and compile them into one big post for horsewhipping before you choose to bring it against the Axis as a strawman. 'Kay? 'Kay.

Have you smoked too much opium? At least we didn't call on our former worst enemy (we've taken that dubious honor now, Korea) to raid China again. That proves you aren't the best government. You are a corrupt collection of warlords looking for pure self-interest. Your first elections were two years ago. Hardly democratic if you ask me.

And on suspending diplomacy with me: Do it. Maybe my office can have some peace for once.
