TENNESSEE WAR COMES TO A CLOSE. Danville, Republic of the Cumberland. After years of conflict, peace has finally arrived in central North America as delegates from over half a dozen nations meet to end the war. Representatives from Georgia, Tennessee, Franklin, Kentucky, Virginia, France, Ohio, and Saulk-Fox have met in the town of Danville to announce a closure to fighting. A plebiscite has been held to determine the fate of the remnants of the Tennessean empire. Tennessee has voted to join in union with Kentucky and Franklin in a democratic republic, though several pro-Jackson papers have claimed tampering occurred with the ballots. Mississippi Territory voted to rejoin Georgia, though once more, many believe that tampering has occurred. Riots have broken out in Nashville, and the newly formed Army of the Cumberland has moved to quell them. Virginia has exited the war peacefully, retaining southern Carolina and its territorial integrity, though many Virginians dislike the new regime to their west.
TEXAS GAINS INDEPENDENCE. Harrisburg, Texas. After heated negotiations and the threat of a major war in the Caribbean, influence from New England and New York forced a plebiscite upon Mexico. In spirited voting, over 70% of the population in the disputed regions voted to create a new independent Republic of Texas. Mexico has recognized the new nations freedom and Texas is now free to pursue its own course. A good number of provinces which werent in open rebellion have also voted to join the fledgling republic, as much of the area was populated by whites and natives who resented the government in Mexico City. This agreement has also seen the end of the military rebellion in Mexico, and reconciliation is once again expected to take place.
SECOND CONNECTICUT WAR. Boston, Republic of New England. Following the establishment of Cameroon in Africa and threatening Connecticut diplomacy, the armies of New England have once more invaded Connecticut. After several years of training and modernizing, the New Englander armies have easily smashed the forces of the king. In Rhode Island, the New England armies have been welcomed as liberators and In Hartford, the Connecticut navy was captured without a fight. The New England Congress has called for annexation of Connecticut and immediate surrender of the kings colonies. In regards to international relations, New England has pledged to uphold deals with Oman and Siam which had been signed by Connecticut.

ARGENTINE EXPEDITION TO SOUTH POLE VANISHES. Buenos Aires, Argentina. A gallant expedition was outfitted in the early months of 1837 in preparation for an attempt to reach the South Pole. After departing Buenos Aires to cheering crowds, the expedition was never heard from again. The last sighting was by British fishermen near the Falkland Islands, and it is believed that the expedition was lost to treacherous weather.
YUCATAN POLL RESULTS. Mexico City, Mexico. Following the Mayan Nationalists Partys victory in Congressional elections, the government of Mexico called for a poll to determine how much of Yucatan wished to leave. The results of the poll were overwhelmingly in favor of creating an independent Yucatan nation. Protests throughout the peninsula have declared that if the Texans can vote to leave, so should the Yucatan.

NEW MONARCH IN BRITAIN. London, British Empire. The British Empire mourns the death of King William IV, who led Britain to victory over the powers of Europe. In his place, his niece, Alexdrina Victoria, has been proclaimed Queen Victoria. This has had lasting ramifications across the Empire. In Germany, William IVs brother, Ernest Augustus has been proclaimed an independent King of Hanover due to inheritance laws which prevent Victoria from being ruler of Hanover.
CARLIST WAR. Madrid, Spain. Isabellan forces have suffered a defeat in the east as Carlist forces, who outnumbered the Isabellans, smashed a division and sent the army running. This has been slightly offset by successes in the west, as Isabellan loyalists secure Spains northwestern coastline. At sea, Carlist ships have managed to break through the blockade and have even struck at some Isabellan shipping, sinking a frigate.

PEACE IN ITALY. Turin, Sardinia-Piedmont. After months of negotiations, France, the Papal States, and Sardinia-Piedmont have brought about peace in northern Italy. Sardinia-Piedmont has been established as a protectorate of France, while making minor territorial concessions to the Papal States. A portion of the Sardinian fleet has also been granted to the Papal States, as Sardinia relies on French protection from foreign threats. This Treaty of Turin has finally brought about the end of fighting in Italy caused by the Austrian War.

DANES ESTABLISH COLONY IN AFRICA. Christiansenburg, Danish Empire. Under guidance from the monarch, Danish explorers and colonists have established a new colony near the Connecticut colony of Niger. Though the resources of the region are scarce, the settlers have managed to eke out a bare existence through subsistence farming. The colony has become very popular among the few Danish Catholics who find the region a refuge from the Protestant dominated mainland.
CONNECTICUT CONTINUED IMPERIAL EXPANSION. New Providence, Connecticut Empire. Prior to their nations collapse at the hands of the New Englander invasion, settlers from Connecticut established the colony of Cameroon in response to the colony of Liberia. With the onset of war between Connecticut and New England, immigration to the colony came to a complete halt. Local New Englander forces even managed to seize the colony with barely any military force.
ZULU WAR. The Europeans powers of Sweden and Britain have been handed a major defeat by the Zulu warriors. Fearsome and numerous, the Zulu have managed to strike deep raids into both colonies. A British division, outnumbered and besieged by the Zulu, who brought several modern cannon to bear, was devastated and slaughtered. Only a handful of survivors escaped from the devastation. Attempts to draw the Zulu into open battle have failed miserably as they strike and then retreat back to their camps.

FIGHTING CONTINUES IN PALESTINE. Jerusalem, Ottoman Empire. Egyptian and Ottoman forces have continued an ongoing stalemate throughout Palestine as armies clash to little purpose. Heavy fighting and casualties have been reported, but so far, no army has achieved a victory which could break the deadlock. Egyptian forces, well trained and prepared for war, have managed to divide and devastate the ragtag and poorly led Ottoman armies, only to be repulsed in smaller actions. Egypt continues to demand that the Ottomans submit to Egyptian calls for rule over Palestine.

NEW SHOGUN IN JAPAN. Edo, Japan. Tokugawa Ienari passed away in bed, and has been replaced by his son, Tokugawa Ieyoshi. The new shogun is despised by many and believed to be weak-willed and unfit to lead a nation. The recent easing of anti-missionary efforts and the admittance of British merchants into Japan has caused tensions to rise. Other attempts by the government to limit the role of the samurai in Japanese society has also caused a growing risk of rebellion in Japan.
NEW DALAI LAMA CALLS FOR INDEPENDENCE FROM CHINA. Lhasa, Tibet. Upon the recent Dalai Lamas death, a new holy man, Khendrup, has taken charge. Much like Vietnam and Joseon, Khendrup has called for a new era of freedom from Chinese dominance. Khendrup has requested that the emperor release Tibet from its ties of tribute to China.
EUROPEANS KILLED IN CHINA. Shanghai, Chinese Empire. Recent activity from Catholic missionaries has been causing upheaval among the peasants of China, who are using Christianity as a rallying point against the emperor. Several of these missionaries were arrested in Shanghai and sentenced to death. However, a brave collection of merchants and soldiers attacked the imperial prison and brought the missionaries to the European quarter of the city. In retaliation the local commander launched an attack against the quarter, inflicting much damage and killing several hundred Europeans. Included among these were over a hundred British civilians, including women and children. Anti-Chinese sentiment is at an all-time high in Europe as many call for dismantlement of the heathen Chinese regime.
BURMESE WAR. Bangkok, Siam. Thanks to the arrival of a large Chinese army, the siege of Bangkok has been lifted. However, this is the only victory which China can claim in the region. With a poorly armed and backward army, as well as a massive supply line, Chinas army has been defeated again and again in western Siam. The Burmese have inflicted increasingly heavy casualties upon the Chinese, threatening to break once more into the heartland of Siam.

VIETNAM DECLARES INDEPENDENCE FROM CHINA. Saigon, Vietnam. The Vietnamese monarchy, with Korean support, has declared its complete independence from China. Vietnam has refused to pay further tribute to China, declaring that its path was to be its own. Offers made to limit Chinese control were firmly rebuffed, calling for complete freedom or war. A new alliance and trading pact with Joseon makes it look as though the Chineses grip on power is slowly slipping away.

@neverwonagame3, your strategy at this time is unworkable, especially in the mountainous regions of which you refer to. There are good reasons why Persia never historically pressed into Central Asia in this timeframe.

@Charles Li, Id highly recommend switching nations, Connecticut has no chance for survival unless intervention occurs.
