A Hypothetical Dilemma

Number 2 is probably best although it is possible number 1 has always liked you but has just been shy or not wanting to disrupt your friendship.

A better option might instead be to lead a world revolution. Once control is secured then you can have who and as many as you want. ;)

I'd flip a coin.

Seeking woman advice from teh interwebz.

Hmmmm

Try the second one. The first one, having known her for a long time, will still be there if it fails.

Although it wasn't officially stated that #2 was interested (just getting close), probably #2. That way, if that crashes and burns, you have someone else who knows you well and is interested, assuming #1 hasn't lost interest.

And because keeping #1 as a friend even if it works out is still acceptable. If they can throw the "just friends" card, so can you! :p

I laughed when I read this because I was in much the same situation. In my case I chose #2 -- and we've been together almost 20 years and have two kids. #1 dropped out of my life when it became apparent to her that I'd moved on and I never saw her again.

So basically, my advice would be to look carefully at your relationship with #1. Does she really want to be with you or does she just not want you to be with anyone else?

Choose whichever one has the most affinity for civ.
(OP situation reminds me of As If…)

I'm a little shocked, a girl thread in which almost everyone is giving good advice.

I'll chime in and vote for girl 2. Girl 1 is bootleg, nanocyborgasm is right, don't even be her friend.

Ok, so there's this girl you like. You've liked her for years, but she's never shown any interest in you, even though you're close friends. So you finally begin to move on when you find this other girl, start hanging out, getting close, etc. Suddenly, the first girl decides she's interested in you, because she realises the competition exists. However, you don't know how committed she would be to a possible relationship. Whereas things with the second girl are going well, but she doesn't know anything about the situation with the first girl, and you feel guilty leading her on without telling her anything. You know you have to make a decision one way or another sooner rather than later, else you'll destroy any chance of a relationship with either.

Which way do you choose?
You have this idea that pursuing both girls will ruin things. That can happen, but only if things get real serious. I assure you completely that at this point things are not remotely serious. Things are only serious when there's been sex and verbalized expressions of love and affection and then some more time beyond that has passed. Potentials for relationships, now matter how emotionally significant, are not serious enough to count. Trust me.

Since I haven't said anything about the actual thread topic yet, Girl 2.
What are you talking about? Harvey Dent is bound by the results of his coin tosses, as he considers chance the only real force for justice in the universe. He would never defy them.
Except he has. :p

This is where you should stop. There are three billion women in the world, and you're going to die. Wouldn't you rather stop wasting your time with emotions like this?

That is the most awesome reply I have ever read.
