For the record, I fully support the Freedom of Speech online at this site.As the chances of me doing anything on there is 0.0-0.001%, I'm quite sure what I think is inconsequential.
In addition, perhaps instead of focusing on extremely specific areas (such as Japan in NESVI) a focus on the "general" idea of that nes should be done first?
If a significant/famous nations list were to be done, I would be more than happy to do something on Israel in StKNES5. Perhaps a similar religions thread could be done? In particular ITNES seems to have an abundance of player created religions.
Sorry Iggy, but I consider the other things basics as well. Some people are better at one thing than another, and to limit everything to a step-by-step, first-things-first agenda would be pretty much a waste of time, talent, and knowledge.
So, after looking at the Wiki some, I've personally come to feel that PBWiki was a poor choice. The format is just generally unappealing compared to the traditional Wiki format seen at, say, Wikipedia. I also notice our entry within the CFC article on Wikipedia has been obliterated. So, after looking around, I've found two possible solutions after looking at Wiki farms that use MediaWiki:
The first (and far more preferable in my opinion) is to try and set up an account with Wikia. Wikia hosts several quality Wikis already such as Memory Alpha, Wookieepedia, and several others. The chief problem with this is Wikia has strong requirements for starting a Wiki; chiefly an active and large community with several editors. Given the decrepit state of the current Wiki, I don't know that we'd qualify for "active". With our community and that of Apolyton, we might have a large enough community to qualify, but that too seems iffy. The concept of NES seems too different to be folded in to other Wikis (that I've seen), like Alternate History, so it might have a shot--if we're dedicated. The upside of this is free hosting without advertisements and a good Wikipedia-type format.
The second option is using Wiki-Site. It also uses MediaWiki (without overly restricting space or content) but has a dedicated administration (whoever registers it) and Google ads on the sidebar--it also isn't quite as professional in appearance. On the upside, it doesn't have any requirements at all in order to use, and most of these restrictions already apply to the PBWiki currently in use.
Personally I think it'd be worth the effort to try and apply for a Wikia wiki, and just transfer existing work there as a serious step up in professionalism, but it would require a strong degree of dedication by our userbase, which I don't realistically expect to get. I figure I might be wrong though, so I'm tossing out the idea. It couldn't be a half-assed thing like the current wiki, so speaking seriously, who would actually be willing to work on such a thing?
The quality of your writing either way (I think it's good, and although I'm generally nonplussed by the whole mascot thing I don't care enough about it to discredit the whole effort by its presence) doesn't really effect the fact that you're the only one writing though, aside from infrequent input by others.
I know I personally am generally just turned off by the look and feel of PBWiki even when vaguely motivated to write something. It just looks... childish. Given some of the responses immediately after it was created I get the feeling that I'm probably not the only one with such feelings towards it. Having something that actually looks like a real Wiki would go a long way toward motivating people to contribute, I think. The look of professionalism--even divorced from the content of professionalism--is a great motivator and boost to morale.
I think that the current system should be continued, then at the point where the NESing community has expanded further, (as in, containing around 100 stable members,) should we reorganize into something larger and more official.
However, I'm willing to be an informal contributor to either system.
