A New Name

Civilization V: Commonwealth.

I think we should stay away from having Beyond in the title so as not to confuse anyone that this has anything to do with Beyond Earth.

I have some powerful words that I think could be a good start, but pretty much everything I've thought about already exists, which makes it kinda awkward :D. Anyways here they are:
Just to clarify, this would be if we went for the 3-4 word approach

Empire
Rule
Kings
World
Power
Trade
Rise
Call
Conquest
Birth
Rebirth
Nation
Dawn

Dawn of Empires has a nice ring to it. I didn't see any games using that title.

Rise of Empires: Rebirth of the Powerful Rule of Kings

From someone who doesn't use the CBP, any poetic name just feels odd to me - given that it's first recognized as an overhaul of sorts. Have to back something descriptive and on-point.

I think maybe a reference to the idea of balance would be a good indicator of the aim of the pack. A word like Harmony or Equality, perhaps contrasted against a more "power"-y word, might be interesting.

Some kind of funny or at least interesting wordplay would be good too. Double meanings can make excellent titles.

Is there some reason you can't do [poetic name]: a [descriptive name] mod?

I thought of that, but I was sure it was taken :D

Rise of Empires: Rebirth of the Powerful Rule of Kings
Rise of Empires was something I considered but I feel like it has already been taken.

That works with expansionpacks, which I mentioned was one approach.
Comparable to your piety and prestige or exploration mods, I'd count those as expansions, CBP might be too much of an overhaul for that, unfortunately. I mean when it would be faster to explain what CBP haven't changed rather than what it has changed, you're probably looking at an overhaul.

Besides, your biggest expansion pack, Rise to Power, which is arguably less of an overhaul than CBP does have an overhaul-name instead of an expansion-name :D, in fact it pretty much exactly uses my 3 word formula and 2 of the words from my list :D

I guess look at Civ 4 for overhaul-type naming conventions. Both Caveman2Cosmos and History Rewritten sound like they're overhauls, simply by the connotative breadth invoked in their titles, and indeed they are.

Alright, some good thoughts here. What about:

Community Patch and Overhaul Project. Civ5:CPOP. Close enough to what we have now, and a little more descriptive of what the CP and CBP each (respectively) do.

G

I really like the way CPOP sounds outloud, too.

How about

Civilization V: Aera Nova

(It means "new age". Can be spelled "Era" for simplicity. And yes funak, latin names are cool.)

I like it, but saying Aera Nova in my head sounds too much like the opening theme song, which I've listened to so much that I almost have to mute at this point

Doesn't the theme song say "terra novum et caelum" (new earth and heaven)?

EDIT: Just looked it up, it does

If we're going to have a different name, then we're going to need a name that symbolizes the concept of the Community Patch itself, look at how Civ 5's Expansion Pack went with Gods and Kings emphasizing on religion and Brave New World emphasized on ideologies. What does Community Patch emphasize on to earn its name?

That would be the expansion approach, as I mentioned earlier. The standout new feature for CBP would be the corporations(and monopolies).
The problem with this is that the corporation despite being like the only really new feature fades in comparison to the huge overhaul of Religion, Science, Yields, Military and Happiness. This is kinda why I feel like going the overhaul route compared to the expansion route would be more accurate.

Cool? Maybe.
Pretentious? Absolutely.
Difficult for people to pronounce? Most likely
Descriptive? Not really.
Hard for people to google if they hear a streamer mention it? Most definitely

For as cool as it makes you feel to say it, it is probably not worth the problems it will bring.
I feel like even fairly famous Latin phrases will just cause trouble, we should probably stick to something in English.

Reborn is a mod in Skyrim, overhaul is already used in so many games (for example, Morrowind) that I don't think I'll like another one, although this is definitely an overhaul mod. I want this to be something unique!

Reborn is a mod in Skyrim

'Reborn' is used for at least one mod for every game ever :D

Either way, this is not a decision that should be rushed, a name-change is going to create confusion and possibly lose users either way. Switching to a lame name or having to switch again would be completely unreasonable as it would completely backfire.
This probably means that all Latin phrases (imho :D) and anything completely generic, like "A New Horizon", "Enter the Future" or "Trade and Industry" are out of the question.

Of course this is only my opinion, in the end you do what you want.
