Ok, here's the idea; to have a game where I play a single turn every day and post updates here for people's perusal. Hopefully someone will find something of interest in this daily journal. :)

The settings are as follows:
Allow Conquest Victory
Culturally Linked Start Locations
Preserve Random Seed
Allow Cultural Conversions
Huge Map
Raging Barbarians
Continents with 70% Water
Temperate Climate
4 Billion yr age
Regent difficulty
Normal aggressive

All Civs (including my own) set to Random (Hmmm....wonder what I'll get)
Screenshots to come....as soon as I figure out how.

lol As bad as I am at this game I'll probably be wiped out by the AI in only half that time.

Ok, the game has begun. I've been assigned to the Celts. As I look around me I see a fair amount of snow and ice. Ok....well the Celts liked cold weather didn't they? :)

I don't suppose someone would be so kind as to post a link to a discussion explaining how to add screenshots?

It's a small thing, I think it can be posted here for future reference.

In the game, place the screen where you want and press the Print Screen button (On conventional keyboards, located to the upper right of the backspace key and above Delete). Now open any paint program (MSPaint will do fine), and paste the pciture there. Now save as.. a .jpg or .png or .gif or something (avoid .bmp), then, when posting, look below the reply window (the box you write in) and find the "manage attachments" button - you could also try http://www.imageshack.us.

Yeah, I just learned how to post screenies for my story a few days ago. It's easy once you figure it out.

My problem was that I didn't have any paint programs installed. :D

Anyway, good luck. The Celts are a decent civ, but agricultural isn't very useful without deserts to irrigate. I'll be following this thread.

The year is now 3950BC and my tribe is having a tough time deciding where to settle down and begin their civilization. I am having to use my worker to act as a poor man's scout. Unfortunately with each turn that passes my competitors are sure to use to try establish their hegemonies. Even though my placement may be far from ideal I believe it's imperative to establish my first city asap.

My first city has been established; Entremont. To it's west is a small series of gently rolling hills, to it's south is a cold dark sea which stretches out to beyond our sight, to the east is a large freshwater lake and to the north is a frozen tundra on which caribou roam in vast herds. The Celts have put out the word that it's people need a band of warriors to be formed to defend the city from what is certain to be a hostile world. Rumors abound among the city's craftsmen that bronze; a metallic alloy may be made into tools and weapons of war. Though it will surely take many long years to perfect the techniques involved.

And.....there's absolutely nothing to report, but I said I'd make one posting of my results per day so....here it is. :D

Yes I realize this first week will be excrutiatingly slow but think of it as a tension builder for things to come. ;)

I wish I had the necessary talent to make an entertaining story from this game, but sadly I lack the imagination (and the time) to do so.

Another day passes without anything to report yet. I eagerly look forward to finishing my first build (Warrior) so that I can begin to explore my surroundings. I imagine that some of my competitors are already building their first units by now so I'll need to make up for lost time. The last thing I want is for them to find me before I've found them.

It may not be intense, but that was funny as heck.

'I eagerly look forward to finishing my first warrior.'
'I imagine that my competitors are already building their first units by now so I'll need to make up for lost time.'

That just seems so out of place(in a good way), the tension in a thing like that. Keep it up!

My worker has completed a road to the grassy fields southeast of the capital. It is hoped that increased commerce from that area may be beneficial in researching Bronze making. With it's completion I have ordered that worker to begin building another road, this time leading over the hills to the west.

Two more days untill my first warrior is built. :)

As for playing more than a single turn per day; I rather think that defeats the purpose of this game. I'm trying to build the tension of the game slowly. Too often people are in sooooo much of a rush to get to the good stuff in life that they run right past it without noticing. Patience is a long lost virtue in this world.
