Caterpillar is giving the right advice, but I guess it's somewhat confusing.
The idea here is to have 2 mod folders:
1- The old one (v 1.11 as you said)
2- The new one (v 1.12 as you said)
You may keep both folders in the same place, or in different places. I'll explain how to do it in both ways (I prefer both on same place, that's how I do it):
Option 1: You keep them in different places.
To do that right you must put both your folders in different folders: one in the Mods folder as normal, and the other in any other folder on your computer. If you want to play your old game, be sure the folder that is on your Mods folder is the old version one (1.11). Launch the game and load your save, everything will be fine. Now when you want to play the new version, exchange the places of the folders. First you move away the 1.11 folder in the Mods and put it in another folder (if you put in the same folder of the other version, you'll need to rename things, so avoid putting them on the same folder at the same moment always). Then bring the new version folder from wherever you put it to the mods folder. It's done. Repeat the process eveytime you want to play the different version from the one that is on your mods folder.
The problem with this is that it's hard to discover which folder has which version just by checking files. And you must always track in which folders you are saving those mod versions.
Option 2: You keep them both in the Mods Folder.
Now this is easier. You keep your 1.11 exactly where it is. Then you get the new version and save it somewhere else (just to avoid conflict). When everything is done and you're ready to move the new content, rename the new version folder to something like
RFC Dawn of Civilization - New (it can be any name that's different from the other one, but try to keep the info on the name, like new/old or the version number). After you rename it move the folder normally to the mods folder. Now you have both versions on the mods folder. To switch to the one you want to play you just have to rename the one with the original name (following the order described here, you would get the old version folder and rename it to something like
RFC Dawn of Civilization - Old) and then get the other version folder and rename it to the original name (in our case the RFC Dawn of Civilization - New would lose the " - New" to become
RFC Dawn of Civilization again)
With this method you keep everything in the same place and the folders always tell you which version is being played and which isn't.
All those tricks and stuff are there because of two rules:
1- Two folders with the same name can't be in the same place at the same time (your computer prohibits this);
2- Leoreth's mod (as all mods) can only load its content if its folder in the mods folder is called exactly
RFC Dawn of Civilization. You can't play DoC if its folder has a different name (even if you just put a space after the name, like
RFC A New Dawn ). It must be exactly the name the modder decided to be.
E.G.
With the new version of DoC (that I downloaded), the svn version for the Caliphate and 1.11 for India, my mods folder has 3 DoCs, and right now they are written like this:
RFC Dawn of Civilization
RFC Dawn of Civilization - India
RFC Dawn of Civilization - New
This way I know that 1.11 and the new version aren't active, so the Arab version is the one active. When I decide to check your save game, I'll rename the Arab one (it'll get a " - Caliphate") and then I'll rename the India one to the original folder's name. I hope I've been clear
