To Lothian
From Circind
Greetings to King Loth of Lothian . Circind recognises you and your great influence in the south, and wishes to begin a period of peaceful collaboration between our peoples. Please accept our offer of friendship, and we trust it will lead to greater cooperation and trade.
Be aware that the Romano-British kingdoms would have been Christian at this time, not pagan.

We find it good and right to form mutually beneficial agreements with our Christian brothers in this pagan land. Our offers are as follows.
Firstly, the exchange of formal and permanent diplomats, to reside in our respective courts and facilitate communication between our kingdoms.
Secondly, the creation, maintenance, and protection of proper routes upon which trade can travel between our capitals.
Thirdly, a guarantee of aid should any of us be attacked or harassed by the pagans of this land.
We hope that you can agree to all three of our offers, and that we shall become closer still in the future.

Good day.
We are pleased to see such a wealthy and succesful nation in our neighbourhood and have always been intrigued by your ways. We sincerely hope not that you will fall to a party superior. We have prepared some deals of which we will propose to you:
Rights of Trade - Both of our nations' merchants will be free to trade within each other's nations.
Rights of Passage - We agree that soldiers may move unharmed through all of our nations.
Guarantee of Sovereignity - We guarantee each other independence and recognizes our lords, our kings, the true and rightful owners of our estates.
I hope that you will reply to this letter soon.
Sincerely,
Aldfrith of Lindsey

We have no interests in war with your people we would wish to offer a lasting peace, perhaps we can exchange hostages to insure peace and prosperity.

We are willing to negotiate the sale of a strip of land which would give you sea access. Please respond (via PM or IM) so we may discuss further.

We are pleased that you have agreed to our proposals. The land which you desire to access the sea shall be granted you, as it clearly falls under the second agreement.
The exact nature of this land would be several ports owned and operated by you and your people. We wish we could do more, but your distance from our shores hinders us in this matter.
Alas, you are to far away for a formal alliance to have meaning, but we will also agree to assist you in any way possible should you come under attack, be it from pagans or our fellow Christians.

Our merchants have petitioned me to engage in trade with our neighbors. Thus I request you to allow our merchants into your territories to trade goods, be they cloth, cattle, or gold. We shall reciprocate and allow your merchants access to our territories as well.
And thus may we both prosper.
Signed and Sealed
King Aelle
I did, but it's also correct that all of the Anglo-Saxons would have been pagan. The Romano-British were Christian, and so were the Irish, including Dalriada. The Picts are uncertain.
