Abortion: A Topic Guaranteed To Soothe And Calm People Down
Abortion is such a hot topic for alot of people that I don't like talking about it. But because this is on the internet, I will share my views with the few people that care. I think abortion is a very bad thing, and I would never recommend it to any one. However, banning abortion could very well result in a black market for illicit abortions. Think about it: One day, the Supreme Court overturns Roe vs. Wade[Law in the U.S that legalized abortion. I'm looking at this from an American's perspective.]. Now, all abortions are illegal, and any docter who preforms abortion will be charged with murder. Will the act of aborting a fetus come to a screeching halt? I'm afraid it wouldn't. Abortion has been legal[in the U.S.A.] for at least 25 years. There are people in the medical field who support abortion completly and unconditionally. And there are millions of people[here, in the U.S.] that totally support abortion. Passing a law will not chang the way people think about abortion[or anything else]. Just because the government passes a law doesn't mean people will go along with it. It would be ignored by many people who want to see abortion continued. At first, this black market would be controlled by doctors who support abortion. They would set up shop in places where they can't be caught, like their homes. They might make house calls. The initial price would be determined by the black market, say $1000.00 an abortion. Eventually, this lucrative business would attract amatuers, who have little or no medical experiance. Prices would drop, and more abortions would be preformed by unqualifed people. There would be a sharp increase in abortion related deaths and illnesses. In order to curb the alarming amount of illeigal abortions, politicians might launch a ''war on abortion''. If the drug war was bad, this would be worse. How many more of our freedoms would be striped away to rid the country of abortion? I have to go now, so I'll continue this later.
