Abortion: A Topic Guaranteed To Soothe And Calm People Down

Abortion is such a hot topic for alot of people that I don't like talking about it. But because this is on the internet, I will share my views with the few people that care. I think abortion is a very bad thing, and I would never recommend it to any one. However, banning abortion could very well result in a black market for illicit abortions. Think about it: One day, the Supreme Court overturns Roe vs. Wade[Law in the U.S that legalized abortion. I'm looking at this from an American's perspective.]. Now, all abortions are illegal, and any docter who preforms abortion will be charged with murder. Will the act of aborting a fetus come to a screeching halt? I'm afraid it wouldn't. Abortion has been legal[in the U.S.A.] for at least 25 years. There are people in the medical field who support abortion completly and unconditionally. And there are millions of people[here, in the U.S.] that totally support abortion. Passing a law will not chang the way people think about abortion[or anything else]. Just because the government passes a law doesn't mean people will go along with it. It would be ignored by many people who want to see abortion continued. At first, this black market would be controlled by doctors who support abortion. They would set up shop in places where they can't be caught, like their homes. They might make house calls. The initial price would be determined by the black market, say $1000.00 an abortion. Eventually, this lucrative business would attract amatuers, who have little or no medical experiance. Prices would drop, and more abortions would be preformed by unqualifed people. There would be a sharp increase in abortion related deaths and illnesses. In order to curb the alarming amount of illeigal abortions, politicians might launch a ''war on abortion''. If the drug war was bad, this would be worse. How many more of our freedoms would be striped away to rid the country of abortion? I have to go now, so I'll continue this later. :)

well you have a point there they do that already in china
you may have only one child
they all wanna have a boy
what happens if the baby is a girl?
kill the baby.
in a civilized land they kill babies becuase they are girls.
now that is a big point and thank you monk for mention it

What is so hard about having a women take a pill?

If you can't bother as much as to take a pill, you shouldn't be having relations with another person. Also, abstinance is the best contraceptive.

Odds of getting pregnant with a condom? Low.
Odds of getting pregnant with a birth control pill? Very low.
Odds of getting pregnant by not having sex? NONE.

So if a couple does everything to prevent a baby from coming: condom and pill and the woman still gets pregnant why not allow them to have an abortion. It's quite clear they didn't want a baby so why force them to have one?
So you want them not to have sex right? You're just jealous because you don't have it and you just want to punish others for that! :p

(j/k by the way;) )

I always found this strange about America.

Abortions - Nope that's murder.
Euthanasia - Nope that's murder.
Guns - Function = killing - Fine.
Death Sentence - That's NOT murder.

:crazyeye: Maybe its simply too complicated, but it all seems a little strange to me.

Not All Americans share that view, SixChan. Here is what I think:

Abortions - I think it is murder. But I have to weigh the pros of outlawing it, against the cons of outlawing it. I think it may be a necessary evil right now. Read my above post about the dangers of outlawing it.
Euthanasia -I am undecided on this.
Guns - Function = killing. Wrong. The function of a gun is to propel an object at great speeds. If I leave a gun on my kitchen counter, it will stay there, unless someone moves it.It won't sprout legs and kill people. If I use a gun for target shooting, am I killing something? If a criminal attacks me with a weapon, and I shoot him, is that murder? As for hunting, that is something else entirely, but I won't get into that.
Death Sentence - I think it is murder. I would do away with it.

:D

Guns were invented for the purpose of killing.

Fine, their function is 'to propel an object at great speeds' as you said.
The PURPOSE of a gun then, is killing. Note I didn't write murder in that bit. If you go hunting, you kill the animal. Whether that's murder or not is, as you say, a different matter.

Most Americans (I believe I hit rmsharpe's beliefs on the nose with that) hold that sort of view.

If a criminal is in your house, and you shoot him, you killed him, although not without reason, and not without justification.

Personally:
Abortions - not murder.
Euthanasia - not murder.
Guns - Function = killing - Fine, provided there's a reason.
Death Sentence - That's NOT murder.

gentlemen please this is getting off-topic
we are talking about abortion and not about guns
and i think that abortion is not murder until the foetus developed a nerve system

I can understand what you mean. But, just because guns initial use was to kill, doesn't mean that is their sole purpose. I shoot guns for sport. People collect guns. They are tools, and like any other tool, they can be used to injure and/or kill living things. A drill can[and is] used to kill people. Its primary function is putting holes in things. Guns are used to put holes in things. They have the same function. I know this sounds really stupid, but I just wanted to say that guns are not evil killers, they are just objects. I am getting away from the main topic in this thread, so I will shut up now.

When was the last time you use a gun to put a hole in the wall, to nail up a poster. ;)

Guns don't kill people. People kill people.
Actually.....
"Guns don't kill people. Physics Kill people!!!" - Dick, Third Rock From The Sun.

I was comparing guns to drills, which sounds stupid, but is accurate[IMO]. I am starting a new thread for debating gun control and the function of guns. That way, anti gunners can call me a hick without jacking anybody's thread.:D ;)

Guns are valid entertainment, it's keeping them out of the hands of those that can't control themselves (or the safety of others) that we need to be doing.

When weapons of mass destruction are around...accidents are bound to happen.....it's too big of a risk in my opinion. Regradless of self-control.

But to attempt to get this topic back on course.......

I see no problem with abortion....even into a later stage. As long as the baby is physically attached to the mother.....it's acting like a parsite. Of course...as soon as it's in the real world....it should be put up for aboption is still unwanted.

Of course....I would hope that a unwanting mother would make a choice before then....

I still can't post a new thread. So lets jack this one!
Guns are valid entertainment

They certainly are. Shooting for sport is very relaxing and fun. But, I think that the main reason for gun ownership is self defense. EDIT: Oh, I see. Were back on topic.:( ;)

Given the record of the State in the last century, I would be in favor of severely limiting it[the State], or abolishing it. I would consider giving the government great power to big of a risk. Regardless of self control.
