I never had a "generic avatar", I waited until I hit the 30 days and 30 posts (I had 100 by that time though) before I even put up my old Bahamut Avvie.

Went a year without avatar. Never felt like using the ones in the options. But I felt like my posts looked too plain, so I googled some random stuff and got my first avatar (elmer fudge holding an assault rifle rambo style). Now my avatar says "peace" in Chinese.

The Mayan glyph linked to the royal personage of Bird Jaguar can be credited to some lost artist of the 8th C. The very beautiful, clean rendition of it can be attributed to some kind and talented CFCer who cleaned up my original version. His name too has been lost in the mists of what was December 2005.
If anything, your posts stand out more and mine are more like background noise, like the annoying slight static you might get when listening to the radio.
For the record, this avatar of mine is my first, though it's not my only. I've had two other avatars for brief periods. It probably threw nobody off though.

And he, in addition to many others in the avatar help thread stated that the .png didn't work out and there was a blue background, and asked if you could see it. you instead just took it and ran away from the thread without comment (For the record, do you see the blue background? do you want it as a .gif?)
