About avatars used on the off-topic forum

I wanted something relevant to my username, and since I couldn't find anything good with luceafarul except for a rather naughty one, I settled for Eminescu instead.

I used to have some civ4 avatars, but I got bored with them once I was able to use custom ones, so I've been using Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ones.

I hope you guys know what my avatar is. If you dont then you obviously dont have good tastes in console RPGs.

By "good tastes", do you meant Final Fantasy 1, which has no chocobos at all? :mischief:

All FFs after final fantasy III (The japanese version) Had chocobos.

remember final fantasy III in the U.S is actually final fantasy VI in the japanese list.

What's the story between yuo and Orcas, Rik?
They are cool animals - top predator of the seas, while perfectly save for humans - even for children. Combine that duality with the duality in body coloring plus a pair of funny white spots in the black area.

They are just perfect, wouldn't you say ?

I've got the black hole because I really like the graphic, and because it symbolizes one of my chief interests.

Before this I had the PTW Medieval Infantry, because I thought it a cool image, and before that the Civ2 aquatic mutant monster, for just about the same reason. Also, it was one of the less-used standard avatars in those days.

For a while I had a Maya kaan "snake" glyph, to advertise my Maya scenario for C3C, but I went back to the black hole after a few months.

I've been toying with the idea of switching to a Cthulhu avatar - I'm reading Lovecraft currently - but probably won't. If animated avatar were allowed, I might've shrunk this rather cute baby Cthulhu:

I liked your Cthulhu smiley more. :p

Off-topic is all about being characters, not talking about civ. Anyone around here is going to quickly rack up hundreds of posts relatively unrelated to civ, and will therefore require a distinct avatar to reflect his forum personality.

And it's confusing as hell when two people have the same avatar.

I like my "asteroid destorys all human life on earth" avatar. I wanted TLC's black hole avatar, but I won't use it, otherwise mass confusion would occur.

But otherwise, I have fairly unique avatars.

Yeah, I stayed away for that one...

Although it [pissed] me off when after a week, there were still a couple of people who hadn't changed back...

Meh, I know it's you when I see the bear or the guy on the horse.

Whether it "reflects your personality" or not, it's identifiable. That's all I was really going for.

I think my avatar is a bit too nationalistic, and I'm sure there's someone around here who hates the idea of a conservative attaching his views to a picture of 9/11. But I'm afraid If I change I'll confuse people.

Well, you've kinda dug yourself into a hole by having "never forget" as your title...now you can NEVER change it!

The thing that messes me up isn't the avatar, per se--rather, it's when people use underlined red text in their sig. Every time I see that when scrolling through a thread, I think it's a mod warning. :)
