Guys, this is only for overseas flights, and likely only for 72hrs.

For domestic travel. Nothing new is ban. Just doing more unpredictable screening.

My mom had a flight from YYZ (Pearson International, Toronto) to LGA ( La Guardia International) today, the plane was supposed to take off at 2:15PM (Eastern Time) and they are patting people down and searching peoples bags so it's taking 15 minutes a person to get though security, it is now delayed by 315 minutes

The best thing airports can do is to buy the new X-Ray Detectors. Ok, so someone will be able to see literally everything for a few seconds, but that's better than having millions of pieces of you being picked up in the middle of the ocean.

Although, we could try electrocution torture, or just shoot everyone through the gut and see if it hits a bomb...don't forget the medikits or the defibrillators.

The TSA doesn't delay a flight for extra security like that, those are called flight delays. The extra bulk item pat-downs don't take 15mins, more like 15sec. Bag checks/x-ray is the bottleneck in all of this tho.

How much of a bottleneck is somewhat dependent on the people. A business flight with people that know the rules and pack neat get cleared faster then say a connecting flight which gave out small bottles of water (which 1/3 of people will forget that they put in their bag) gong from terminal 5 to terminal 3 which have to re-enter security, and is mostly family's.

In any case, it doesn't take anywhere close to 15mins person.

That was a flight delay, with the weather and everything. Unless your saying it took you 7hrs to get though security? The airlines do not wait for people to clear screening. If you don't make it in time, your fly will leave you. This happen a lot the other day when a connecting fly was delayed.

But from what I can tell, My airport did better with screening then others.

But if you check a bag but don't board the plane they have to hold up the flight while they take your bag off, so in principle they would have to wait for most people.

Why not just give everyone a sedative that will last for hours unless an antidote is given which would be administered at the receiving airport?

it is because of the <censored> terrorist attack, security normally takes 20 Minutes to get all the way through it, they are using rules set up by the US for planes to enter the US
