We need to federalize aviation security so this doesn't happen again!

Better than the plane "landing" several minutes too early. My mom had a flight from YYZ (Pearson International, Toronto) to LGA ( La Guardia International) today, the plane was supposed to take off at 2:15PM (Eastern Time) and they are patting people down and searching peoples bags so it's taking 15 minutes a person to get though security, it is now delayed by 315 minutes![]()
Sounds like a threat to me.Better than the plane "landing" several minutes too early.

The TSA doesn't delay a flight for extra security like that, those are called flight delays. The extra bulk item pat-downs don't take 15mins, more like 15sec. Bag checks/x-ray is the bottleneck in all of this tho.
How much of a bottleneck is somewhat dependent on the people. A business flight with people that know the rules and pack neat get cleared faster then say a connecting flight which gave out small bottles of water (which 1/3 of people will forget that they put in their bag) gong from terminal 5 to terminal 3 which have to re-enter security, and is mostly family's.
In any case, it doesn't take anywhere close to 15mins person.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,581142,00.html?test=latestnewsIn Chicago, one of the nation's busiest travel hubs, snow and ice along with rain on the East Coast canceled or delayed more than 450 flights Saturday.
Shannon Fullmer drove two hours from his home in Freeport, Ill., to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on Saturday to pick up his 12-year-old son. But the flight from New Jersey was delayed more than three hours...
A few dozen flights were delayed and a few canceled Saturday afternoon in southern Wisconsin. Three to five inches of snow was expected by Sunday morning.
Flights also were delayed at the three major airports in the New York area, which was getting rain and patchy fog. Some travelers arriving at Newark Liberty International had delays of nearly 2 1/2 hours.
Most New York area delays were weather-related but some were worsened by stricter security precautions after an airplane bombing attempt in Detroit, said Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the area's airports.
I meant 1 minute, but they opened the bags and went through all of the contents for every bag, and they did a search of all laptops, doing chemical swabs and such, the 2:15PM flight eventually left at 9:04PM!
That was a flight delay, with the weather and everything. Unless your saying it took you 7hrs to get though security? The airlines do not wait for people to clear screening. If you don't make it in time, your fly will leave you. This happen a lot the other day when a connecting fly was delayed.
But from what I can tell, My airport did better with screening then others.

it actually took 5 HOURS for my mom to get through security, then the rest of the wait was from earlier flights having to take off later, a lot of planes got grounded causing a backlog
while the bolded part may be true, they don't fly when 0% of the passengers are there
Then they can't sell you anything on the plane. Why not just give everyone a sedative that will last for hours unless an antidote is given which would be administered at the receiving airport?
What, my god, why would it take 5hrs?
Keep in mind I have no idea how Canada does it's security.
