ALC Game 17: Russia/Peter

To Quote a "Dr Who" Episode..."the spiders of??" can't quite remember...

CONCENTRATE

How far are you into Iron working...is it worth finishing, hoping for iron and making swords with cats for Nidros.:crazyeye:

Fact
1) Swords get a 10% city raiding bonus inherant:p

2) Swords strength 6, v's axes at 5;)

3) Cost of sword 40, V's axe cost 35 1/7 cost for 20% strength (31.25'% city attack)

4) Cossacks traditionally used swords, or Sabres really, PRE GUNPOWDER
Seems more in the spirit of the ALC's games...

5) Catapults will REDUCE/REMOVE the Longbows advantages to a rough 5/6 strength AFTER ALL bonus taken into account..ie Strength 3-4, 25% city defence Protectective CG 1&2..ETC COLLATERIAL DAMMAGE

So Ragnar has Hereditary rule, BUT is he in Vassalage as well..???

Slight delay on Construction, but MOSCOW DOESN'T HAVE A LIBRARY, you Illiterate SLAV.......WHIP a library, farms will run 2 specialists scientists, IMPROVE beakers, FARMS will run MINES....HAMMERS will produce Cats/swords/axes.......Moscow can be arms factory, whipping/mining/farming.

Coins are for Financial Civs, you just want happy NON STRIKING citizens. BEAKERS ARE KING, Money is for the taking.

In the Great RUSSIAN tradition, of farming in spring, warring in summer Enemy falling in Autumn and celebrating in your enamies cities in Winter.. (My spin on that) :king: (

Sorry, I got depressed by this game so I played an off-line one on the weekend as Hatty and my War Chariots, as usual, KICKED AI BUTT.

So now that that's out of my system, I'll come back to this game and see how things turn out. Sounds like the plan is to switch research to Alphabet, REX into all available land (the canal city first, to cut off the Viking), crank up the SE and head for MT and Cossacks while playing nice with Ragnar. I don't think I'll get that far in the next round, of course, but I'll lay the groundwork. I'll probably get the REX done and end the round there.

Hearing that makes me sad. :(

I usually play this game to cheer myself up ... hearing the opposite is happening for you just sucks.

If it makes any difference, I believe in you, man!!! :goodjob:

Don't be depressed :D Crap happens. You went for a gambit, stretching for copper, then gambled that you could get another city out before Ragnar oracled to feudalism, and you lost. That's why it's called a gamble

But that doesn't mean it's game over. It just means the game gets more interesting. If things went the way we planned all the time, the game would not be nearly as interesting (or as frustrating)

Oh, come on now. Whats poor Peter to think abandoned in the icy North, not even Furs hooked to tuck in.:D

There have been more promising starts yes, but im sure theres quite a bit to be decided left in the game.

We all have faith in you, Sisiutil.:goodjob:

Heh. I went through this in every Immortal Challenge game so far. But when success comes, the returns are worth it :goodjob:

I've been in tougher situations. Try starting out isolated while playing Tokugawa, not having contact with anyone until they come with their caravels. I eventually went on to win a miracle Diplomacy victory. Sisiutil seems like a much better player than me so I'm still confident we'll see a victory for this ALC.

Anything can still happen in this game. Maybe you will be the only one with an iron resource? :assimilate:

It can be very demoralizing when so many things go against you, but being able to turn it around into a victory makes that victory 10 times more sweet than a regular one. Keep it up, and good luck!

Relax, it's just a normal reaction to a temporary setback.

But the update will have to wait. The wife invited friends over for dinner tonight, and since I'm the chef, I'll be busy. Update tomorrow.

Hey, look on the bright side.

If things start to get a bit out of hand, just say:

"Whoops, now that BTS is out, I know you all want to see an ALC with BTS, so I'm going to re-start with Peter under BTS" :)

Cheers.

What's for dinner? Fish or Beef? If it's Crab, you'd better get that Fur city hooked up quick.

I'm allergic to crab meat, though its virtual form in the game is just fine. No, it'll be a tofu-based stir-fry. Our two dinner guests are vegans.

Which reminds me: the game needs soy bean resource. +1 health and +1 happy in all cities on your continent's west coast.

Thanks for the idea! If I drag this out much longer, I just might be able to do that.
