Sommerswerd asked me to change this

made this for another thread, but it's going in here too

Moldova the historic principality was never inside Russia.
If you mean that part of it that is now known as the Republic of Moldova, that has already been said.![]()
It's called Moldavië in Dutch, so that's close to Moldavia, the Slavic version.
/random fact
Don't argue about things you don't know.
Moldova THE REPUBLIC, today's nation state, is a PART of Basarabia. Namely, it's Basarabia without Bugeac (the southern part) and Northern Bukovina (Bucovina de nord), which have been given to Ukraine after WW2.
Basarabia is a PART of the old, historic principality of Moldova; and from this old principality of Moldova, only Basarabia ever belonged to Russia.
Therefore not only does Basarabia INCLUDE today's Republic of Moldova, but the name of this republic is absolute nonsense and from a historic point of view has no justification.

Does this clear things up?
I have, in my five years of reading history texts in this language somewhat voraciously, never come across this. In English, we just say 'Timisoara'. If we have cause to refer to the city at all.And I've heard Timisoara called "Temeschwar" in English, which is derived from the German version of the name.

Oh, and the German should be Temeschburg because it's way cooler.
