Nahhh Sudan, Zimbabwe and Somalia aren't acceptable targets. They're in Africa, it automatically disqualifies them.

The Russkie's are oppressive?

I think it's more corruption that limits the decisions the democratically elected can make.

I think.

Imperialism has never been so successful.

We thank the British for pioneering monolingualism for the modern era.

They did a poor job overall.

I like this map very much. Here's a relation of secessionist (blue) vs. unionists (red) in Catalonia in 2001 (orange means that both movements have almost the same strength and yellow (Barcelona only) that unionists win by a sligth margin)

NOTE: Please, note that this picture shows the situation in 2001. According to all statistical approximations, the current situation seems to be much "bluer".

I formally endorse Catalonian separatism.

I formally endorse Catalonian separatism.

And I formally hope Spain crushes any possible separation bloodily.

I support Catalonia as an sovereign state within a federal EU, but not as an independent state in Europe. So, get cracking on the EU so Catalonia can finally break off!

You seem to ignore that Catalan secessionism has always wanted to be create a state within the EU.

poor job? it loos like more than half the country does not speak Irish.

They had one partial success in disseminating English over one comparatively small underpopulated island over a period of a couple of hundred years which they subsequently lost. Most parts of the world do not count that as a success. The French did a far better job after the Revolution in insuring that French was the dominant tongue of the Republic. They supplanted the various regional dialects of Oïl dialects and the langue d'oc with standardised French. They haven't ended up rebelling despite the fact that the actual French seem to like acting like a pack of asses on issue of using say Breton in public schools.
