Am working on the map - need trade centers?

Well Transocenian ones would be helpful - and if the Old world ECs differ significantly then yes.

How close are you to finishing the map? Its just I'm heading of for a week in about 2 hours, and if I have a nation list at least I can work on stats (though the map would be helpful too).

Not sure yet - I did Transoceania and Europe, am doing Africa but it and Asia are often such a bother.

I promised it would be epic, didn't I? ;) Meh, you could just do a summary if you want, I know that NESers are lazy.

Phew. That was one of the most intensive sessions in my map-making career. If there are any balance problems with the eco. center, deal with that yourself... Feel free to ask questions now while I'm here, the same goes for potential players.

It would seem that I have no time to write a summary myself, so a few things about the atmosphere/culture of this world, for the use of pretty much everybody else who needs it.

The Americas are pretty much guessable - the customs there are OTL except where they are clearly not, as in the Acolhuan Empire. The Chibchas existed in OTL and came close to forming an empire, so one could find some stuff on them as well if he wants.

Europe, for various reasons, is now most resemblant of the OTL Renaissance Europe - i.e. there is a rise of libertine thought, flourishing of art, emergence of new architectural style (after the Catholic Renaissance and the Monumental Gothic) and so forth. Heresy is on the march, but the Inquisition is ever vigilant. The whole continent has been in something of a stagnation until recently, but now the Pax Habsburgus seems likely to break down, the Greater Colonial Age is about to begin and an industrial revolution is beginning with the Venetian-style manufacturies being built. This world is fairly likely to become a steampunk, "Da Vinci Amock" one. It has been rather peaceful and humane by comparison with our world, and also more libertine - no excesses of the Spanish Inquisition, no Puritanism (except in Russia). Speaking of Russia, religiously there is a possibility of a new Council of Florence, if enough powerful people are interested.

Russia is disturbingly similar in many things to silver2039's Muscovy from NES2 V (the Church is firmly under the State's control, a powerful buerocracy has been established and an elite fanatical military force is ruthlessly putting down rebellions, plus there already was at least one genocide).

Ottoman Empire is much like the OTL one... from the early 16th century, i.e. it is on the march. Only, it is more navy-oriented (which reminds me, forgot to put in the "Ottoman Strait", do so Dis), and as mentioned there are the Genoese.

In India, Gujarat resembles a more vigorous (and Ottoman-influenced, what's with the Janissaries and all that) Sultanate of Delhi, but it might also turn out to be more short-lived, as it doesn't have much support amongst the Hindus. The Muslims like it, though.

Asia is generally as in OTL, except where it isn't. The largest difference is a flourishing maritime trade network, with resulting cultural effects - i.e. the rise of mercantilism and cosmpolitianism, though it is a steady process. In Nan Ming Empire, it is particularily problematic, as the country is divided between two large court factions - a Libertine-Mercantile one, hailing from the port cities, that is, what a surprise, in the support of more trade, stronger fleet and mildly "liberal" reforms, and a Confucianist-Agricultural one, that is against all this corruption of the traditional society and is also semiisolationist. Something like that exists in Japan, but to a lesser extent, the people there are mostly content with the gradual growth of prosperity, while the samurais that might've opposed this have been wisely send to go build an empire.

Dont care about your wants Kal, Ill probably take it if I can :)

Dis, what kind of ruleset are you using?

quick question: You said in the Alt-Hist that Affalon has spread away from Newfoundland partially, setting up out posts?

Towards 1700, Affalon encompassed all of its island and had a still small, but quickly-growing population. Several new, lesser setlements were established; early expeditions took place to the mainland

So shoulodn't i have so more of the maritimes, or a small holding on the mainland?

Well, since I have promised revenge on you for wrecking Sweden, I guess we would be even :p

But maybe I wont take it, since I just took Mexico in swissempire's nes preview. I dont like playing in the same region in more than 1 NES at a time.

I want Russia....I'll kill and maim and rape and torture anyone who tries to take it from me.

Will you give me back Ireland Conehead?

You know silver, your new avatar doesn't fit you. Bismark was a statesmen, a diplomat, not a genociding person :p Though you do fit the warmongering part...
