:scan: Hi all,i have always thot that im the only one who is crazy abt this addictve game until i sumbled upon this website n wow, look at the number of hits this website got per day!Impressive, cant wait to tell my frens that this game is really addictive n im not the wierd one...hehe....

By the way,i am using the Gold Edition of Civ3.I would like to ask whether the Conquest expansion pack would work with my version.

thank u

yeah conquest would work with your edition or version no matter what just that gold edition has Play the World included along side with vanilla Civ3 :)

Just be aware that *some* folks who have added Conquests to a CIv3-Gold install have had some problems. Depending on where you live, and how early a version of Civ3Gold you have, there is a *slight* chance of difficulties. I believe the US version, right after release was the worst offender.

Bust most people have had no trouble at all.

I would like to know what 'enslavement' is. I mean the specifics that is.... It seems the Mayan Unit turns all into workers... Is that correct? (seems a little powerful)... What do the other units with enslavement do exactly?
And with unit creation how much freedom is given to tweaking this ability?

THanx in advance:)

enslavement ( 1/3 chance of getting a unit)

Units w/ enslavement
- Man O' War enslavement result in a Man O' War
- Privateer enslavement result in a Privateer
- Javelin Thrower results in a Worker.

:p That makes sence that those units would have enslavement.

But as for the Javelin Thrower it makes sence but to turn its captured units into workers seems too powerful.. I havn't gotten Conquests yet so I really have no idea.... But I can see a strat of building massive heards of Javelin Throwers and then taking the workers to home cities and having them join the city. After a city woudl get maxed it could just work the population to produce whatever... Expeacially since that heard of Javelin Throwers is still slamming through enemy territory and then having workers sent back to fullfill the gap of overworked peeps whom died....

So the more people they warred with the more workers they could get to hurry more buildings and more effective units (maybe to bring down the HP of units prior to a Javelin Thrower attacking so the Javelin Thrower is less likely to die... need more slaves ofcourse :D )

But I am not sure. As I said have yet to play the exp.

So anyone addicted to the Mayans because of the Javelin Throwers????

Are my assumptions wrong?

Not addicted to the Mayans, but I do find it hard to play non-agri games now. That is way to powerful.

1/3 of a chance is too slim to count on huge stacks of workers. Keep in mind too that the captured worker retains it's nationality, so if you join a bunch of captured workers to your city the potential of it flipping goes up. Not necessarily the brightest thing to do. However, having that many captured workers does allow you to build less of your own, and that frees up the unit support for Science, Tax or luxs. With two captured workers = one of your own, it's more than enough incentive to get them. If it was four to one, or eight to one, it wouldn't be worth the time to get them.

Edit: Hit the wrong button!

Do large stacks of captured workers happen? Sure...in the right circumstances. I'm too addicted to huge maps to play the smaller ones where this would be more advantagous. I also don't have the infrastructure to go to war earlier to take advantage of it.

Enslaved workers also work at about half the productivity (I think).

Yeah, half is right. But put two free captured workers together and you get one paid-for worker. Works for me.

I guess that balances it out more. i had not realized that.

As for cities flipping though, Why not just hurry productions?.. That way you are working the foriegners to death to build those infrastructures.

Oh and are the MAn 'O Wars or Privateers weakend at all?
