Anti-Semitism Bad, Black Face Good?

Discussion each other again :nono:

Will you convert? :nono:
Will you confess? :nono:
Will you revert? :nono:
Will you say yes?

This made soda pop shoot out my nose.

The person in this particular instance is so ultra-nationalistic that he continues to falsely claim I am an anti-American merely for merely disagreeing with his authoritarian far-right views.

Discussing me again. :nono: and a clarification: a LOT of people around here disagree with my views but I dont call them anti-American. Mere disagreement doesnt make one anti-American. Continual negative comments about things American and a long post history of doing so is what identifies someone as anti-American.

What does "anti-American" actually mean, in this sense? Conventionally it describes a critical attitude the activities of the United States on the international stage, but in this context it seems to be a pejorative. Surely we're not to take it that the conventional usage is being applied as a pejorative?

Anti-American is what you call someone who criticizes America and you disagree with.
Patriotic is what you call someone who criticizes America and you agree with.

I think it takes a lot more than simple criticizm to make one a Patriot....and fwiw, more than simple criticism to make one anti-American as well.

But I need contrast man! You think this is discussion? It's not! It's theatrics, it's drama.

Contrast works in Drama, nuance doesn't. As the great movie International Man of Mystery showed us: "People never think how things effect the family of a henchman."

Only I don't even "criticize America", or "things American" as Mobboss so ineptly described it.

I criticize absurd domestic and foreign policy decisions by the government. I criticize imperialism, hegemony, and hypocrisy by those agencies. I criticize the two-party political system, which is only slightly better than a one-party system. I criticize being opposed to the basic tenets which this country was founded while incessantly trying to rationalize and defend the indefensible by those who are ultra-nationalistic.

As usual, those who incessantly whine about other Americans being "anti-American" are typically being far more "anti-American" themselves by being completely clueless regarding what the First Amendment even means. :crazyeye:

Oh, I was speaking generally. I wouldn't dare discussing others. :nono:

Except Mister Cooper. But that's because he'd painted himself purple, danced on a harpsichord singing "Those zany predictions are here again".

But besides from that I don't dicuss...

Oh and GW from time to time. But that's because he was playing the harpsichord.

Apart from those two, I never discuss any ...

I might have made a remark about CH's posting style.

But disregarding those 3 I really never ever comment on anyone's po ...

I just remembered Basketcase.

Maybe I should come in again.

If this thread leaves me with one conclusion, it's that we should ban this patronizing smiley.

Absolutely. If there's one thing that kills any meaningful discussion, it's agreement.

And if anyone agrees with that statement, I'll spit.

I agree. Agreement is a terrible thing.

*spits*

There. Happy now?

(Look at that. I shall have to go find a tissue to mop it up.)

Most of the time I hear Anti-American, it's being used as a pejorative (shovel-ready political rhetoric).

That map is all the proof I ever need to show that St Louis is an evil New England coastie plot against the righteous pop people of Missouri.

On the bright side, at least the fine people of Washington have it right.

It's called Coke.

I thought it was a kind of coal. I'm not putting that up my nose. Thanks, all the same.

Nah coke is something you snort, not something you drink.
Why do you think so many old timers used to call it "dope"?

And what about those who call it "sodie pop", or some such derivation?
