I've been using norton internet security for sometime, but it's dragging down my laptop performance and I'm considering seeking for a replacement.
I wonder what firewall or antivirus software you guys are using.
Any suggestions?

I use Avast Antivirus. It's free and doesn't impact my performance much. Just make sure you also get a couple anti-spyware and anti-malware programs and keep them updated.

I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials (the new one), which is supposedly quite good. And I use Comodo firewall, which a lot of people recommend. Both are free.
Just make sure to turn off some of the defense+ options on the Comodo software unless you want warning pop-ups all the time.

If you set up Comodo Defense+ properly, you won't see many pop-ups after a few days. Comodo is is a pretty decent package if you ask me: firewall, anti-virus, and whatever you call defense+.

On XP, I've liked the Kaspersky suite, the best.

Microsoft Security Essentials is good. I think it and NOD32 are the only AV solutions that don't have bloat somewhere. I also use Sandboxie to isolate internet browsing.

SandBoxIE does seem to be like a highly useful tool. Comodo has something similar, but I don't think it works as good as Sandboxie.

AVG is one I am currently trying to figure out. But it is a resource hog, and slows down my internet search slightly. I like to try alot of these anti-virus softwares for the fun of it.

It's very good if you don't mind false-positives.

When I used AVG I turned off the link scanner- saved on resources but does remove some security.

I currently use:
XP - Panada Cloud AV
Vista/7 - Microsoft Security Essentials (doesn't run as well on XP, IMO)

Norton is terrible.

I run Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes.

I stopped using AVG during the Mount&Blade Warband beta because it kept trying to quarentine the warband.exe file. So irritating, but that was the only problem Id had with it at least.

Microsoft Security Essentials is the current top dog, and it's free for home users.

The biggest weakness Windows is perceived * to have is security, so Microsoft can't afford to screw up it's AV offering - and they have the biggest pockets out there, so the product should get lots of support for the foreseeable future.

* ... Windows 7 is pretty secure, but there are plenty of users that are still happy to click through a bunch of warnings to let malware install. Security Essentials effectively keeps people from being dumb, and it does a good job of that.

Yes and well over 60% of the first generation of X-Box 360s died due to rushed production. Its menu system has a horribly annoying beep and the same icky bubbly bloated graphics for the GUI. The D-Pad on the controller is a bit finicky too.

Dunno if there is anything else wrong with it though, they seem to work a lot better now anyways.
