AoE III Demo Released!

Personally, I HATE the interface. It is too huge.

Go to AoE3 Heaven Games, they found out a way to zoom out a lot...

See, I don't know how bi gthe zoom is, becuase I still have ~340 + megabytes to go....this is going to take a couple of weeks....

Will I be able to run the game on:

2ghz p4
geforce 4mx
700 ram

?

It's nice to see that they haven't changed it too much- the CPU players can still kick my butt with a 2nd age rush. Something which has haunted me since AoE1...

I've always found the AI (atleast in AoEII) to be quite weak.

1. Plop down a few early towers (2 of them, evenly spaced so that they can protect each other), and load your villagers into them. The AI will attack with their VILLAGERS!

2. The Scout Rush. Just find their local mill, and start harrassing the workers around it. They won't get anything done, and die off one by one.

In both cases, it's game over for the AI.

I'm just disapointed you can't play the tutorial campaign. :(

And it seems to be a bit buggy. Large gaps between dialogue for starters.

I downloaded the game from Microsoft, didn't take to long. I went to install it and it installed fine. Then everytime i went to play it, the loading screen would come up and then in like 15 seconds my computer would restart, every single time. And my computer is pretty much brand new.
Got all this stuff back in the first week of july.

AMD 64 3500 venice core
256mb Sapphire x800xl ultimate edition
1gig of corsair dual channel
and some other goodies, new mobo new case ect..

So i shouldn't be having a problem with this game, wonder if the download was corrupt somehow?

Are you using the latest version of DirectX? I don't think it came with the demo download..

i just played the demo and i thought it was pretty sweet.
the only problem i had is i think the scenario idea is a little weird.
there should be a revolution scenario or something like that.
But best thing was defininetly the destructible environment.

The Interface was easily the biggest complaint among Age fans. They've reduced it in size considerably since the demo was released.

Meh, I didn't think it was too big :p.

I'd buy this over Civ4 in a heartbeat.

There'll be a new demo tomorrow, btw...

With a tutorial and bug fixes, etc.

Hopefully they also decreased the huge interface size.

Strange, I didn't really mind the interface...

And will it include different skirmish levels?

I don't know, here's what it said (it was a newsletter):

Updates to the demo include:
An optional minimized UI
A tutorial
Lots of miscellaneous bug fixes

I don't mind the interface, and it's nice to see a fixing of the demo but...and I don't know about you lot...but I'd much rather they concentrate on finishing the main game so I can play it properly ;)

The demo is probably the current progress of the game, minus certain features. (Sort of like a beta preview)

I didn't like this new demo :(. I prefer AoE II.
