I know, I excelled myself here...It just goes above our heads.
In a mashup of the two issues (1.being lazy and 2. shooting people who come on your lawn), I submit the following for your consideration. Imagine being so lazy that you shoot people who come to cut your grass for you.Things seem more simple in America, very fit for lazy people like me.
*someone entered my lawn.
"heh? you enter my lawn?"
* take my double-barrel shotgun that resting near me and....
BAAM!
No need for a long tiring argument, just shoot the problem till it is fixed.

https://www.star-telegram.com/news/local/crime/article252833233.htmlA gunman who opened fire on a lawn mowing crew and officers held authorities at bay for almost four hours Friday before he surrendered, police said. The man was arrested without incident about 12:20 p.m., and no injuries were reported. Fort Worth police did not release the name of the suspect. The man had opened fire on officers and mowers who were at his home to enforce code compliance because the grass was too tall, according to police.
Similar to the above story, but even crazierNot the first time. By the half-dozenth time you wish you could, but don't.
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/city-s-attempt-cut-texas-man-s-grass-leads-standoff-n1282623An attempt by Austin, Texas, officials to serve a search warrant and provide lawn care resulted in shots fired, an hourslong standoff, a house fire and a death, police said Wednesday.
Never water my lawn. Guess the natural rain is enough. So that's obviously insane, but IMO the western world has a stupid fascination with grass. There's lawns everywhere and it's such a waste of water to maintain all of that (by enough people who are evil enough to actually water their lawns).
I mow my lawn every 2-3 weeks or so, which is almost the most lazy schedule you can do without it spiraling out of control. And yeah, I admit, when I walk around my neighbourhood and I see somebody's lawn overgrown and with weeds, I judge them silently as I walk past.
But it seems to me that there's gotta be more options than just planting grass everywhere. A house on a nearby street has a bunch of rocks and gravel and stuff. It doesn't look great, but at least they're trying something new. Another house in the area's front yard has a garden and some shrubs on the city owned strip right by the road. It looks really nice. There's a couple others that have a mix of rocks, other plants, shrubs, etc. I've even seen gnomes. And those tiny plastic retaining walls that prevent biomes from touching each other, whatever they are called.
The stuff I've mentioned was thought up by random housewives and grandmothers. And yeah, don't knock housewives and grandmothers when it comes to decoration and gardening, but I bet if you put together a consortium of landscaping & feng shui (or whatever) experts and professionals, they would be able to give us a bunch of new exciting options.
In some places it's even illegal to not plant grass.. Even in places that claim to have freedom. That just seems like somebody is trying to destroy the planet on purpose.
If I wasn't lazy enough, I would start up a movement to make some of this happen. And in that scenario I would consider the crazy guy from the previous post as a religious fanatic equivalent of the movement.

But when it comes to grass... you really need some. Or at least some kind of vegetation. Otherwise you get whole subdivisions that are nothing more than heat sinks of concrete and asphalt.
I suppose someone could always start a thread on residential landscaping/gardens.I really like the designs that incorporate bushes and other vegetation, various complementary decorations or other elements, etc. I agree we should stay away from concrete and asphalt too, except for the places where they're actually needed.
Moss is cool too. Maybe some grass is required, but surely there's other options than just "100% grass and that's it"
I'm too lazy to add anything about lazyness in this post though, so this is unfortunately a bit off topic
