Ask a pizza delivery guy...

Over here, people delivering food doesn't drive, they ride. It's actually a lot faster in using a motorbike.

I guess that's comes from a structural difference between North American cities and European cities.

I would make that seperation. Bikes have their uses; especially in a VERY urban enviroment(that is- If breaking traffic laws is not a problem).

A car can hold at the minimum of 25 pizzas and a truck a HUGE amount; which have never seen needed to this day. I ussually limit my little car to 15 pies.
A bike is unheard of here. I can only imagine. I think a limit of 5 pies(pizzas) is the maximum a bike could carry.
My arguement (in regard to car vs bike) would be to highlight the bikes lack of cargo capacity.
A car would be the most cost effective delivery vehicle provided more than one order of pizzas was delivered on each "run".

I am suprised that the term "stiff" is used or even known in another state.
Stiff
n. or a.
A delivery (or person paying for the service and food) that is either; known to; recently has; or is assumed to avoid tipping a delivery driver.

Do some female clients (attractive and not) get especially friendly with you or seem to order pizza just to get friendly with the delivery boy?

I've heard this has happened to some of my other co-workers from time to time (usually if booze was involved)...but it didnt happen to me. My girlfriend would sometimes order a pizza, so I'd have an excuse to show up though

It's also a verb, I've been familiar with that term forever, didn't think it was a regional thing.

In the Paris area, a motorbike is easily 5 times faster to deliver food than is a car. Reasons are simple:
1/ A motorbike can avoid traffic jams in running between cars.
2/ A motorbike can be parked anywhere on the sidewalk at the opposite of a car which requires a real carpark due to its size.

In my city, there's simply no debate. Delivering pizzas in less than 30 minutes would be simply impossible without motorbikes.

Now this being said and considering how US cities generally look like. I would guess you would consider the whole central core of the Paris urban area as a "VERY urban environment".

EDIT: By the way, I fail to see where's the advantage in being able to carry 25 pizzas in the same time knowing that you would have never the time to deliver them in less than 20 minutes to clients as this is generally requested. I don't know how it is in Florida, but over here clients get their pizzas for free if they are delivered to them more than 30 minutes after their phone call.

Although it is only 8 minutes from the Pizza place to my house- I always tip
the delivery person $4 and sometimes $5 . They at least act like they really
appreciate it and I usually get my pizza hot and pretty quickly.

If it's the first time a customer has ordered a pizza. Do you get it there with care, or do you only care for the customers who tip well?

I usually took pride in my work, and tried to get everywhere quickly. If I had a big order in the rich part of town, I'd be extra careful. It was near the end of my shift, and I had a little order reeeaaaally far away though...yeah, I'd take my time

Do you spit or pee on the pizzas of clients who generally tip bad ?

Nobody in our shop did stuff like that. We used to take a marker and write an insult on the inside of the box though. The worst thing I ever did was pick off a lot of their toppings and eat them in the car. But that was for a guy who not only didnt tip, but didnt pay the whole price, so I had to make up the difference out of my pocket.

How do you not pay the whole price?

What happens when someone "prank" orders pizza for the house you are supposed to be delivering to and that house doesn't want to pay for the pizza? Do you get to eat the pizza?

Yes, usually. When that happens we always threaten to call the cops on the prankster, but usually don't since the cops can't do anything.

Do you get pissed when you only get a few cents tip, like my friend does?

Yes!

how much do you earn per hr ?

Usually minimum wage ($5.15) or a little more. They pay us little since our main source of income is tips.

do you make each delivery one pizza at a time or do you serve many on the smae trip (and if so, how do you get them all there on time?)

When it's busy, we take several at once. To get them all on time, you just 1) be a fast driver and 2) deliver them in the order that the orders were placed. Also, on doubles or triples (as we call them) we try to take orders going to the same area, or are on the way to each other, etc.

Do you have to pay for your own gasoline or does the company cover you?

Every place is different. Often they give you a set amount per delivery (i.e. $0.75) or per hour that you work.

Do you ever have hot women soliciting casual sex with you when you deliver their pizza to them?

Once, actually. It was a hot mom. I didn't do it (married).

is $2 enough tip?

Depends on the price of the order. I say 15% is enough tip, 20% if service is exceptional. If you want to give more, it doesn't bother me.

What was the nastiest thing you did to a customer you hate.

Same as delorimer, just be slow and not careful. I never put anything into a customers pizza, for example. Nor did I ever witness anyone do that. My impression is that such things are rarer than rare.

If it's the first time a customer has ordered a pizza. Do you get it there with care, or do you only care for the customers who tip well?

First timers get the benefit of the doubt. Stiff us more than 2 or three times, and you can expect to wait a long time.

Ever see strange things inside peoples' homes when they open the front door for you?

I gave this one it's own post so I can expound a bit.

I have seen a lot of weird stuff, moreso on the road than in people's houses. One house that I remember was odd. I went up to the door and it was standing open. There was a teenage girl sitting in a chair near the door, so I said "Hello, got your pizza here." She responded by rocking back and forth in her chair and laughing hysterically. For 5 minutes.

Another time, a man answered the door in a bathrobe, and in the house behind him I saw two women, also in bathrobes.

While driving in Tallahassee, I have seen the following animals on or near the road: horses, a goat, a pig, armadillos, roosters, chickens, a peacock, a turkey, a red fox, rabbits, and lots of raccoons. Keep in mind that this is supposed to be the state capital, not out in the country.

Have you ever had to clamour for a job because it means you get to see a very hot chick?

We never clamor for jobs because it's on a first in, first out basis. But we envy the guy who gets the hot chick order.

Ever had any times when you felt your life was in danger?

Yes, I was robbed at gunpoint while driving once. It was at the end of the night and the guy took all my tips (about $50) but luckily he didn't get my wallet.

How can you eat the topping off a pizza you are delivering for someone the doesn't pay for in full, if you don't get paid until you deliver the pizza? You'd have to have ESP or something to know he was going to short you.
