Did the Muslims claim to see a man rise from the dead? And did the very people who claimed this die for that belief?

(Correct me, but they also believe in Jesus, no?)

But besides that, there were those who claimed to have seen Muhammad ascend to heaven, or something like that... I can't trust my recollection very well.

But if I am correct... Then "Ya" pretty much.

They claimed to see a man ascent to heaven, and some of them died because of that belief.

Edit: x-post with Behind The Mask.

Dom, my point was, dying for a belief is not an indication of the validity of that belief, just the strength.

Can you name a couple of these people so I can get to the Google Mobile and find out more about it. (Or link me to the accounts of their deaths if you have 'em handy)

@BTM- They believe he was a prophet, but they don't think he died.

As for those who claimed to see Muhammad ascend, how many? Because if it was just a couple, they could have been hallucinating or lying (SOME people are that crazy) but to claim hundreds of people were lying and died for it is absurd.

@Ziggy- Every disciple except John was killed. And John only lived since God saved him from the boiling oil, so according to you he would have been killed too.

However, it's rather easy for one or two persons to be lying about the claim hundreds saw him.

edit: Wait, we're in this thread now talking about this?

*Blah* *Blah* Something about a kettle and a pot *Blah* *Blah*

Perhaps those hundreds were mistaken, or wrong, or so overcome with religious zealous that they lied to themselves.

My denial is no more absurd then yours.

My denial is entirely reasonable and I won't know anything when I'm dead because I'll be bleedin dead.

You will be before the judgment seat, judged based on whether or not you had faith in Jesus Christ and whether you have accepted his blood sacrifice for your sins. Those who have not will be ushered into damnation as they deserve, while those who have will be spared the damnation they deserve.

Why is it absurd? If one person can lie, a hundred people can lie.

And where does Odin enter into all this? Pluto? Anubis? Manannán mac Lir?

Also, he really only has two. Matthew and Luke got all that from Mark.

I'll be bleedin dead.

Period.

Now, I'm pretty reasonable to religion; I won't walk into some church and mock the congregation as fools, I won't put a billboard telling the whole religious to choke on it, and I won't put a slogan on a bus and drive around the country giving those who disagree the finger.

However I will not be fed crap.

And all this crap about those getting what they deserve... a religion that punishes those who have done nothing wrong just because they don't believe in your absurdities can close those pearly gates for all I care.

Right. Wrong. Doesn't matter so long as you believe in the man in the sky.

BAH!

Assumptions...

And besides, as long as what Mark said was true, who cares? And Matthew (I don't remember about Luke) was there as well and so would have known if Mark said something wrong.

I'll be bleedin dead.

You do not understand Christianity do you?

You do not understand Christianity do you?

I understand it well enough and I also understand an unjustice when I see one.

If I have lived an innocent and pure life, but not believed in your god yet am still given eternal damnation, or any damnation, then that is no justice.

I've drawn my line and I will not let the absurd hold any weight upon my life.

Agreed. But you haven't, because All Have Sinned. And so since you have sinned, along with everyone else, we are all on a path to damnation until we believe.
