well both countries are part of the eu, both are net contributors, so rather close.
public discussions of socio-political topics started in germany usually end up in austria soon after.
the landscape of political parties is superficially almost the same.
pop culturally we hate them for being snooty dicks who think they own the world.
i never heard of austria being sneaky, as i remember we went head first into two world wars.

they're nothing more than insignificant appendages of us military adventures anyway.
those are generally viewed negatively with an unhealthy dose of anti-americanism.

Sepp Holzer is a dude who runs an ecological farm and writes books about it. He is quite popular here and is pretty much the only thing I know about Austria.
