Is Hitler considered "Austrian" or "German?"

Hitler was born in Austria and his ancestors were Austrians.
But he did spend most of his childhood and youth in Bavaria. By the time he joined the NSDAP he was definitly more Bavarian than Austrian. You could see that, for example, in his accent.

Don't get me started on whether Bavarian counts as German...
Austrian sure as hell doesn't. All the talk about "Pan-Germanism" in this thread is so naive. That's about as close to reality as the movement to turn the UK into state No. 51.
