Sometimes a picture will put forwards an argument much more neatly and concisely than words.
You don't know Jim Jones?ironduck said:Agreed, but can't yet google pictures, have to have a word associated with them- I hadn't heard of him before..

Basically nutcase Christian forms cult, gains gathering, and runs off to mountains, completly isolating themselves from the world (and the evil, corrupting liberal media and tv).
They kill a US senator, and then all commit suicide.

I'd like to add a footnote to his point. If you reli-guys stay out of non-reli business like gay-marriage, stem cell research, politics, education, history before 6000 years ago etc. then I will solemly swear to not attack nor vehemently question others' faith.

They should be ignored or mocked
Point me to the part of the tax code were a gay person can pass their estate to their "spouse" with a full exemption from estate taxes? I can certainly point you to where a straight person could.Katheryn said:First of all, any gay couple can marry if they want.

I accept that everyone has the right to say, believe, and think whatever they damn well please, and I know it's not my place to make them change, I merely state my point of view.
And it's statements like your last one that encourages the aggressiveness in our responses to the religious. And most things that are seen as acts of God, like when people see heaven when they're near death, are actually quite explainable phenomena.
What if my view is that religion was wrong? Does that make me a fool?emu said:I'm not religious, that is merely the way I have seen people acting towards the religious
Katheryn said:Education? Anti-religion is taught in the schools! It is full of liberal anti-West, anti-Christianity.

I will ask you to read the bolded part below (in McManus' quote), I grant you that is says religious people make sweeping generalizations, but your statement I placed in the spoiler would fit into the category of "sweeping generalization":emu said:I'm not religious, that is merely the way I have seen people acting towards the religious

That was an incredibly sweeping generalization you made, as I am very accepting of people with different views, opinions and beliefs. I merely voice my own, so that I'm heard.
Anti religion is not taught in school, school is a government funded program, thus separation of church and state makes it so. They don't force you to believe in evolution in Bio or whatever, they give you Evolutions side of the story and lets you choose. (FYI, most of the other side of the story was learned in CCD classes and that).Education? Anti-religion is taught in the schools! It is full of liberal anti-West, anti-Christianity.
