August 3rd - Consolidated information thread.

Haggbart: There's quite a lot of information floating around that according to Filthy was under NDA.

The Religion parts, though, I think were under NDA because it's the subject of the 2K thing happening later today?

Yes, I'm thinking someone might not be invited to the next press event...
Also I think you are right on the 2K event, because it will air later I think they wanted a reason for people to follow that and not only watch the unofficial streams.

It looks good. One thing I am wondering about is how much room is there to expand early? For example, if I want to play a style where my capital isn't developed much more than my other towns, or get +1 or +2 towns really early for more flexibility in production or something (some strategic reason based on terrain ressources neighbours..).

It is a matter of how well balanced it is so that you can expand in many different ways while opponents may threaten your towns or the tiles they improve in many different ways. I wish for nearly any kind of start to be possible. Scout > Warrior > Settler > Warrior > Settler ? Builder > Scout > Warrior > Settler > Scout > Builder.......... it all has interesting consequences. Warrior > Warrior > Monument > Builder > Warrior ^^

One thing I like about being able to expand early, is that you get more choices to make in the early game due to having more than one town to defend, build and to choose production of etc and the amount of terrain you take into account.

Ed stated that it starts with religion, so yeah, 2K probably didn't want people talking about it since they themselves had a planned event on the same day.

Lol, I'm guessing someone's not happy that the pantheons were revealed. According to Filthy, that's not supposed to be showed.

Not that I'm complaining ;)

Neither we should be able to see full tech tree. Such things always happen - remember Shoshone and Venice unveiled earlier than planned?

Any information on religion aside from the list of pantheons?

It's under NDA. Wait several hours until official reveal.

Building settler doesn't stop growth in the city, according to BAStartGaming (part2)

Confirmed to me on Twitter by Marbozir that the Pantanal Wetlands is the Natural Wonder in the game that takes up 4 tiles.

Natural Wonders have some unique bonuses, like according to BAStartGaming (part3) the Red Sea/Dead Sea (?) will heal adjacent units instantly. And that natural wonder also consists of 2 tiles.

Dead Sea bonus sounds super underpowered.

Anyway, the IGN article details the Suzerain bonuses for 2 new CSs, but I can't copy the specific line on my phone for some reason.

There's a promotion in the game that let's you disembark onto coastal cliffs. Without that it's impossible.

I feel bad for Arioch, I hope he has lots of coffee available. He'll be up all night and I can't wait to see it all nicely formatted on his site.

In FiltyRobot's Aztec game, Paris has a building called Philosopher's Stone
