pre-release info Augustus (Imperium Maius) - Leader Discussion

pre-release info
I think this has been mentioned once or twice before, but Octavian looks a bit lean here. That's not an accuracy critique (I know little about the man), but it gives him the appearance of being a young man himself, almost like a boy if not for his creased cheeks. It's an interesting choice.
They're definitely going for a boyish look, which is a bit unusual.

I can't get over how bad he looks.

And they couldn't leave it at that, no, they had to salt the wound by forcing you to look at him every time you interact with other leaders if you choose him.

Horrible. I hope modders will fix him up right quick if nothing changes on Firaxis' side. (or make him even twinkier, as a joke)

I hope all the leaders continue to get a few more thorough art passes, but yes, Octavian and Ben Franklin look particularly bad.

Augustus seems better (at least for me) in the livestream, which has two advantages: it's animated and in the environment he was designed to be seen, and it's the latest build so the most polished. I think seeing the still image without any movement does a disservice to Augustwink, and I think art polish is still in the pipes (after all, if they were already finished, what would the art team do during the next six months?).

The leaders did look better in the livestream. A big part of that is this footage isn't thrice compressed b-roll. Additionally, you can see that some textures have been added to the models. The finish on Augustus' breastplate has been added now, for example.

I am sure the devs will continue to improve all of it going forward to release (and beyond). After all, artists will do artist stuff as long as they are on a project, and even after release we can expect Firaxis to do DLC and some free work in between that for patches. :)

Augustus returns to Civ VII! We showed off some of his gameplay in our last dev livestream (ICYMI), but here's the official First Look and Game Guide for Augustus. More to come!

Official confirmation on Spain! The detail on the model definitely seems better here than what we've seen before.

I think I’m primarily watching these to hear what other civs they sneakily confirm. Wonder if that mean we’ll have a colonial Spanish civ for the Modern Age.

Literally unplayable, agenda is named after something related to Aurelian, grrrrrr /j

I neither love that agendas are back nor the examples we've seen of them so far...but at least they seem to be slightly more complex? E.g., I don't think any Civ6 agenda worked like this where you could both satisfy and transgress an agenda at the same time. So...maybe that's progress? I don't know.

I don't understand this agenda, what is it about?
Hatchepsut is clear it's to dislike people competing with her for wonders but this one I don't know

I'm a little bit disappointed that agendas seem to be exactly the same as in Civ6 which is to say, not very interesting and a bit nonsensical.

Garden building at 00:45, behind the capital?
Yes.
