I just saw it.
I haven't seen 3d movies since I was kid, and so this was at places pretty awesome experience. It delivered already before the movie started, as there was advertisement with nude woman, in 3d.
My motivation was to see a 3d-film, so I had no hopes for plot, actually I expected it to be pretty lame. Of the visual experience I have no complaint at all. Something seemed to be right in front of me, and I really dodged couple of things (if that's the right word, moved my head so that they wouldn't hit me).
The plot was not special, but it wasn't specially bad either. It's kind of fairy tale, and if you watch it like that, it's not bad. There were some pompous or even cheesy bits, but Lord of the Rings 2&3 both made me more embarrassed than this one.
I have heard the first 90 minutes rock out as a visual and adventure roller coaster ride, then drops of a cliff into preachy nonsensical Iraq comparisons that make even the stauchest lefty go WTH?
It's more like allegory of colonialism in Americas and Africa. It has two lines that hint at Iraq, and if someone thinks the film is about Iraq, he
1) is 110% sure that the invasion in Iraq was atrocious thing, and
2) is obsessed with Iraq, probably because of item #1 and the efforts he makes to block #1 from his conscious thought.
