Well, I didn't see a poll for the GOP debate so here it is.
Do you want my objective opinion on terms of what would make the best race or my self-interest? (FYI, they are not the same)

edit:
ok, nm, those are some horrid choices that, I think misses a couple of the bigger, more legit names.

Ah, we've personified "the internet"

I want you to think about that for a moment.

His position on the Drug War alone is enough to secure him enough votes for the Presidency.

Er, no it's not. Pro-drug people are in the minority; Marijuana alone just has as much people as the pro-life movement; forget about harder drugs.

(p.s.: normal people are "statist")

I find that people who claim Ron Paul is crazy are often 10 times more crazy than he is. As the status-quo statist candidates all seem to be faltering Paul's numbers seem to only be climbing exponentially and he's the only candidate with grassroots support. He's widely held as the Founding Father of the Tea Party and the modern movement for Freedom and Liberty in the country.

That's not something to be proud of.

Orrery, we really need to talk about your understanding of Paul's polling. Frankly, it sucks.

According to RealClearPolitic's survey of polls, Paul is pulling about 7% in the primaries right now, putting him in fifth place. That's before the campaign has even really started.

In the general election, Obama crushes Paul. RealClearPolitics has three polls on an Obama/Paul matchup. One has Obama winning by 7 points, one by 8, and one by 9. That's about four points worse than Romney's performance on average.

Summary: Paul ain't winning this.

Ron Paul has run for President twice. Has he won more than 1 state in the primaries?

We definitely need to take a look at your polls Miles.

Rasmussen & CNN both have Paul in a dead heat with Obama.

Realclearpolitics? Definitely not a legit polling company that I've ever heard of.

Rasmussen has been the worst major poll outfit the last two cycles. The last CNN poll has Paul 7 points behind Obama and that was conducted before the mission was accomplished on bin Laden.

The Tea Party is a mass movement and by the looks of it, it isn't a good mass movement.
Anyhow, Joe, you forgot to post this picture:

Drug position does not a president make. Otherwise James, the local burger-flipping drug dealer would be in a federal office right now.

Wasn't it Ron Paul who advocated disbanding the Federal Reserve?

If so god help us all.

:yup: But what may make that work for him is that a lot of other people are against the Fed now too. And the Dems don't comprehend economics well enough to explain why the GOPers are wrong.

The best GOP candidate has

a) an easy position on 2nd Amendment, treat it like a 'no duh' position
b) concern about military and medicare overspending
c) a strong position on energy dependence, climate change, and sci-tech R&D
d) intermediate ties to the pro-life position, just enough to be 'better' than Obama, but not actually crazy
e) a moderate understanding of the financial crisis

I only wanted serious candidates in the poll really. I'm still not sure if I should have put in Mitt Romney, Trump, or Sarah Palin because they seem more like creations of the media-entertainment complex than respected leaders of the community.
Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee are the most serious guys in the field! If they were to be put together on one ticket, they would stand a chance of eclipsing Reagan's landslide.

Lets be realistic. Romney doesn't have a chance at beating Obama. The only candidate that does have a chance of beating Obama is the current GOP Frontrunner Ron Paul.
Romney would give Obama a whoopin'. He would clean up so well. It would be a landslide. Ron Paul? To be frank, he's a nobody who carries little to no weight in the big arena. I'd be surprised if he could win a primary.

If Ron Paul is the frontrunner, then the GOP is screwed. Paul is too wacky.
So true. Even I think he's a touch on the wacky side.

Any reason you hate Pawlenty so? He has a better chance of getting the nomination then Palin.
True. But I doubt he'll be much of a factor. I expect that if he gets a position on a ticket, it'll be VP.

Realclearpolitics? Definitely not a legit polling company that I've ever heard of.
They're the best polling place I've ever seen. They showed polls that predicted a massive upset in the elections last year. And you know what? That massive upset came to pass.

I dunno whats worse. The fact that Trump made the list or that people actually voted for him.
That he made the list. He is nowhere near being the best.
