Beta Testers Needed!

Good News, all around.

I successfully merged all of Dom Pedro's Diplomacy Changes for a new modmod "Advanced Diplomacy."

It will feature tons of new content:

  • Embassies must be traded, and you must have one in another nation before you can trade gold/techs or open borders.
  • You can trade for "Contact" to other Civilizations, Oldschool CivIII Style.
(For those who never played CivIII, you can trade for communications and to meet other nations that you haven't met with)
  • You can trade for Corporation Headquarters. A random city in your empire will become the new headquarter
  • You can trade for workers
  • You can trade military units. I haven't decided if to make all units tradable, or just machines and mechanical devices...
  • The AI will ask for declarations of War from other AI. Previously, the AI would only ask humans. (This will result in more World War Situations)
  • The AI will offer trades for Wars instead of just flat out demands.
  • The AI will offer trades for embargo's instead of flat out demands
  • The AI will "gift" units to Civilizations who are at war with their enemies.
  • The AI is all around better at Diplomacy, and should make the game more interesting.

And of course, this will all be a game option, so players who dislike these changes will be able to play without them.

I plan on releasing this beta by the weekend, if all goes well.

I just noticed this, and thx, i asked him for help on doing this for a standalone modcomp stuff, but he NEVER answered me on it in his thread, how about you ??:p

Also:

In all reality though, the next beta will be when I can get the new Civic Prerequisite tags working in the XML, and GeneralStaff's buildings merged. next weekend(posted 8 Nov:rolleyes: .

Yeah, with 32 bit anyway.
well that's suck:(
I guess i'll buy windows 7, but before that i must repair my dvd rom. That's quite a lot of money.Well, that's mean i'll lost all money i saved to buy xbox 360:p.Well, back to square on...(it's really hard to save a money as a high school student when you get hooked with a game:p)

On ebay, W7 home premium upgrades sell for $70-80. I would get a copy there first. No sense in paying more.

Reminds me of my high school, almost all the computers ran win98se. A copy of repwl, a usb drive, and a little time on my home computer was all it took to have a teacher's password for their novell login + grade system login (the same).

I was honest (with my grades at least) tho, so I didn't graduate on time

Linux is an option for a 64 bit OS, I was going to see if I could get mine working with WINE until I ended up being a debugger for Afforess. Ubuntu is really easy to install/use, repositories ftw (sometimes their packages are a bit out of date from the project's site tho).

Since you know alot more about puters than I, what would be better to buy an AMD 64 bit with ____

or

Intel 64 bit with ____?:crazyeye:

I'd get AMD 64-bit. But then I'm biased towards AMD, but I do think they make better parts, and at the very least, they don't participate in monopolistic practices like Intel does.

I finally tried out that membership thing you talked about.
I asked the bookstore at my university if they had Windows 7. They said, "Yeah, just take this form to Registrar's Office to approve your student status."
I did so and bought new Windows 7, 32-bit (only have 3gb ram) for 16 dollars!
Amazing! Now to install it later this evening...

AMD is much better bang for buck value, and doesn't participate in monopolistic practices as Afforess mentioned.

Intel has the SSE 4 instruction set which greatly helps with emulation, such as for pcsx2, and has more support for speedy RAM.

The things I mentioned had me go with Intel for my cpu, but built AMD-based computers for the rest of my family. Newegg is your friend for cheap parts :)

<snip>

<snip> (I refer to it as legacy cuz the only way to legally acquire winxp is by purchasing vista and "downgrading" to XP).

I can purchase it from Newegg.com. In fact I did just that, twice. Cost was ~$130. I didn't have to buy Vista and then downgrade. In fact I bought XP Pro 64 bit instead of Vista 64 bit. And Win7 just had its "Official" release only a month ago.

After Win7 gets more updates Then I may switch to it. But you don't have to Buy and then Downgrade Vista 64 to get XP Pro 64 bit. Lets debunk that myth right now.

Myth broken, since I'm sure that Myth Bus**d is a copyrighted slogan of the popular tv show of the similar name.

Myth Busted isn't a trademark. Even if it was, anyone can say it, just only that company can license it for products. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to tell people that you wear Nikes, or drink Coca-Cola.

Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Feature Bloat seems to be a problem I have... Just built a pre-beta test build installer, and it was 70mb! At least my modmods are optional... ;)

Oh, I know the team that makes the installer creator I use, InstallJammer, is working on a web-based deployment system, where you download only the components you want to install, which will speed up some installs. When they finish that, I will convert over to that system, but it may be a month or two.

I will try the next beta with the speed up built in it ... right? oh and did you add the brown interface? this I'll be able to test it with no other modmod :p

Yes, I did add the brown interface, although it's really more of a deep-red than a brown. ;)

Be warned though, that interface bumped my installer size up another 15mb.

What, that isn't enough for you?

(There have been a lot of changes in the back end, Like it will have Better AI .82, RevDCM 2.61, BUG 4.2, BULL 1.0, Etc...)

No its not that. There were little tidbits here and there that i saw in other posts that lead me to belive that they would be included ...

- "Limited" Open Borders Agreement (Rite of Passage)
- Farm Mod
- Brown Interface

That's all I can find at the moment. But I thought there was some other stuff.
