Biden Drops Out

I would be fine with Kemala. I think shes smart and I dont think that she will make from US socialist hellhole.

I do not understand dissapointed Biden fans. You cannot fight nature. Biden is a good president, but even awesome horse in age cannot win derbys.
You can speculate how healthy he really is now, but you have to count the whole mandate. If you would not worry to fly jet with 85 years pilot... well good luck. But trying to persuade all others thats natural its not.

FDR died in 63 and most of the failures was because his detoriating health in last years.

Put him out to stud. ;)

Oh who am I kidding? That's obsolete. Now you have frustrated stallions hump a dummy, scrape the... zest... into a freezer, and sell it to ship around for AI. Bet the horses have less fun.

Tbh i feel like we need a national moratorium on Vanceposting until it's legally too late for Trump to swap him out
Why clamp down on vanceposting? I don’t know, I’m just in the mood of getting back at the Pharisees and Trump Cultists and seeing it blow up in their faces.

I agree Biden has been the best domestic President since like LBJ but in the kind of society that you and I want to build, Gaza will vastly overshadow that. Biden is even going to be hated by whatever Zionists survive the collapse of Israel because he failed to restrain it from acting on its worst and most self-destructive instincts.

Aside from that, simply recognizing reality is no weakness. The most reputable pollster in Michigan had him losing the state by 9 points on the Friday before dropout weekend, 17 points behind where he was running at the same time in 2020. What would have been a real disaster was running Biden into a landslide defeat and then gaslighting everyone about it ("he lost because you didn't support him hard enough!!")
It's not gaslighting, it's just literally true, he would only lose if we wasn't supported enough. That's all elections are :crazyeye:

That people come to their conclusions in a diversity of ways, yeah, that's reality, and boy are people way more excited for Harris, of all people. I'm loving it. I don't love how people balked at one bad debate, letting Republican lies and propaganda fill their perception with bias, and then Democrats lost their nerve, as Democrats are wont to do. But it happened.

The Republicans successfully convinced lots of people they "just didn't like Hillary", then they successfully convinced people that Biden is senile. Maybe the new Meta is just hide our candidates until right before the convention, and keep rotating in competent new surprises. Obama basically was that, too. Clinton in 1992. For bonus points, we all vote at once, ranked choice, in August.

Framing wise, Biden right now is coming across Washingtonian for stepping down for the good of [vibes]. I mean, it's going great. I'm very happy. Indeed, it's looking like it was a great decision. And his legacy, and therefore attention at what he did, is quite bolstered.

Things I didn't expect:
1) a sudden change of opinion toward Harris on the national level. Turns out being VP was great for her brand.
2) the amount of griping about old people is translating to polls, considering its the voters who voted the old people.

Things I don't know:
On the side of him leaving being good. Maybe Biden was not only looking bad, but actually is struggling truly. I don't think so, he seems basically the same to me, a little worse, than 2020. He was pretty bad then! And he's been great.
On the side of him leaving not being great. How much of this presidency's goodness has been Biden's integrity times the democrats, vs just been the democrats. How much is his secret Senate skills, and how much is the times and just the democrats? How good is Harris? She was good Senator, a vicious DA (maybe a good thing for a president especially right now)....

I expect Harris to be good. In fact, the MMT scene even says her grandpa was an early postkeynesian economist. I haven't followed up just a couple headline tweets.

So it's going great.

Assuming my read on Biden's health is correct, I still blame the gullibility of Americans for it coming to this, but that's where this is, so given that, so far so good!

Ah, the the continued method of pretending away the wealth of competitors while printing money for the loyal.

Well, it works for a lot of people. Like gold did, but different.

what are you talking about

"Limitless" money?

We've actually had interest rates again for a minute instead of paying the richest people to suck interest out of everyone else.

I watched the debate. I don't normally watch, and didn't want to, but my mother-in-law wanted to watch it and my wife comes from a culture where arguing with one's mother is a big taboo.

In the first thirty seconds of Biden speaking I was like "oh Biden's done this is over." I even posted it here on this website. That was in real-time, no media reaction necessary.

Further response to your post to come. I don't have any great faith in Harris but we have to keep Trump out of the white house.

30 minutes in was terrible, but by the end he was doing better and Trump worse.

Probably Democratic monetary policy in the boring lived way instead of the fun theoretical way.

You mean how they keep cutting the deficit when they shouldn't? Yeah it's a problem. We're getting better. But they/we keep doing it.

Inflation Reduction Act taxes more it spends. TBF, it is in the name.

Well, perhaps that's why the IRS refuses to acknowledge reciept of my tax return. Had to start over from zero.

Frankly, it just feels like choosing clout.

Trump is showing his age and limitations. Bad decisions on tone, message, this past week.

Gotta clip in FDR, I usually put in Eisenhower for the Cross of Iron mentality that demilitarized the economy in the face of Cold War militarization, and let's have the 5th place float. I probably need to include Jackson for the first poor people voting but... ****ing Jackson. Ew.

You absolutely do not have to hand it to Andrew "said screw you to the Supreme Court when they told him to stop genociding so hard" Jackson

Credit where is due even to genocidal monsters.

A good idea is a good idea.

Can we have a graph plotting the weekly odds?
I do not know how I failed before, there are loads.

Wow, I often put more weight on betting odds than polls. There is a lot of money to be made or lost if they get the odds wrong.

Someone out there put a big bet on Harris a few weeks back and is now wandering around with an odd smile on their face!
