Orders for Update Nine:
When the Saint Vikings heard of the massive raider presence in Tampa, they became very cautious and worried of our Radio Tower revealing our presence. Xavier, due to these pressing concerns, ordered the temporary shutdown of the station to eliminate that risk.
Making his way deeper into the vault than he had been in many years, he came upon a hatch-door labeled "POST-WAR LIVABILITY." Enabling the code that had been passed down from Overseer to Overseer, he stepped in and removed a briefcase with the letters G.E.C.K etched into it: the Garden of Eden Creation Kit. A pre-war device that was supposed to have been stocked in every major Vault-Tec vault, but was ultimately only distributed to a select few, had the power to incinerate everything in its detonation radius and to rebuild everything at the molecular level, resulting in a lush environment of habitable paradise. Xavier brushed the thick dust off the casing...
Movements / Orders -Construct 3 Canoes and 3 Rafts. (250 Scrap, 3 Tech)
-Build another layer of Fortifications around Hangarville. (500 Scrap)
-Shut down the Radio Tower immediately until the G.E.C.K detonates and erases Tampa. Resume normal broadcasting once it is confirmed the Raiders have been destroyed.
-After the destruction/rebirth of Tampa send 1 Canoe, 1 Raft with 20 1-H Guns to survey the new situation in the Tampa region.
OPERATION EDEN -Send an expert team (40 with 1-H, 30 with 2-H, 10 with LW) with the G.E.C.K technology across the bay to land as close to the Tampa Int'l Airport as possible. Take EXTREME CAUTION in transporting the device and once landfall is made. The location has been chosen to be halfway between Town 'N' Country and Tampa to ensure the decimation of Raiders in the vicinity and to have the possibility of leaving the Air Force Base untouched. The team is to be as quiet and steathly as possible, to reduce any resistance from nearby factions.
-When the G.E.C.K device and the team arrive on shore, arm the device and leave a group of 20 with 1-H Guns, 10 with 2-H Guns, 5 with LW to ensure the device detonates successfully and to defend the G.E.C.K with their lives.
-Temporarily evacuate the citizens of Hangarville into the Vault to protect them from any ill effects of the G.E.C.K blast. Leave enough men to man the defenses of Hangarville in case of an attack. After the blast, allow the citizens of Hangarville to return to their settlement.

Governor's Challenge
Spoiler:
The launching of a radio broadcast has begun to attract large amounts of immigrants into our area, particularly those who had been avoiding it previously when the spider-ants dominated. Many are likely looking for habitation and safety in the Sunshine Wasteland, and Leesburg already invited a large number to live with them. These new immigrants are likely to come in large amounts, and some of our more cautious people are not eager to invite them all into the vault. They have recommended that instead Leesburg ought to be the destination for the new members of the Commonwealth, preventing that sort from overwhelming the Vault. How do we respond?

CHALLENGE
In the interest of preserving the integrity of the Emerald Vault, we shall at this time restrict new arrivals from the waste from residing in the waste. We will begin broadcasting the necessary requirements of obtaining citizenship and voting rights (including arriving with useful materials and weapons), and the expected duties from which those rights are derived from. Settlement shall be focused on Leesburg, but a project will be started to build settlement and fortifications around Vault 77 (it doesn't have to be done in a turn right?)
During this year, A party of 120 (75 Laser, 45 1-h guns) will travel west towards Umatilla, scouting and scavenging for various loot based items. The group will push down towards the edge of the spider ant territory, looting for anything missed. And then return home.
Later in the year, a similarly equipped group attempt an expedition up towards Ocala, searching for scraps on the way home.
Finally a third group of 75 (25 lasers, 50 1-h) will travel west to Wildwood to do some intensive scavenging.

Overseer’s Challenge: Reopen the door. Promise elections to be held in 5 years, in the American way -- but the raider threat needs to be dealt with first.
TENSIONS MOUNT IN OCALA. A wave of public fervor has been aroused against the Vanguards in Ocala, as the local clergy denounces them for alleged massacres in the east. They claim that the vanguards have slaughtered entire innocent communities in Sanford and Deltona, as one member of the clergy even claims to be a member of the settlements there. They claimed that thriving settlements were destroyed by the Vanguards in their efforts to destroy all faith and religion in the Sunshine Wasteland. At first, most of these notions were taken with a grain of salt, but when an expedition failed to return from a trading mission with the Vanguards in Citra, the local leadership feared the worst. The families of those lost in the expedition gathered outside the new Vanguard embassy, frequently pelting it with stones, and any one foolish enough to stand outside received the same treatment. Clearly a public tide of resentment has shifted against the Vanguards.
TAMPA DESTROYED IN UNKNOWN ENERGY BURST. The ruins of Tampa, long a massive blight on the west coast of Florida, have disappeared in a flash of light, along with the thousands of inhabitants within. Local radio channels went down briefly before the blast and did not return for several weeks later, but made no mention of what occurred. Initial reports seemed to indicate the detonation of a nuclear weapon in Tampa, but people who have travelled there and to other communities have delivered baffling information to others. Apparently the radioactive ruins of Tampa have been turned into a verdant oasis filled with foods of all types just hanging plentifully off the vines and branches within. Some of have brushed these reports off as the ramblings of madmen, but some of the more education wonder if perhaps the legendary Garden of Eden Creation Kit invented by Vault-Tec may have been a real thing after all.
NASA MARKET INCIDENT THROWS ALLIANCE INTO UPROAR. Chaos ensued in the aftermarket of the Nasa market as investigations by private individuals led to the release and freedom of a number of slaves being traded there. Denouncements by these freed individuals showed that some of them were former members of Christmas or Fort Cocoa, and were taken by slavers and sold at the Nasa market. This spurred some considerable violence in the aftermarket area, and limited rioting among the less legitimate stalls. The other communities of the area have been outraged by Nasas de facto support for the slave trade and the enslavement of their people. On the airwaves, the Sunshine Wasteland has been told by Radio Socialism all about the incident, claiming that those who travel to the market could very well end up becoming the wares sold there, denouncing it as runaway capitalism at work. Nasa Radio has downplayed the incident, which has only further upset the other Congress members. Reportedly, this could be placing the Congress on the verge of collapse.
Faction Reports
Atomic Foxes
Spoiler:
It seems that the fortunes have finally begun to turn for the Atomic Foxes. The supplies from Lakeshire arrived without incident and the Foxes at last seem to have stabilized to a degree. They have argued over the possibility of inviting new people to join their community, and it seems that a decision has been made. A substantial force was sent to the area of Lake Park, and thoroughly swept it of all hostile wildlife in a sustained operation. The task force remained, using some of the bunkers stockpiles of scrap and local resources to establish a new outpost in the ruins. Local parts continued to be salvaged for the next few months, and passing wanderers were invited to join the new community and stronghold. The influx of new immigrants have acted as a base for the growth of the faction, as farming has begun, helping further ease previous shortages.

Commanders Challenge: Our situation has stabilized at last! Unfortunately, our leader Mila Quinn sustained a poisonous sting from a local mutated insect. We did not realize until too late the damage inflicted by the creature and she is near death. The time has come to find a successor, and we are unsure who to pick. There are only two passable candidates. One is an enigmatic new immigrant who has already shown himself to be a great asset to the community, though he is still not completely trusted. The other is the son of Commander Quinn, who took after his mothers fearsome nature. Which of these candidates would be best suited to be our new commander?
Children of the Rapture
Shortly before the bombs fell, a large Baptist summer camp for youth was being hosted at the Florida Caverns State Park. The handful of adult volunteers and the Baptist youth took refuge deep within the cavern system, dragging what meager supplies they had with them. Living off of the cave fungus and the fresh water from the caverns, the group came to believe that they were Gods chosen ones, spared from the Lords fiery wrath to populate the earth once again with believers. After the original adult workers died off and the radiation faded slightly, the Reverend Fred Phil arrived to lead the group back out into the light. Once just a member of the congregation, he has risen up to lead his flock in a quest to bring salvation to the earth. Believed to be divinely inspired, he is thought to possess the ability to bring about miracles.

Reverends Challenge: There are many unbelievers travelling throughout the wastes, some seeking a new home to be spared the ravages of our times. These people would likely be interested in living in our community. What sort of policy should we set to would-be immigrants to our group?
The Conch Thalassocracy of the Keys
Spoiler:
The Thalassocracy began this year as they ended last year, huddling in fear at the threat of another storm of raiders destroying everything they worked so hard to build. With no hope but to use their guns but clubs, an expedition was sent to the northeast to try to find the source of radio signals they received from an alleged vault. Unfortunately, they werent able to make contact, but they stumbled upon a concealed pre-war ammunition dump loaded to the hilt with all types of munitions. There werent many guns, but there was more than enough ammunition to last for years. The boat itself was near capsizing with the sheer amount of ammo loaded on board, and smoking was forbidden on pain of explosion. The expedition returned and brought with them, hope for the future, as the ammunition will once more allow them to defend their island against the raider threat. A secondary expedition was sent to continue salvage on Marathon island, but met with very little success as it is clear that easily salvageable material has begun to run out, and more labor intensive efforts must be undertaken to continue to salvage old roads and foundations.

High Doge-Presidents Challenge: Someone has been stealing from the Presidents personal stockpiles and luxuries. Numerous luxury items and sweetrolls have gone missing to this unknown thief. Monastic Brotherhood of Poor-Fellows and Crusader Knights
Spoiler:
The Brotherhood has had a quiet start to the year with not much going on at the main Citadel. The focus of these few months has been a prolonged exploratory and salvage mission taking them south. The first stop was a collection of suburbs known as The Villages, which they found to be empty of any real threats or hostile forces. A decent amount of scrap was recovered and brought along for the remainder of the expedition. Taking a turn to the east, they passed by the town of Leesburg, which claimed to represent the New Gulf Commonwealth. Somewhat friendly greets were exchanged, and the Brotherhoods expedition carried on their way to the ruined town of Grand Island. Very little was found here, only the slimmest amount of scrap was recovered, and it is clear that the town is tapped out of any meaningful scrap at this point. The expedition carried on to the much larger town of Deland, where they were forced to fight their way through a number of monsters of all types. Still, they managed to recover a decent amount of scrap and even salvage some tech parts from a buried stash. With these successes, while minor, the Brotherhood returned to the Citadel, hauling their loot with them.

Grandmasters Challenge:With the past couple of years seeing a number of new members entering our ranks, these new initiates seem a bit uncertain about God and who we serve. While they have some inkling of the divine and have been shown the Bible, they are unclear at exactly what sort of Church the Grandmaster and his people serve. These are dangerous notions according to our leadership, and should be suppressed, but no one is quite certain on how to handle the situation. How do we respond to this uncertainty among our newest members?
Nasa
Spoiler:
Nasa has continued to undertake new efforts to bond the people of their region closer together. This year the attempt continued to be trumpeted on the airwaves, despite obvious and miserable failure. The sport of football was attempted to be reintroduced to Florida, but failed as very few knew how to play the game and it was of little interest. Baseball fever continues to be running at a peak, as numerous teams have already formed, and support for football is minimal outside of Nasa itself. Thankfully, the region was peaceful throughout these six months, allowing people to debate sports without outside interference. A survey expedition was launched to the eastern barrier islands by Nasa, hoping to determine the arability of the region. The expedition stopped at the old Nasa bunker, and found it to be worthless for farming, and flooded. The area as a whole to the direct east of Nasa and Mims is too wet and radioactive for any sort of farming. The expedition found the same scenario in Merritt Island, the area was completely unsuitable for any type of farming. On the plus side, exploration of the town found a sealed US Army truck in the streets, apparently intact. Within was a number of salvageable tech parts, and more significantly two Fat Man Mini-Nuke launchers along with a substantial amount of suitable mini-nukes. This powerful weapon had previously only been rumored to exist, and now has been added to the Nasa arsenal. Journeying to Patrick Air Force Base proved uneventful, and most of the bases automated defenses were decayed and no longer functioning. The expedition swept aside what defenses remained to begin their surveying. Some loose tech parts were recovered, but the expedition was unable to undertake a thorough exploration of the base, after surveying the place for arability. It was determined that the soil was suitable for very limited farming, much like Titusville. The expedition returned home with no incident.

Commanders Challenge: The unrest in the aftermarket has led to extreme dissent among our people and allies. They claim that the Commander has turned a blind eye to suffering and slavery on our very doorstep and is not worthy of the post. A goodly number of former slaves we have liberated in the past are on the verge of open revolt. On the other hand, if we should crack down on the aftermarket, it could greatly diminish the effectiveness of the market as a whole, and a number of our people have been profiting greatly and would be highly upset if we should take the measures needed. How do we respond?
New Age Corporation
Spoiler:
The New Age Corporation has had its first successes as a fully-fledged faction based out of Saint Augustine. Some newly emplaced immigration restrictions has rubbed a few of the old inhabitants the wrong way, but overall, it has been explained as a needed move due to possible food and water shortages. A massive band of raiders attacked the city from the north out of Jacksonville, but as with past attacks, the artillery and rifle fire of Saint Augustines defense was more than enough to drive off the attackers with minimal casualties. This victory allowed the inhabitants to continue efforts at salvage locally, from places that had been previously salvaged over the years since the war. Still, they were fortunate. In addition to ample recovered scrap, one salvage team stumbled across an old RobCo warehouse outside of town that had never previously been breached. After breaking in, they discovered fifteen inert Mr. Handy robots. They were easily reactivated, and have been put to use serving the rising community.
In addition to local salvage, an expedition was dispatched to the southwest to survey neighboring towns, an action that previous administrations had not undertaken. The first stop was Elkton, a small community, and there they found a US government facility that was dedicated to the destruction of interned citizens firearms before the war. A large number of guns were still there and intact, along with limited ammunition for each. These weapons were recovered and shipped back to Saint Augustine with glee, adding ample firepower to the citys armory. The town itself was determined to be empty of any actual threats, but fairly well suited to farming. The rest of the journey was slightly less eventful, travelling to Hastings next, and finding it full of giant ants, who proved immediately hostile to the expedition, forcing them to defend themselves against frequent attacks while surveying. The town itself was determined to be somewhat arable for farming. The next stop was the eastern part of the town of Palatka to the south, which had been rumored to have been the source of a party that called themselves the Vanguards which visited a few years ago. Contact was briefly made with these Vanguards before the expedition turned around and went back to Saint Augustine.

CEOs Challenge: The recovery of the Mr. Handys has led to a property debate among our people. Some claim that these useful machines ought to be owned by the community as a whole, allowing them to complete public works and salvage for the betterment of all. Others claim that the robots should be owned by those who recovered them. The main heads of our corporation suggest that the robots should be rewards to those most deserving, namely the hard worked executive class of our society. The people involved in this debate are emotionally invested in their opinions and favoring one choice over the others could lead to unfortunate backlash from those who we shun. How do we respond?
New Gulf Commonwealth
Spoiler:
The New Gulf Commonwealth had a slow start to the year, with very little taking place on the home front. Some were concerned about a redirection in immigration policy which has effectively reduced immigration by one hundred percent, as very few have any of the desired items that the Commonwealth is looking for. Those that do seem to be choosing to migrate to other places where they wont have to give up their hard-won salvage. Three expeditions were launched by the Commonwealth to other areas, looking for new places and learning more of the larger world around them. The first such expedition went north towards Ocala, hoping to do some salvaging there, but found themselves politely rebuffed by the local population of Ocala which has claimed salvage rights in the area. At the time of their expedition, they encountered a large group outside of Leesburg, stating that they represent the Monastic Brotherhood of Poor-Fellows and Crusader Knights, based somewhere further north. They had a friendly encounter but then departed on their separate ways. When the expedition was on its way back from Ocala, they sought to recover from their failure to salvage there by looking through the Villages for anything of value. They were surprised to find a concealed US Army caravan with an attached howitzer piece. The artillery piece was painstakingly removed and hauled back by hand to Leesburg, fully intact and ready for combat.
The second expedition was destined for Umatilla, similarly hoping for salvage. They were equally disappointed, arriving to find an existing settlement which already claimed local salvage rights. They were politely turned back without incident, and sent home empty handed. The third expedition to the town of Wildwood had a little more success, arriving and finding the area to be populated with all sorts of hostile creatures, thankfully without any organization. They were able to hold attacks at bay, long enough to salvage throughout the area, even reclaiming a number of tech parts from a local store. They returned home without incident, thankful for their success.

Governors Challenge: A few of our people have expressed dissent at the decision to force immigrants to provide new supplies to aid our community. They claim that we have more than enough food and water to welcome in hundreds of immigrants without any restrictions, stating that our leader has fallen victim to irrational fears and paranoia. They warn that failure to open the doors once again could lead to the Commonwealth being over powered by other groups we have encountered such as the Vanguards or Brotherhood. How do we respond to this rude dissent?
The story of the Pox Chains Gang has come to a sad and violent end. Faced with the morass of Jacksonville to the east, the leadership decided to return west to meet up with the friendly community of Live Oak to unify against the raider threat known as the Scourge. Determined to unite and face a common foe, the gang began moving once more to the west. Unfortunately, the Scourge was waiting for them, having screened the Gangs movements and following them for several months. When the Pox attempted to reach their potential new allies, they fell victim to a major ambush by the Scourge. Without any ammunition for their more powerful weapons, the Pox were badly outnumbered and devastated by the attackers. Those who took up arms fought bravely, but not well enough to survive. A few unarmed people escaped from the chaos, but those who were not slaughtered by the initial attack were enslaved by the Scourge or worse. Edward Pox himself died fighting with a sword in his hand, attempting to hold a group of raiders at bay to allow his family to escape and only partially succeeding. The remnants of the Gang are scattered across the Sunshine Wasteland, another group of victims of the barbarians of the wastes.
Saint Vikings
Spoiler:
The Saint Vikings, aware of their precarious position in the ruins of Greater Tampa, made a bold move to eliminate all possible threats in the area. Sending a well-armed and equipped team into Tampa itself, they sought to deploy a Vault-Tec Garden of Eden Creation Kit within the city limits. Little is known about what actually transpired on this expedition, which consisted of nearly one hundred people with the best weapons that could be provided. All that is known is that they successfully activated the device, detonating it somewhere in the heart of Tampa. The device apparently worked flawlessly as advertised, reducing the towering structures, places, and people within Tampa to the molecular level, and then reassembling them in the creation of a verifiable paradise. Thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of people were killed in the process, as the urban setting was transformed into one of verdant trees and plants covered with any imaginable edible fruits and vegetables. There were no survivors. Word eventually trickled back to the vault of the success of the operation, but none of the expedition sent were ever recovered, and its unknown if they even attempted to leave the city before detonation. Regardless, the raider threat has been eliminated and the security of the Saint Vikings has been cleared for the time being.

Overseers Challenge: The use of the GECK in Tampa has horrified a large number of our people, using this device as a weapon. The slaughter of thousands, including any innocents and slaves living in the ruins is not sitting well with a portion of our population. This includes those who object on moral grounds and those who may have even had family living in Tampa before migrating to our territory. The noise of dissent is at its highest so far, and all are calling for the head of the Overseer. How do we respond?
Vanguards
Spoiler:
The Vanguards experienced some significant change on the home front, as the leading council members developed new laws and ordinances for the management of the factions fledgling police force. The police themselves emerged bitter at these changes, claiming that they hinder the effectiveness of their efforts. Thankfully, despite the alleged hindrances, the police seemed to have stopped the wave of murders which took place last year. No further killings have occurred, and police suspect that the murderer may have been killed in last years expedition. Also on the home front, the Vanguards hoped to build new relations with the town of Vanguard by a trade for ammunition. Unfortunately the expedition sent to Citra failed to return, and all those sent were lost, and the ammunition and tech part sent to trade for it were lost.
Last years successful expedition spurred the launching of a new one. Leaving first from Congress City and then rallying at Gainesville, the new grand expedition was set to explore the more westerly areas of the Floridian peninsula. Four hundred members, armed with the best the faction could offer, departed Gainesville with substantial pomp and circumstance. Ten returned four months later, haggard and bedraggled, the last free survivors of the ill-fated expedition. They were able to relay the tale of the expedition to leadership in Congress City, telling of their triumphs and eventual destruction. They stated that the expedition first ran into trouble at Williston, where some extremely tough animals existed, taking down several dozen of the fighters, until ultimately killed by ranged weapons. They next moved on to Morriston, where they engaged with a moderately sized group of raiders with no long-ranged weapons, allowing for an easy victory, but the rest of the groups ammo ran out with that battle. Thankfully, the raiders had more than enough melee weapons for the group as a whole, and the leaders of the expedition were not too alarmed. Collections of monsters at Beverly Hills and Homosassa were fairly easily dispatched with minimal losses, though by this point the group had been reduced from four hundred to less than three hundred. When the group arrived at Floral City, they were engaged with another band of raiders, larger than the last, and over a third of the remaining expedition was killed before the raiders were defeated. A bit more ragged than they had been before the expedition pushed onward to Sumterville, where they were attacked by the largest band of raiders ever encountered to date. To make matters worse, these raiders were well armed with assault rifles and other ranged weapons, thoroughly outmatching the expedition, who only had melee weaponry remaining. The expedition was defeated and pursued through the wild, and only a single small part of ten eluded the raiders. The rest were slain, eaten, or enslaved. They escaped the north and barely managed to find their way back to Ocala, where they were disallowed entry, but given notice of the proper direction to travel. Only then were the remnants of the failed expedition able to return home.

Comrades Challenge: Comrade Oscar has been assassinated! His throat was cut in the night by an unknown assailant. This has left three people in prime positions to take power. Comrade Kimberley, a charismatic person popular among the masses could gain power through popular support. Comrade Roxanne, an enigmatic leader of the Bureau of the Interior could easily coerce or otherwise convince the leadership to give her power. Vault 40
Spoiler:
Vault 40s dwellers have seen a true battle and with it an incredible victory in arms. An expedition of 70 men were sent west to salvage the ruins of Naples, but a scout spotted a massive force of armed people headed towards the vault along the Tamiami Trail. These raiders were the feared Swamp Snakes who dominated Naples and posed a grave threat to any local good people. With their slaves in tow, the Swamp Snakes were clearly seeking to locate Vault 40 for themselves as a safe stronghold for their debauchery. Well aware that the vault would have no other notice of safety, the expedition determined to hold their ground, using the encroaching swamp to guard their flanks and nullify the enemy numbers. The Swamp Snakes were surprised at first, but eventually recovered their bearing and launched attack after attack on the hastily assembled barricades in the road. After losing two hundred men in these head-on attacks, they attempted to flank around the barricades through the swamps, but the only news of these efforts were animalistic noises and screaming along with the occasional gunfire. Faced with defeat, the raiders turned instead towards using their heavy weapons to bombard the barricades with missiles. This was looking to be highly effective, when the vault dwellers were saved by a revolt among the raiders slaves. The revolt was successful, and the raiders were wiped out and to an extent it proved that the slaves rescued the vault dwellers. The surviving vault dwellers led the slaves back to the vault with as much supplies as they could carry, though they had to abandon the food and water stocks of the Swamp Snakes due to a lack of storage space in the vault. The freed slaves were welcomed into the vault, as word of the victory returned with them, and the dead were honored as heroes.
A secondary expedition was sent to the east, seeking the ruins of the great city of Miami. The expedition found the Tamiami Trail eastbound from the vault to be much more hostile and unyielding than the westbound route, much of it overgrown or disappeared completely into the swamps. The expedition had few safe places to camp and were constantly fighting for lives against animals and the elements. The outskirts of Miami were equally inhospitable, with the streets choked with ruins and all sorts of new beasties facing the vault dwellers. Giant ants, mirelurks, radroaches, ghouls, alligators, and even some (but not many) of the giant snakes seen further east were seen within the outer ruins of Miami. Some salvage was recovered throughout this part of the expedition, as they worked to clear roads to allow passage. The expedition came to a halt when they neared the downtown area, as not only were the roads thoroughly blocked, but many tilted skyscrapers were looming half sunken out of a drowned harbor. Those few foolish enough to enter the water were immediately tugged in by unknown sources, while winged reptilian creatures flew in the heights of the wrecked buildings. One person even claimed to have seen one of these creatures breathing fire, but these statements seem dubious at best. The expedition survived the ruins, and returned down the trail, reporting the fate of Floridas greatest city to the vault.

Overseers Challenge: Weve had a massive influx of new members with the surprise defeat of the Swamp Snakes. Our people have been immensely grateful that these former slaves saved our people, but some are concerned about the implications of an entirely new group into our formerly homogenous society. Some of these people could be less than desirable members of society or have other harmful intentions. Our people have suggested that efforts be made to fortify the area around the vault and to house new immigrants there, or alternatively sequester them in a side wing of the vaults residences and keep them under constant guard. How do we respond to these suggestions?

At this time, we cannot afford to increase our supply of your forces to more than your biannual size. Once weve accumulated a larger base stockpile of supplies, we can offer sale of larger amounts than that over the course of a year. Obviously if starvation beckons, we will be willing to supply you with the foodstuffs and water you need to survive. Of course at this time, will cease sending food supplies, with your increased production. Water will still come as scheduled.

At this time we are discontinuing the existence of your embassy in our territory. Your ambassadors and people are no longer welcome in our town for the time being. We are sad that hopes for an amicable relationship have been dashed, but we simply do not feel we can trust your people.
To: Nasa

From: Fort Cocoa
We will no longer be participating in any local defense pact or agreements with your state. Good day.
OOC
For all concerned, if theres anything youd like to see more of in the updates or information that you feel ought to be included, let me know and well see about adding it as a feature. Obviously if its too much work, expect me to tell you no.
Since I was asked this question I figured all should know the answer: The typical assumed Military Skill of an NPC Settlement is around 5. The typical assumed Military Skill of raiders is around 10. The longer these groups exist the higher the military skill is assumed to be.
There was an obscene amount of really lucky finds this update. I suppose its about time, since weve only gotten a couple over the past ten updates, but dear god, I never expected this many in one update. Seriously, so far weve gotten FIVE lucky finds in a single turn, and over the course of the rest of the NES, weve only gotten THREE. Enjoy your luck while youve got it you bastards. I will end you.
@Quisani: When it comes to settlement expansion, I assume that local materials are used, and scrap parts are not needed for such construction. If you wish to increase size/scale of fortifications, however, you will have to do the outright purchase of 500 Scraps has laid out on the front page.
@Everblack: A valiant effort indeed to keep things going despite the odds. Feel free to start another faction or to take an established NPC group.
I can say that its 100% certain we will not be having an update next week, as my schedule will not allow for it. Get your orders in when you can, well resume broadcast on schedule the following week.
OOC: What a fun read, and a sad year for the Vanguards. EQ, can I hold an election for the next leader of the commune?

Our own expedition was destroyed in Citra too, a sad and probably avoidable failure. We hold nothing against the people of Ocala, and, knowing of your probable use of the tech part to further develop your water supplies, we wish to give you the tech part as a humanitarian gift, on condition that our ambassadors are allowed to return to your settlement. How does Ocala feel about this?
@JK Stockholme: Yes, though really an election would give you Kimberley over the others, de facto. She has by far the most popular support overall, as the other two are more popular among their particular social groups and types rather than just overall.

We are willing to accept your deal, but on the condition that ambassadors are confined to their building, and not allowed to be armed. Of course, assuming good behavior and a lessening of tensions among our people, we would remove that restriction after a period of time.
@Lord Herobrine: You'll have to discover that for yourself through scouting, as should be apparent, scouting was not possible this time. However, it may have had a larger radius than you suspected, but that's all I'll say for now.

We apologize for the actions and events that have taken place in the so called aftermarket. The Discovery that the deplorable practice of slavery is taking place there is one that is shocking to Nasa, especially to find that people of the Alliance (Including some of our own citizens) are being sold there. We are committed to end slavery, as should be evidenced by our leading role in destroying the Slavers known as the Beach Boys and taking in their former slaves. We are immediately moving to shut down the aftermarket, and sincerely hope that there is some form of restitution that we can provide to those afflicted by this blight. We also hope that some agreement can be made to maintain the goodwill and alliance that have so far done a significant job in keeping our slice of paradise safe. What can we do to prove our goodwill?
@Thomas: See below for the general NPC attitude towards affairs, Fort Cocoa is the only one responding because they are the only one making an official issue of the situation.

As we speak, Nasa forces are shutting the aftermarket down, freeing slaves and capturing slavers. We ask that you send representatives to act with us as juries in the trials of these wicked individuals.
Well dam luck was not on my side o well here the new guys on the block.
Faction Name: Maritime Collective Leader Name: Aerwyna Beckett Leader Trait: Scavenger Starting Location: Pensacola, Florida Leader Background: Aerwyna is the descendants from a family who members were part of the Navy when they took part in the war to push the Chinese out of Alaska. Ever since after the battle the Beckett family were honor as heros for achieving great feats of valor and there amazing leaderships skills. It wasn't long that everyone in Pensacola knew of the Beckett and by chance Aerwyna great great grand father was nominated Mayor of Pensacola. After the nuclear missiles fly off and destroy most of the USA the people of Pensacola need guidance more then ever and the Beckett family rise to the occasion. Since then she and her family have been the figure heads lending the Maritime Collective. Beside Aerwyan in help her lend is her two brother's Taylor and Daniel Beckett. Origins: Survivors Traits: Industrious Capital Type: Urban Ruin Background: The Maritime Collective are mostly Survivors of the now ruined sea port city Pensacola who under Aerwyna and her family guidance survived in that Aerwyna and her brother would help out when doing Scavenger run since Aerwya had a good eye for founding things. The People of The Maritime Collective use small sea craft to navigate the waters to scavenge building material from downed ship for their survival.
We'll keep our ambassadors unarmed, and accept them being confined to the land designated for our Party Office (i.e. they may make statements outside the building proper), but we must be allowed to recover our image in the minds of your people - especially as the Monastic Brotherhood spreads vicious lies about us freely.
For example one lie asserted that the raider camps in Deltona and Stanford - which we take every pleasure in admitting we destroyed - were anything but bastions of slavers and cannibals. We discovered a similar raider city in Sumter - something Ocala might do well to heed - and had we the manpower, we would have destroyed their wretched outpost of tyranny months ago. Instead the ten survivors of the huge expedition meant to pacify the wastes for peace-loving settlements like Ocala and Congress City were greeted with disdain because the Brotherhood had been allowed to spread false libel about us.
We want every opportunity to prove our friendliness to Ocala - without resorting to lies.
From Radio Socialism
To the Sunshine Wasteland
The Vanguards of Congress City claim full responsibility for the investigations which led to the exposition of the Nasa sanctioned slave trade. Nasa's aftermarket was a wretched hive of scum and villainy, one Nasa knew had a slave trade since its inception, but the regular market is only a less brutal form of the same evil! Rich men compete for control of the labour of others, and much like slaves, the wasters that toil for scavenged goods or new produce get little for their effort, to the benefit of a small few. Watch as the rich class of Nasa's old world society fights against any attempt to stop the aftermarket's activities. Watch as the aftermarket becomes a black market, operating in the shadows among the same vicious men. Nasa does not emancipate the slaves, it moves the slave trade into the dark! Only if the wasters unite can they bargain for their fair share, and only through revolution can these fat cats be dethroned!
Communists demand more than the end of the slave trade, we demand the end of the market which creates slavery and the exploitation of the common man.
Nasa is sad to inform the people of the sunshine wasteland that the rumors and information regarding the so called "after-market" are true. The Slave Trade, a blight on all civilization, was being conducted unbeknownst to our people. Rest assured, however, that this vile practice has been shut down, the aftermarket burned to the ground, and that many of those victimized by vile men and women have been freed and returned home, including some of our very own citizens!
While we commend Radio Socialism in their fervor to protect the people of the Sunshine Waste, we must also decry their haste in baring the news to the wasteland. Nasa forces had been conducting an investigation of the so called "aftermarket," hoping to capture and destroy all those who participate in this vile trade. However, Radio-socialism forced our hand, forcing us to act before all our pieces were set, allowing some slavers to escape. Rest Assured, they WILL be hunted down and brought to justice. A court and jury comprising randomly chosen representatives of the afflicted settlements has been assembled, and the slavers will be brought to law.
That being said, we invite representatives of the Vanguards to set up an office in the market, where they will be able to speak to the people who gather in this place. We hope that they will come to recognize that the Nasa Market is NOT a tool for oppression, but rather a place of gathering and peace, where news and goods can be traded safely.
Nasa Remains committed to freedom, committed to bringing the light of civilization back to these lands. Perhaps our words are not enough, but our actions have always been towards freedom, equality, and prosperity for all: From the Defense of the Cities of the Alliance, to the destruction of the slaver bands of the Beach Boys, to, now, the burning of the slaver Aftermarket, Nasa is committed to making florida safe for all to live.
This is commander Jayne Bede, and to you, Florida, I give my word.
