I don't really see how calling a politician a nasty name is grounds for having your show cancelled, but it's fun to see the left descending into auto-cannibalism.

Auto-cannibalism FTW! 'cause human flesh, is so yummy! Mr. Sir; With that arm that looks delicious......
*aaaauuggh!

The only adult person in Trump's "family" who I would somewhat sympathize with is Melania. I feel like she married Donald for money, and then he decided to run for president, and now she has do to all this bullcrap that first ladies have to do. Every time I watch her, her face has the expression "I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS SOMEONE HELP ME GET OUT".

I also wonder how she, an immigrant woman from a poor Eastern European country, feels when her hubby talks about people from "********" coming to America. Or that locker room talk... or the Stormy case.

Like I legit feel bad for Melania sometimes.

I feel like she's basically captive to an abusive monster.

Not to mention Baron, i like to imagine him during Trumps second term during some cabinet meeting after Trump unveils his latest plan looking like this:

Let's see... ABC is a privately-owned company, whose owners are rich white men who vote Republican. But I guess now they are considered "the left"?

The things I learn on this forum.

It's a fact on this forum, at least. There's a reason that word is on the autocensor list. You can take your opinions offsite if you are determined to throw insults at women.

But you didn't say "it's not okay on this forum" did you, you said "it's not okay". So yes, that is not a fact. And although it may be a fact that I'm not allowed to do it on this forum, that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to express the opinion that it is not "never okay" to do so.

There actually are some words that have a negative connotation in Canada that don't in the U.S. and vice-versa. That's why I prefer to be specific. Since North America runs from the high Arctic to the Panama Canal, it's important to specify which country you're talking about.

Yes but in this instance I was talking about the word "fanny", which you demonstrated you have exactly the same understanding of as a USAian. So in this case it was fine to lump you all in together.

Do pardon me for focusing on an incident relevant to Canada, as Ivanka plopped herself into the chair behind the desk in the Oval Office when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was visiting.

I am aware of your point, but preferred to address it in my own way.

Well given that I never said anything about the photo in question, I'll just assume you were replying to the wrong person about all this then.

It could cause a pretty embarrassing situation depending on how it’s used in a sentence if someone didn’t know that.

Well I'll never forget the episode of Happy Days where Daddy Boswell threatened to glue Joanie's fanny to the bed. I really wasn't expecting that at tea time I can tell you. I'm honestly surprised they didn't edit that out.

Pretty sure the offensiveness of the c-word is also generational. The word has been reclaimed a while ago and used as a term of empowerment and endearment. In fact, last time I went to a "Vagina Monologues" show, the women were chanting the word over and over.

Anyone more left wing than Lord Cthulhu is a part the neo-liberal leftist-commie terrorist baby-eating deep-state elite!
I still haven't received my Soros check, and I am getting impatient because of course I am a spineless unemployed brainwashed lazy auto-cannibalizing post-modern neomarxist leech who is waiting for the handouts from the government, but the rent won't pay for itself.

If it will help, I can send you one of my many Obama phones. Of course they not up to date, but are running ZTE built firmware, so you'd have to watch what you say.

OK I thought this was the case but not totally sure — Samantha Bee said this about Ivanka because she tweeted a photo with her son.

I get she’s involved with her father’s administration but they’re not the same people and this does have the effect of distracting from the real issue because someone on the left did something deliberately controversial.

Her point wasn't about Ivanka's involvement in her father's administration, her point was that Ivanka is making insipid pro-family and family-togetherness posts on instagram while her father is engaging in a government program to literally tear families apart.

Her use of the word was intentionally vile and scandalous to equal the vileness of the literal concentration camps this administration has set up to "handle" immigrant families. Bee's use of the term was unfortunate only inasmuch as it has given people writ large the license to ignore the larger point.

The left has been in a state of auto-cannibalism since 1791. A few left-wing moralists protesting the use of a naughty word, and the rest of the left going "what, seriously?" doesn't even begin to register on the scale of intra-left conflict.

(For the record, the peak of intra-left conflict was the Angolan Civil War, which was fought between two different Communist front-groups, one backed by the USSR and one backed by the PRC. Over half a million people died to figure out whether Kruschev was a revisionist.)

Ivanka Trump is literally a senior advisor to Trump. Everything she does has an effect in this administration. She is basically a second-degree politician.

Even irrelevant Instagram posts?

Exactly, so this becomes a petty jab over her Instagram posts.

I feel like she's basically captive to an abusive monster.
It's a captivity of her own making. Did she marry him at gunpoint? Did he blackmail her into it? Did he threaten her family if she didn't marry him? How could she be unaware of his past treatment of former wives and seriously think that she'd be the one to have a "happily ever after" ending, that she was somehow different?

And yeah, her entire body language just screams how much she hates having to do First Lady stuff. Unfortunately, she doesn't have the excuse of ill health to get out of it so Ivanka can just step forward and do all that in an official way (there were one or two presidents in the past whose daughters did First Lady duties because the wife was either dead or too ill).

But you didn't say "it's not okay on this forum" did you, you said "it's not okay". So yes, that is not a fact. And although it may be a fact that I'm not allowed to do it on this forum, that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to express the opinion that it is not "never okay" to do so.
How's this? It is a FACT that it's never okay on this forum. Thunderfall and the other admins said so.

It's a FACT that it is never okay with me. I say so.

Yes but in this instance I was talking about the word "fanny", which you demonstrated you have exactly the same understanding of as a USAian. So in this case it was fine to lump you all in together.
It's amazing how so many of you here keep acting like "fanny" is the word I was referring to, no matter how many times I've said it isn't.

Well given that I never said anything about the photo in question, I'll just assume you were replying to the wrong person about all this then.
There has been considerable talk about how Ivanka is undermining democracy in your country by overstepping her place. That photo is an example from a Canadian perspective. Are you trying to tell me that Americans think it's appropriate that she's sitting in on meetings with foreign leaders and posing for cutesy photos while sitting in the president's chair?

There would be an uproar in Canada if she tried to pull that <nonsense> in the Prime Minister's Office. Thank goodness Justin Trudeau's daughter is far too young to even think about such things.

Her point wasn't about Ivanka's involvement in her father's administration, her point was that Ivanka is making insipid pro-family and family-togetherness posts on instagram while her father is engaging in a government program to literally tear families apart.

In which case, why not call Ivanka a lying hypocrite and be done with it? It gets the message across and doesn't introduce an argument over whether calling the president's daughter an offensive word has put a target on every other woman as well.

It's a captivity of her own making. Did she marry him at gunpoint? Did he blackmail her into it?

Wait so a woman who ends up marrying into an abusive marriage is to blame for their husband's abuse? Is that really the standard? That seems like a really bad take, you may want to rethink this one.

Also, given how these "modeling agencies" like Trump ran purposely do things like keep foreign models out of legal immigration status in order to blackmail them into being sex slaves, and given the fact that we were promised proof that Melania was always legally in the country which was never produced?

Yeah, I actually think there is a nonzero chance she was blackmailed into it. And now she has a child to worry about.

Don't twist my words into something they don't mean. It's one thing if a woman has no idea that her future husband will turn out to be a cheat and abuser. It's another thing if she knows he will do that (based on past evidence or current experience).

I don't believe that Melania whatever-her-former-last-name-was could possibly be unaware that Trump had already had wives who were models, he'd cheated on them (marrying the mistress he'd cheated with), and discarded them when it suited him. Knowing that, she still married him. That's on her. It was a stupid thing to do, and if she expected him to change his ways for her, she was an idiot. Men like that don't change.

Trump's actions are his own. She was a fool for putting herself in the position to be harmed by them, since she married the <censored>. I wonder if the gold faucets and toilets and goofy clothes are worth it?

So you're claiming that it's a fact that he said, "Marry me or be deported"? Where's the evidence?

She married him before he went off the deep end.
