Brazil discussion thread

I also going by the logic the jungle stays. So the jungle with brazilwood camp would give 1food and 1gold.

Not a revolution, and we are hoping it replaces the market or get the same market bonus so brazil can avoid tearing down its improvement to change for markets later.

Oh well, lets wait and see.

I think the devs are setting Brazil to be a very dangerous nation

Jungles + Univerisites = A lot of science
Jungles + Brazilwood Camp thingy = Whatever (Gold and Food?)
Jungles + Sacred Paths = A lot of culture.
Jungles + Sacred Paths + Brazilwood Camp + Archeology or whatever the tech is that gives even more culture = Big amount of culture.

Yikes.

In summation:
Jungles + Univerisites + Brazilwood Camp + Sacred Paths + Acoustics = Whatever + A lot of Science + Too Much Culture

The only problem here would be about :c5production:,as cities located in jungle have the terrible tendency of having a way too slow early development . Fortunately,there's the option of importing :c5production: from other cities,but as far as I know,such option is only avaliable when the city that can export :c5production: has a workshop .

Yeah. I always have production problems with Jungle starts. I've even had an Iroquois jungle start that had bad production. I ended up cutting some nonessential jungles to get to the hills underneath.

What is the new infantry they show on the Brazil screenshot with the cargo ship? Is it Vietnam era, looks they they are holding an M-16?

Its their unique unit, the Pracinhas.

It is WWII infantry used vs Germany. Anyway hope is not lost for a more modern Cold War infantry. Although, because the paratroopers (also WWII) ups to XCOM squad, the chance is still slim.

I cannot wait for this to come out. Money is already set aside for pre order.

The problem with jungle starts is that jungle tiles take AGES to work. 11 turns on Normal speed, last I checked. Whereas a regular trade post takes nearly half that time.

I found it interesting that Brazil's architectural style is that of the (native) American civilizations. I wonder if Brazil uses European music or (native) American music.

I suspect Brazilwood is a unique luxury. It will definitely sinergize with the UA !

Oh god, it's the tulips all over again!!! :lol:
On a more serious note, I doubt they leave that "detail" out, and just mention the :c5plus::c5gold:, :c5plus::c5culture: with Acoustics. And, when compared to the rest of the UIs, it's more likely that it isn't the case. Maybe something special regarding surrounding tiles (like what the terrace farm and the moai does), but even that I doubt because, again, no mention of it whatsoever... :p

We don't know the exact details, but given that, as it stands, it seems balanced in relation to the other UIs (has around the same yield effects and whatnot), then adding a unique luxury out out every jungle would be quite overpowered. If the speculation is true and it comes early in the tech tree, then it is already quite good as an early trade post - remember when they were available at trapping? There's a reason why, when Civ V first released, trade post were built everywhere! :lol:

What could be the order that brazilian cities are settled?

Rio de Janeiro
São Paulo
Salvador (as shown in a screenshot)
Brasilia (as shown in a screenshot)
Recife? Porto Alegre? Ouro Preto? São Vicente? Porto Seguro?

Vitória (my city) may be the number 29, 30.
And how Ouro Preto will be called? "Ouro Preto" or "Villa Rica"?

I'm not so sure that Rio de Janeiro would still be the capital of Brazil,after Brasilia has been shown . It just doesn't make sense to place Brasilia as a non-capital of Brazil,mainly because that is the whole reason for its existance .

Only Brasília has barely any history compared to Rio. Rio is the traditional capital of Brazil. It was the capital until just 40-something years ago.

The problem here is: Brasilia cannot be placed as a non-capital of Brazil,because the whole reason why the Brazilian government spent an awful ammount of resources to build it was exactly to move the capital of Brazil from the southwest corner to its center . The only logical possibilities I see here are:

- Brasilia is not included and Rio de Janeiro is the capital;
- Brasilia is the capital and Rio de Janeiro is no longer the capital;

The third option,including Brasilia as not the capital of Brazil is the only one that doesn't make any sense,at all .
