Brazilia Leader and faction info

Well, all that wondering about 'The Great Mistake' can cease now. We know for certain what would drive Brazilians off the Earth as fast as possible ...

The total destruction of all things German?
I mean, they're not the ones participating in the current Seeding lore. :mischief:

We know what made Brazil so furious that they turned into military empire :D

Bolivar looks like ultimate badass.

By the way, the description says he is good at health but bad at growth. I thought health is how growth is called in BE, now I have no idea what the hell is it (or author simply messed up something)

Thanks Firaxis for some good news, God knows they were sorely needed.

The article also says that Brasilia was severely affected by the rising sea levels, which flooded Amazon, but eventually this promoted trade in the region's interior, so in the end it was not so bad as it was for the other factions. It was also the first faction to colonize a nearby planet.

I think I like it so far. Rejinaldo seems to be a nice guy, his name is quite Brazilian (long, something foreign, something Portuguese, something Tupi-Guarani), but we don't know much about Brasilia and the Organization of South American States. Can't wait for Friday!

As far as we know health is (mostly?) like happiness in Civ 5. Good health and poor growth would sugest a tendency to have many small cities with low population.

Also, the health bonus would make it easier for him to annex occupied cities, even without building whatever the BE equivalent of a courthouse is.

Cool... though a little disappointed that Latin Americans are portrayed as the militaristic faction. The damn Slavic Federation better be more militaristic for balance.

I think they did that so SMAC players would see him as Colonel Corazon Santiago' successor. Anyway, judging from his bonuses (military and production) makes me think he takes a "God is in the big battalions" approach to warfare (lots of units on the field). I am going to hazard a guess and say the Slavic Federation is going to get military and science so it can focus on smaller number of more advanced units. Now anybody wanna bet we are going to get his dev dairy this Friday? :mischief:

P.S. I also think this confirms the names Elodie and Hutama that were also extracted from the Steam achievements XML.

I could see them as a +military +science +religion -energy -production faction who have access to very powerful units but cannot make them quickly.

Now anybody wanna bet we are going to get his dev dairy this Friday? :mischief:

Yeah, they'll burn through the remaining four leaders, then talk about virtue trees or something.

I came in to make a World Cup reference, see I am beaten to it, and will leave dejected.

Good to see another faction revealed, though.

That's more of a reason of why Brazil should be in space... who knows if they're there atm.

I fear one can never be too late for that. Not in the coming weeks, years, decades... ;)

Overall, I'm satisfied with Rejinaldo's portrayal so far. Looks like they had enough presence of mind not to make him the average "Latino", as is the American media's tradition. Bonus points for the complex, unusual name as well.

Looking forward to Friday's official article, if Brasilia is what they intend to unveil next in their leader series.

Woah. When I saw him, I thought he is Cyrus temple from SR3. lol

Whoa, didn't think about that. There is a resemblance.

Agreed, now you want to bet the dev blog is going to be an excerpt from the book he wrote in-universe? :D

No, but Brazil did get jipped out this year. That's what they get for jipping out other world cups. Haha

I was more thinking Commander Nathaniel Taylor from Terra Nova. I'm obviously referring to characterisation and style than to pure looks (but Rejinaldo is definitely far more badass and fleshed out as a character).

The slow growth but high health would it make easier to annex captured cities. So it dos make sense in my view.

Also with a name this long, Bolivar being in it could be pure coincidence (just joking here, the steam achievements were probably right).

Also 3rd place (probably) is not such a bad outcome for Brazil after loosing its tactician. They will have played the maximum amount of games possible.

Random event: Happiness from stadium reduced by 4 (negative values allowed) but yield +4 gold for 20 turns.
