Mike's chilling in Mexico recovering from the gunfight. I think Mike's going to be significant in the next season. Yeah he was a hired gun, but he got on well with Gus, and I think the kicking he delivered Walt in Thirty-Eight Snub showed more loyalty to Gus than just that of an employee.

My impression is that Mike and Victor (the kid Gus killed in Box Cutter) had a sort of Walt-Jesse relationship. Mike knew Victor was a liability and was probably done after he got himself seen at Gale's apartment, his delivery of his comment to Jesse in Shotgun sounded like he blamed Walt and/or Jesse for Victor's death. "You are not the guy. You're not capable of being the guy. I had a guy but now I don't. You are not the guy." He might've just been irritated with Jesse, though.

I also applaud the use of spoiler tags in this thread, it's been really good. Much better than some other threads around here.

I must say, the show is really picking up steam again. I'm on episode 9 on season 3 (just finished episode 9) and the last few episodes were quite brilliant.

I'm going to be away from home for a week & I'm not bringing my computer with me. I expect to suffer serious Internet withdrawal but it'll be nice to have another competing force to come back to (besides family life of course, which tbh is more of a responsibility than a joy at this juncture).

That's the Fly episode, I guess they did it to save money on production. Think of it as the calm before the storm, because it will start to get very intense again.

I got to "3-10" and thought "must look that up", then I got to "terrible" and thought "oh, Fly".

It's a really contentious episode. I was bored the first time around too. There have been raves, though, so I figured I'd give it another shot... just finished rewatching it and I'm pretty sure it was brilliant. Yeah, it's a bottle episode, but you can still make a hell of a show with two characters (or three? that fly had spunk) on two sets without explosions.

My first impression was wow, Jesse has changed, a lot. It's just that more noticable after watching Jesse at the end of season four, compared to in season three, without early-season-four Jesse buffering the two.

And man, old Jesse was so great. I miss him, yo.

Spoiler Fly comments :

I see the mood of this episode as an example of good storytelling. Not despite it being slow, but by it being slow. One of the elements here is Jesse's exasperation with Walt, and his frustration with being stuck in the lab for so long. We're not just watching him get exasperated and frustrated, we're stuck in the lab with the nut and we feel that way too.

Another part's obvious, Walt apologizing to Jesse and stressing us all out about the possibility that he might say what for. It was very carefully done and completely plausible, I'd call it the third most tense moment I can think of.

(My vote for two tenser scenes - One Minute and Hank outside the RV in Sunset. Things like 4 Days Out (where the RV battery died) or Caballo Sin Nombre where the Cousins waited for Walt to get out of the shower were tense, too, but undermined by our confidence that they can't kill Walt yet. Any I'm forgetting?)

The stress of "will he say it" wasn't the only exposition. Things like Walt thinking he'd lived long enough, lines like "it's all contaminated", and just watching Jesse and Walt interact, they were significant. I'd really encourage anyone who didn't like it to watch it again. (I've started rewatching from the pilot and this is better than any season one stuff I've gotten to so far.)

My only real complaint: That's a raisin? Why is there a raisin in your ultraclean lab?

And yeah, get ready for some action.

But doesn't Don Vito Corleone survive the assassination, i.e. the first appearance of oranges in the movies? So maybe the writers made a really good homage and Ted has yet to die...
But probably not and he is just dead.

Back watching again. Perhaps the Fly wasn't so bad, they did they best they could & I suppose it was mildly entertaining.

Anyway, almost done with Season 3. Man, I don't know what Walt sees in Skyler, I don't fancy her personality at all (she's not my type physically either). But then again Walter is a very, very different fellow than myself.

Walter ratting Pinkman out to the boss (and before that considering getting him arrested), that was F-ed up.

Edit : He sure made it up for it though

That said it would have been a lot smarter to just let Pinkman poison them.

Episode 4, season 1, is especially hilarious. I think that was the only time I heard the baby cry except maybe a token wake-up-parents-in-the-mile-of-the-night scene. Of course, as soon as the locksmith left the baby immediate went back to it's turned-off state.

Season 4, Episode 3 was painful to watch. All useless drama, no action*.

*(only two things that actually happened was them getting the carwash & Hank getting the drug-lab notebook)

The whole "must acquire carwash out of family pride" made me cringe, Hank's self-pity & Marie's clepto spree also did though slightly less so. It annoyed me that the "won" in the end & got the carwash. Felt really bad for eyebrows. I really dislike the female characters on this show. Pinkman feeling sorry for himself & letting his place goto **** wasn't very endeering either. Like Lucy said the "Fly" episode may have had some artistic value but this one was just crapola.
