[BtS] Dales Combat Mod!

I have a question about Xenomorph's 3.17 version of DCM that uses Solver's patch.

According to Wolfshanze, there is a bug in Solver's code that prevents bombers from properly executing runs if a single fighter is on intercept. Was this addressed? Is it in an issue in Dale's latest release?

My apologies if this was asked and answered already.

Looks great!! One problem: I get a CtD whenever I meet a civ. It crashes after displaying the name in the score-board, but before showing the leaderhead.

It is not a problem with the leaderheads per se, they show in the civiliopedia. But I can't play for very long without meeting a civ :P

I can't find a bug thread anywhere, so I am using this thread :P

And the last 5 pages haven't yielded any results :(

[Edit]Yes... I am using 3.17[/Edit]

The contact crash was in v1.6. Did you download v1.7 yet? As there was a problem with Civ Customiser causing the contact crash. I removed it from 1.7.

Thanks. I can't download ATM (University internet costs LOTS of $$$), but I will.

Thanks for the quick reply!

That bit of Solver's isn't in 1.7. :)

Great mod Dale!!
I downloaded last week, and now I cannot stop playing it.

One question though, that I apologize if it has already been asked.
I cannot attack any other ships with my steath destroyer. Is that a mod question or a bts question. I only recently started playing civ4/bts, as my old laptop couldn't handle it, so I am very much out of the loop.

Again, great mod. Now my bombers are actually useful for my entire warplan!

That's an issue of Solver's 0.19 patch, and the DCM 1.7 fixed it. My Unofficial DCM 1.6 patch still contains this problem. I would fix it, but since Dale already released an official 1.7 patch there is no need.

 You can't. :)

I think there is a 'small' problem in stack attack... mainly for the insane bonuses the attacker gets, and the fact that all units capable of bombard ALWAYS bombard after each attack...

Basically, here is the problem. WB in 9 archers, vs. 2 modern armors (not barbarian). Declare war on that civ.

Attack the modern armors 1 unit at a time. The 9 archers will win, after only 5 or 6 attacks.

Total strength of the defending side: 80
Total strength of the attacking side: 27

Seriously... thats serious unbalanced problems. I feel like archer-rushing now...

Oh, and the AI does this 'exploit' to... on the rare occasions where you are raiding with 1 or 2 units, and the tile the attacker is attacking from either has an intercepting fighter in range, or has a siege or archery unit in range to.

Also, Horse Archers apparently can launch ranged attacks, according to thier tooltip, and the civilopedia. They can't, however.

Finally, there is another bug where, if a tank attacks a unit, and a fighter on an intercept run attacks the defending unit, but it gets intercepted (maybe not all of these need to be true, but it occurs all the time when those conditions are true), the combat 'locks' in zoomed view (the view when you can see all of 3 or 4 tiles, when combat occurs), and you have to click the minimap to un-zoom.

Just a few bugs to iron out ;)

@digitcruncher
Well it's really good to see some digit crunching happening with SA thanks digitcruncher :)

I don't have a debugger but I wonder if there is some kind of a problem with SA interacting with the inherent SA in RB. If you turn SA off and just run RB, you can still use RB units in a stack attack. So, what happens if RB stack attacks mix with the SA option in the code, causing RB units to be super powered?

Cheers.

Dale, is it possible to allow fighters boarded on a carrier to perform Fighter Engage missions? They can perform them when they're inside a city. I find it more realistic to have them perform this mission when boarded on a carrier too.

I'm sorry,I find that mod for BTS3.17 but in our country it has no chinese(simplily)for 3.17,i find the"Dale's combat Mod for 3.17" refuse run in 3.13:cry:I try to check
My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CustomAssets
but it is useless,what should I do?

I found a slight... problem with Opportunity Fire. It is a problem with the balance, and dealing with large numbers of siege units. I was playing a game today as Holy Rome and was in a bloody war with the Celts. Cities are constantly switching owners, Great Generals are being spawned faster then normal units are being created, and everything is peachy keen. Now, Boudica parked a SoD outside one of my cities, so I being in a squad of ~12 Musketmen(She doesn't have Gunpowder yet) and kill most of the normal(non-siege units). She's left with around 2 Macemen, a Pikeman, and around 14 Catapults/Trebs.

So here's what she did. Since she no longer had enough units to capture my city, she fortified all her siege units. Next turn - 4 of my Musketmen are dead, and the rest are severely weakened. I attack and kill her last 3 normal units and 2 of the remaining siege units, then the next turn, they finish off my Musketmen. Including the two guarding my city. One of her horsemen runs in, withotu fighting a single unit, and razes it to the ground, while it still has around 30% defense bonus. She never even had to kill a single unit.

Now, this was fusterating in itself. But then I realized a PC player can abuse this to take A.I. cities without even attacking the units inside. Make a SoD of say, 20 siege and 10 guards. Fortify outside of your rival's city. Watch as your siege units destroy every single unit in the city. Capture the city, move every one of your units in on the same turn, and never even enter combat once(Hence all of your units are at full health and you haven't suffered any losses).

Thankfully it's easy to turn OP Fire(thats my new name for it) off, but in the future, you might want to look at putting a cap on the damage it can do.

Sorry, but I no longer have a copy of DCM for 3.13.

Could someone upload it for this gentleman? His great country just hosted the Olympics, it's the least we can do.
Cheers.

PS) I would do it, but the only connection to the web I have is via a overly pricey mobile phone connection.

Sure, here's a copy of 1.5 for 3.13. Download
