[BtS] Dales Combat Mod!

I'm sorry. I don't think I can explain it more clear than what I have already written.

No problem Ninja;)

It was like only 4 days ago when I downloaded the mod. I practically opened every CvGame.cpp file starting from the /Mods folder to LOL every directory within the Firaxis Games folder. Does anyone else whom recently downloaded the mod see the code that Ninja2 is explaining in his post?

In the first post Dale explains where to look for the source code. As far as I know, the code IS included in the download, but I haven't checked recently. Have you figured out how to compile a new dll file? I'm just curious, since you only have two posts, and that process usually has people asking questions - no offence. ;) You need to compile a new file to fix the bug. It's not enough to just make the edit in the source file itself.

Good luck! :)

I searched everywhere within the Mods folder for the code you mentioned, and being an IT guy for 10 years in the Navy I'm embarrassed I cannot find it. I never compiled a dll file, but I routinely do html and LAN administration at work. I'm all about bombardments and not being able too with my catapults in friendly territory is killing me.

I'll keep trying or just ask some friends onboard whom may have the mod already installed. :)

Upon download, in the Archive named DalesCombaMod_v1.7_BtS_3.17 there is one folder: DalesCombatMod. Inside this, are two folders: Assets and CvGameCoreDLL. The latter is the one you want to look inside. :)

Check out this thread for instructions on how to set up the compiling process.

Hello

Does anybody know if DCM includes an up to date version of the Unofficial Patch? The readme states Solver's UOP is included as of v1.6, however I couldn't find any reference to its version.

If it's not included, could it be / would be worth for it to be merged using the tools Ninja2 linked to in this same thread?

Thanks!

@Usnab07, the piece of code Ninja2 is referring to is located in CvUnit.cpp, inside the CvGameCoreDLL folder. He probably mistyped the name by mistake. I suggest using Windows Grep for string searches, it's very effective ;)

Edit: Actually, don't mind my questions... I found another solution. Thanks anyway.

Hey,

Firstly, I apologize if it is already discussed and please point me to the right direction.

Okay, my question is: I LOVE the DCM features! So I want the mod features coded directly into the game so that when I play some other mods that don't have DCM factored in for whatever reasons, I still have DCM features in my main game options to apply to those mods?

Thanks for your replies in advance.

Forgot to update myself...

I finally got DCM to merge into my CustomAssets using hints from another mod (the one with epic research? Didn't install it but read the modder's introduction and it gave me ideas). So I am fine now. It was exhausting work but I finally figured it out. Just need to add in files in CustomAssets and add in one file alongside CustomAssets (GameCore.dll [or whatever it is spelled]). Everything is ok for the main game itself now.

Thanks for helping out anyway :-). This game really pumped in all new world of knowledge regarding XML and INI files *lol*.

In case anyone is playing DCM standalone still or if a modder wants to do a merge of DCM, a bug has been found by GatlingGun in DCM. The information is in post #931:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=262937&page=47

GatlingGun: I originally posted this in the WolfRevolution thread, but at Phungus' suggestion I tested with RevDCM v1.01 and I'm having the same problem...

I've been noticing that aircraft bombing tiles have seemingly been nerfed along the way... I have noticed this for a few months and originally chalked it up to bad dice... now I think it is a bug...

The conditions to recreate are pretty simple... start with any aircraft and bomb a mine or oil somewhere... it just never seems to succeed. I'd wager I've tried at least 40 or so missions in no less than 10 different games without a single success... Contrast this with vanilla bts, where you can get a significantly better success rate than 0 out of 40. BTW, I don't count missions where my bomber intercepts something or is intercepted...

The bug has been fixed and can be found in the source code for RevolutionDCM 102. The bug is entirely located inside the function CvUnit:airbomb()

Reply here if you really do want a standalone DCM version fixed as well.
Cheers.

thinking about adding DCM to my mod but I don't want the revolution part. :P

You should still use RevDCM. Just don't select Revolutions in the custom game setup. (that's how I will play in Quot Capita)
RevDCM is very stable, I've run some lengthy test games with Quot Capita and I'm extremely satisfied.

No thanks. I'm German and I don't want to translate the revolution part. My mod is public, so other people should don't get the revolution part either since this is not a goal of my mod.

So does this not work with the complete version of civ4? I tried installing both the combo mod pack and just casa in bts but neither work. If I don't change any settings in dales combat mod it works just fine, but obviously none of the combat mods are on. But after I turn some on (I've tried all except civ switcher and just casa) I get an error message while I load a single player game and the box comes up showing all combat mods still off. When I install just casa I get an error message when I load a single player game and it closes. I'm running vista 64 bit with the complete version of civ4. I used xml notepad 2007 run in administrator to change the values. Any help would be much appreciated, I really want to combat stack it up. Thanks.

Edit: The revolutiondcm pack works just fine along with xxl maps, very strange. I'd much rather have the option of just dcm and xxl and leave the rev stuff(maybe I'll try it later but I mostly want bigger maps, more civs, longer eras, and better combat). Don't know if any of this helps. Thanks again.

I don't think you will be able to continue a saved game from Beyond The Sword v. 3.17 in a mod such as DCM. You need to start a new game with the mod loaded.

And welcome to the forums! :wavey:

I'm starting a new game I just meant when it's loading my game. I haven't gotten more than 3 hours into a game yet because I want stack attack and playing without it kind of sucks. I haven't had a working pc in over a year and I've been looking forward to some extra large better combat style civ4, but so far no luck.

And thank you, it's good to be amongst fellow civ addicts.

Random side question, which expansion is more recent? They both have the same release date in the info thing in vista.

i started merging this into my latest BUG / BULL install. so far i've merged everything except the actual gamecore dll.

my question is which source code files in the gamecore does DCM actually touch?

Anybody? I've tried it in vanilla and warlords too, but it only works in vanilla. I'd really like it to work in bts or warlords. I'm still running it in vista 64 bit, and it's civ4 complete.
