[BtS MOD] Wolfshanze 1850-1920 Enhancement Mod v2.0

Well, I noticed a HUGE performance difference between 1.0GB and 2.0GB... odd... maybe that last 512MB of memory did the trick?

Maybe. Or maybe it's Vista's hog nature. That's the Windows OS I use.

Don't forget that the OS makes a difference in the performance.

Well yeah... Vista sucks, but we already knew that... I'll cling to XP until I simply HAVE to have Vista (I actually already own Vista sitting in it's pretty little package in my cabinet... wife installed it once on her system, then promptly uninstalled it a few weeks later and went back to XP).

Okay, I'm nearly done converting the Wolfshanze Mod "officially" from v3.13 to v3.17...

Edit:
Nevermind the rest... everything is going smooth now!

I love what you've done with the mod Wolfshanze. I got one suggestion tho. Can you replace the current Russian armored vehicle, I think its a BMP -2 with a BTR 80. The BMP - 2 looks more fight like, but the BTR 80 looks much more modern and better in my opinion.

Also is Australia included in the mod? If it isn't are there plans for it to be incorporated in the future ?

Cheers

As for the extra civs, I don't think so. I've offered my assistance so many time to add them for him with no bites.
I know how to add extra civs... I've added Austria and Poland in the past... Vietnam is getting added with the pending v2.8 release... it's all a matter if I want to add a civ or not! :p

I tend to ponder adding civs quite a bit. The Wolfshanze Mod will never be like some of the other mods with 70 civs or whatever... I'd be surprised if I reached 40.

I've got a lot of work being added to v2.8... but I'm thinking carefully of what I want in and what I don't.

Of course full support for v3.17 tops the list (and v2.8 is already up and running on v3.17 on my system).

Okay, sounds good, waiting with baited breath for this to come out.
I'm really getting tired of adding stuff... which is usually the sign the release is pending (plus I really wanted to get "official" v3.17 support out there).

Since I'm upgrading to v3.17, I'm also adding-in all my ideas that would break save-game compatibility anyways, so if all these save-game breakers go into one mod, it will be easier for future releases to all be save-game friendly for some time (the 2.8x series of the mod).

Anyways, like I said... I'm getting tired of "work" on the mod... which means I'm about ready to kick this thing out the door... expect a release anywhere from 24hrs to the middle of next week (between Sun-Wed)... somewhere around there is when you can expect a new release.

Ok, I'm ready and waiting for this. I'm eagerly looking forward to release even if I do have a new game as Arabs that I am playing at the moment. Enjoy those nations like Germany that just cruise up the tech tree once you build enough libraries, universities and academies. By 2000 I am advanced and can make a Domination victory by conquering weaker neighbours and having some vassels who cling to me to save them from becoming a part of my empire...

Wolf - installed both your mod and your 3.17 patch.

When it comes to loading it though, I can't "see" anything except the default BtS settings. No Poland, HRE instead of Austria and no extra leaders :(. What's gone wrong?

Please don't get offended if I say something that's a "DUH" thing to you, because I don't know how much you do or don't know.

I'm going to assume a few things here since you didn't explain exactly what you did to install the mod...

I'll assume you unzipped the file into the "MOD" directory of BtS... I'll also assume you followed my directions for v3.17 users to use the correct GameCoreDLL file (this will be automatic in my next release which is officially for v3.17).

I'll then assume you started the game but see nothing different?

You'll need to load the mod if that's the case... in BtS, go to the "ADVANCED" tab and select "Load Mod"... choose the Wolfshanze Mod. BtS should then restart and you'll see "Wolfshanze" in the top-right corner of the main menu... if you don't see "Wolfshanze" in the top-right corner you've done something wrong.

If all of the above doesn't apply to you, then please be more specific about what's gone wrong... if the above was the problem... well... I hope you enjoy the mod! Let me know either way.

No, no I loaded the mod and did what you suggested with the patch. It says "Wolfshanze" in the top-right corner of the screen.

I've done what you suggest. I had difficulty extracting the files to the MOD directory but managed to copy the folder manually across, if that makes a difference.

Sorry for the lack of specifics but I assumed you'd assume I'd done the relevant things to load a mod.

It's hard to assume anything from total strangers, so I usually start with the "DUH" stuff and move up from there... sometimes it's the easiest things that cause problems.

v2.73 is perhaps my most stable version ever released... though it was written for v3.13 of BtS (the temp patch does help for v3.17 though)... regardless of the Gamecore.DLL patch, if you're not seeing any new civs or leaders, then you definately have something majorly wrong on your end.

You mentioned having to "manually" copy the folders across... I suspect this is where your problem lies... if a SINGLE folder is out of place, it can cause the whole thing to go screwy on you (or do nothing at all, which may be your case). File-structure is everything, especially with the assets, art and xml folders.

It's possible you unzipped the file without keeping the folders intact, which would probably cause what you speak of.

I'm sorry if I'm not answering in the best manner... without your monitor sitting in front of my face, it's hard to do this across the internet, but I'm sure it's a simple fix... the download and mod are solid and they work... you've just got something messed-up on your end and I'm trying to figure out exactly what... my best guess is something is wrong with your file structure... if every file is just in the "Wolfshanze" mod folder, but not in separate subfolders in the correct locations, that would be your problem. Just make sure when you unzip that the file folders are kept intact.

That's my next guess without sitting in front of your computer! ;)

P.S.
I am probably a few hours away from releasing a new v3.17-specific version of the Wolfshanze Mod... however, if you can't get this version installed, you won't be able to get the new version installed either (if you install it the exact same way as the last)... so at least get this one up and running and peak around the new stuff... the new version will need to be installed the same way (except you won't have to worry about gamecore.dll files since this will be for v3.17 out of the box!).

Sorry about that. What I did was just drag the top folder from the .zip over to the MODS folder under Program Files (Drive C). When I tried to extract it didn't work, so that might have indeed messed it up. I only took the top folder out of the .zip file, contents intact, so I'll try deleting the copy and re-extracting it and get back to you.

I'm looking forward to playing your mod, but you are very prompt in giving advice :) so sorry if I sounded a bit off. It took all night to download for some reason so I'm not going to give up on it yet!!!

EDIT - tried re-extracting it and there is a problem with one or two of the files so I may just wait for the new version and see if I can get that to work. It's probably my end or the download was faulty or something like that. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you may have got a bum download... just sometimes "happens" when downloading large files. At this point I'd normally recommend you redownload fresh and start-over... but I'll have a new version up before the day is out, so you might as well wait for the new version later today...

I have to take my little ones to the hospital for some routine checkups... I'm uploading the new version to Filefront at the same time... when I get back it will be uploaded (in theory) and I'll update the downloads here on CFC with the new version (specifically for v3.17)... so you can plan on seeing the new version later this afternoon or early evening (CST-time).

Thanks - take care of them btw. It's already 8.23pm here so I guess you won't have it up before I go to bed but I can DL it tomorrow.

Available for download now... Wolfshanze Mod v2.80...
as usual, see page-1 for the new download

Okay... I have updated this mod for full support for v3.17. It is based on the very successful (and thankfully bug-free), v2.73 Wolfshanze Mod (formerly for BtS v3.13). Hopefully, by being based on v2.73, this version will also be bug-free... if it isn't, shouldn't be too hard to track down, though I have been messing with this release for at least a week and it seems pretty darn stable to me!

...If you're playing any previous Wolfshanze Mod saves... well, then you're really out of luck! You'll just have to start a new game!

This release was definitely a planned release... so I put a lot of effort into it... I didn't just spit this one out because I had a few new models... a lot of what went into this version are things I've been thinking about/wanting to add-in for some time and I think they will further enhance the mod. There's some new game changes, new unit classes, new leaders and new civs... see below for the full list of changes... there's a lot!

Just a sneak peak... here's the WWI Dreadnoughts of the Wolfshanze Mod... most of which are all new to v2.80!

Impressive list of changes - and finally Chuggi can release his version 2.1 :)

Given the number of dreadnoughts I finally know why Matt no longer is able to visit the forums, you have locked him away in your basement ;)

Yes, I sacrificed my mod for the good of the community... because I know Chuggi refuses to release his mod until mine comes out first.

He's not the only one locked in my basement! :mischief:
