Though I like how siege is significantly weaker and horse units are more critical. I'm fearing that this will just make wars more tedious, especially if the AI can wield the flanking ability well, and even more so in multiplayer :/

If by tedious, you mean "forced to use combined arms stacks", then yes. ;)

Again, is anyone willing to throw up a shot of what the BtS desktop icon looks like?

Lars_Domus, what country are you in? When did you get BtS?

I'm in Norway, though I got it early as part of a special arrangement, so I don't know if it's available over the counter around here yet.

So it appears that diverse unit graphics did not go as far as we wanted. I wish they had taken the Rise of Nations approach and projected what an America axeman would have looked like or what a Aztec Paratrooper would have looked like.

They should've at least made german infantry have gray uniforms and give soviets the t-34 as tank graphic. well, more fun for the modders!

I'm going to buy it tomorrow. Shop near my current location says it's stock! Before it, I have some questions, because I can't wait! :)

I noticed that there's still bug in tech tree, that says Fascism needs Nationalism, though it already requires it through AL, Corporation and Constitution. It's second bug (I already noticed that Civilopedia Strategy section considers Ballista Elephant as Melee unit). :)

I'm interested in Favourite Civics.
This far I've seen these Favourite Civics:

Suryavarman II (Organized Religion)
Hammurabi (Bureaucracy)
Justinian I (Theocracy)
Pericles (Representation)
Willem van Oranje (Free Religion)
Lincoln (Emancipation)
de Gaulle (Nationhood)
Boudica (Universal Suffrage)

What are the FCs of the other new leaders? Has there been changes to FCs of the existing leaders? I hope that Catherine finally favors Serfdom.

Maybe a dumb question, but I could have sworn I read somewhere that the that are required to have a certain number of walls built before you can build the Great Wall, much like the Forgotten Palace with Courthouses. Any truth to this?

I think you mean Forbidden Palace. Btw, about it, pre-release articles said that Ziggurat and Rathaus have lower FP reqs than Courthouse and Sacrifical Altar. I think that this isn't true, because they're very powerful already. Could someone confirm my thinkings?

Thanks, Thedrin.

Bad news for the Mayans...

I agree, this makes them much less powerful.

Ikhanda (Zulu UB, now gets :) from Nationhood):

I think it just means the bonus existing from Vanilla 1.00. They just show all of them in the Civilopedia (like Trait bonuses, which earlier only existed in leaders section). This can be confirmed, if someone looks to Barracks entry. If it shows the bonus too, it's like I thought.

Two questions about intercontinental expansion:

1.) Does State Property's "no distance city maintenance" trait negate the extra intercontinental maintenance fee?

2.) Will the Forbidden Palace or Versailles count as a palace for intercontinental maintenance purposes?

Thanks.

I asked it about a week earlier in other thread, and the answer I got means that answers for both 1 and 2 are no. If it isn't so, tell how it is.

In order: Moai Statues; doesn't exist (!); Security Bureau; National Park; Stealth Destroyer; Missle Cruiser; correct; Intelligence Agency; free Spy (like Fascism with Great General).

The thing you said doesn't exist is the Gameplay change: "You must research the Sailing Technology before you can trade along rivers or coast outside your borders.", I think.

Hmm. Ships of the Line look nice. What's the point of building a Frigate now, though? Just the extra movement?

It's even better with Vikings, did anyone else notice? Trading Post SoL is as fast as normal Frigate. And 4/5=0,8 (Trading Post units) and 3/4=0,75 (Normal units), meaning that Vikings are the ultimate civ in late-Renessaince naval fights. About the point, if game speed was Normal, SoL costs 33% more. Also, they're equally powerful against Privateers, Galleons, East Indiamans and Ironclads, just to mention units of their time. So SoL is only better against Frigate, and you now have much trouble with Privateers. For last, SoLs come later than Frigates.

Things I'd want to have answered:
- "Rule Changes" says that Samurai now starts with Drill I? Does it have 2fs still too? Is it like Gallic Warrior (meaning Drill II-IV would be available to Melee units)? Could someone post Civilopedia entry for it?
- Has Accuracy been nerfed? If not, it's the ultimate promo to Catapults!
- Barracks and Airport provide +3XP, has Drydock been changed from 4XP to 3XP too?
- Has Broadcast Tower cost been changed to 180?
- What tech does Security Bureau need to build (it was said that IA needs Communism)?
- Is Military Academy now better (for example, +100% MUP and +4 culture), considering that it now comes later?
- Does Scotland Yard need any tech to build in addition to Great Spy?
- Why Slavery now has Medium upkeep? Does anyone have a good reason for this change?
- Do Broadway and Rock'n' Roll now need Music, or Broadway and Hollywood Drama?
- What Flanking promos do to Flank attack? It seems very powerful!
- Does War Elephant need HR too, or is it just Ballista Elephant? I think both require it.
- What's the damage cap of Trebuchet?

For last, could someone post Feitoria entry?

If by tedious, you mean "forced to use combined arms stacks", then yes. ;)

No, by tedious I mean "it will now take 54621344 (exaggeration) catapults to take down heavily defended cities."

I like the new flanking ability a ton, but in combination with the siege cap I think it might be a bit too overwhelming a cost to take a single city, and swordsmen with city raider promotions won't do much against my opponents capital city where he is walled up with 10924688 archers in the wake of my stack. And I'm sure he won't neglect launching as many horse archers as he can get at a time to overwhelm whatever spear men I have brought along, and of course there is luck to consider. So, if only couple horse archers actually achieve victory that weakens my catapults pretty well, and makes it even less possible to reach the catapults' damage cap. AND this is all assuming that my enemy doesn't have catapults or even war elephants to deal with.

I'm not so much worried about the impact this has in SP as much as the impact it has in MP, in which you don't have the production and time to build the perfect stack.

Yeah its really a bug. Because Im playing marathon its tripled both the unhealthiness and tripled the time. On normal it would be 8:p for 8 turns (decreasing to 7:p after 1 turn etc.)....harsh but possibly fair. This is just like a launching a nuke, but better...

EDIT2: I've reported this in the bugs forum.

No, I think it stayed the same (the last screenshot is as far as Ive got).Maybe different shaped flag/banners for different nations.

EDIT:Oops, as pointed out by Ixnay, they do change.Too busy trying to take everything else in, I didn't notice.....

I think it should be 8 unhealthiness for 24 turns, decreasing after every 3 turns, if it would have been made correctly.

What are the FCs of the other new leaders? Has there been changes to FCs of the existing leaders? I hope that Catherine finally favors Serfdom.
- Charlemagne: Vassalage
- Darius: Free Religion
- Sitting Bull: Environmentalism
- Zara Yaqob: Theocracy
- Gilgamesh, João, Pacal, Suleiman: Hereditary Rule
Additionally, Catherine's favourite civic is still hereditary rule.

Sure thing, see attachments. It's indeed like with the Gallic Warrior - Drill I isn't available to Melee Units, but the rest of the line is.

- Barracks and Airport provide +3XP, has Drydock been changed from 4XP to 3XP too?

Drydock gives 4 XP.

- Has Broadcast Tower cost been changed to 180?

Broadcast Towers cost 175 :hammers: .

- What tech does Security Bureau need to build (it was said that IA needs Communism)?

Democracy.

- Is Military Academy now better (for example, +100% MUP and +4 culture), considering that it now comes later?

No. It's +50% MUP and +3 culture.

- Does Scotland Yard need any tech to build in addition to Great Spy?

No.

- Do Broadway and Rock'n' Roll now need Music, or Broadway and Hollywood Drama?

No to all.

- Does War Elephant need HR too, or is it just Ballista Elephant? I think both require it.

Both types of elephant require HR.

- What's the damage cap of Trebuchet?

75%

For last, could someone post Feitoria entry?

Of course, see attachments.

I don't know what you're getting at, but the Ikhanda did not get a Nationhood happiness bonus in Warlords, and that was generally considered a bug.

Agreed completely. As I said, its in the bug reports forum.

I agree. Even though its my first game with BTS, this combining with every city you try and take now being whipped down to pop 1, means its MUCH more effective to just build cities yourself quickly at the start, and then defend them well. The combat has been interesting, but the ai has been building SO many troops, and forcing me to do the same, that yes, it has become tedious, and all it really changes from Warlords, is that you get Warlords in relative terms quicker.

Im sorry, to say this but moving spies around all the time, is also very tedious. I've already found myself thinking "oh just stay there, I can't really be bothered with you"....not being negative, its a great game, just a few aspects Im not sure on yet. The Apostolic Palace is a little disappointing too. You can't really propose anything yourself, you just have to pick one from a randomly produced list, so "Crusades" aren't up to you if it doesn't offer that option.

Anyhoo, not to put anyone off at all, just as normal, a few things seem ironing out.

If you the AP leader and are at war the next time a vote comes around, you can propose a resolution for all AP member civs to declare war on your enemy (alternatively, if your enemy is an AP member, you can also propose a resolution to end the war)

Edit: Blast! Can't get ImageShack to show me the images.

Anyway, this post was going to be about how the AI now uses workboats to explore the world and how barbarians often leave their workers lying around for you to snatch.

Around every second time i build a wonder the game crash wonder the movie pop up. Tt did not do that on Warlords, a new thing for me atleast.. I know it can be turned off, but i wanna se it he he

Abit annoying

Sorry if someone posted about it..

One question: the info center says that there are 8 new wonders... but only 7 has been showed so far. Is there an extra one? Also, which technology do you need to have acess to the Moai statues? (one of the best wonder addition ever).

Wonders are:
Apostolic Palace
Cristo Redentor
Mausoleum of Maussollos
Moai Statues
National Park
Shwedagon Paya
The Status Of Zeus
Plus corporations.

The Moai Statues require sailing.
