BUFFY & HOF Mod Releases

Since you know a bit about different Assets. If some XML files are missing from BTS (and I know they are missin) do the expansion game takes its lacking XML files from other Assets, especially if there were no updates.
BTS is an expansion so it requires Vanilla to work. The BTS assets just have what's new/different.

Thank you. That helps me to find the right XML files. I had the hunch that worked like this, but I did need a confirmation.

Hello.

I have BtS patched and Buffy installed. Everything works fine there.

However, I am trying to install the HOF mods for vanilla and warlords and encountering some issues. From the in game menu in warlords I told it to check for updates and it said there was none. However, once I installed the HOF mod for warlords and ran the game it told me the games would not be accepted by HOF and thus WotM. So I tried to manually install the latest patch from the Patches link on the CF homepage. Part way through the installation it tells me that Warlords isn't installed... It definitely is installed, as my copy of the game is the CivIV Complete release and I am able to open warlords.

Is there a solution to this? I just wanna WotM and GotM  Please note I am mostly computer illiterate, so I may be omitting pertinent details out of ignorance.

You want to make sure you done the first two procedures noted on the Vista\Win7 Fixes. If that doesn't help, try running the Assetchecker and post you results if it doesn't make sense.

That appears to have worked. I went through those fixes once upon a time on this laptop for BtS, but I didn't realize I had to do them separately for Vanilla and Warlords as well.

I need help with the Vanilla HoF mod.

This has happened in the last two GoTMs:

When I go to the city screen, the most of the UI is missing. For example, in this game, I took Timbuktu and the UI city screen would not appear when I clicked on the city. It will go to the satellite view, but no UI. NOTE THAT THIS IS SIMILAR TO THE SCREEN YOU GET WHEN YOU RIGHT CLICK ON THE

If I go to the next city Djenne and arrow to Timbuktu, it shows Djenne's city UI. Same for another city. Photos below. This happening in a current GotM in my NE city and I want to choose my specialists.

Any suggestions?

First screenshot is a regular view of the land for comparison:

Did Timbuktu had the G library in that game maybe?

Try to disable the specialist stacker in the Hof mod options.

That worked for me ;).

WW, you are the man! Both instances I had the GL and NE.

Thank you.

You can download them here.

Thank you. The assets checker now lists no errors anymore, but I still am not allowed to open GotM saves. I will return to the GotM forum to seek a resolution to my issue.

Appended: It seems I can't play HOF-valid on BTS, since it claims the assets are different from a standard install. Civ4 Vanilla works fine. I may need to reinstall apparently.

I bought Civ IV and both expansions on Steam, and now I'm trying to run the BUFFY mod, it goes to load the mod like it does for BUG, etc. but then it shows a pop-up that says the game is already running, and nothing happens after that. This is after following the first 2 steps of the Vista/Win7 fixes, doing everything but creating a second administrator account, since this doesn't seem to have to do with permissions.

Is there a way to launch Civ IV with BUFFY already running (I can launch it with BUG since it created a start menu icon, something like that maybe?)?

Not sure that it will solve your problem, but to run BUFFY directly you can create a new shortcut with the following target:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod= Mods\BUFFY-3.19.003
(making sure that the Game-Folder is correct ... ;) )

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod="\BUFFY-3.19.003\" got it to work right for me. Thanks for the help!

I got a question about the way the combat odds are calculated.
I suspect there's a mistake somewhere which BUFFY imported from BULL.

I posted this in a War Academy thread. I know you guys are great on those things, please let me know.

I got wind of a new BUFFY version coming out.
So many questions.

When?

What's new/included?

After release, how long will the previous BUFFY be valid? This is important to me because I have a very long Score game in progress.

Can I help test it?

Should we start a thread on it?

A new BUFFY is above my pay grade. But...should a situation arise where a long game is started with a valid mod, but finished after a new mod, it will still be eligible. Preliminary saves may be needed at some point before the mod becomes obsolete if the submission is likely to come after that mod becomes obsolete. (i.e. grandfather clause)

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the thread, discussing the new BUFFY, so I post here.

What I'd be really glad about, would be, if BUFFY could check if an AI has a new tech. It shouldn't show when AI is willing to trade it only, but already show it, when AI still doesn't want to trade it. The message could be something like "Mansa Musa has just researched Currency" or similar.

Hope this isn't too difficult to implement.

If this is already integrated in the new BUG mod, and BUFFY get's what BUG can, forget it plz :) .

The new BUFFY mod (.004) was in-process last fall and when I ran into C++ problems. I put it on the backburner until recently when the Espionage culture issue came up. It has the BUG and BULL version from around Oct 2012. The only thing new beyond that is some logic to tally the Spy related culture in cities. (I am not really talking any new requests. ;)

I still have a couple bugs to workout but we will be getting a few people to try it out a beta version to help us test for any issues. (Yes, @WastinTime, you can help test if you want.) After that we will release it to the community and make it the current mod.

We generally allow 2 updates for people to make the transition to a new mod. As mentioned above, we can deal with really long running games started in the old mod on an exception basis.

Note: you wouldn't be able to open a game started in .003 with the .004 mod. But you can have multiple versions of the mod on your machine and switch between them as needed.

P.S. Don't tell the Civ5 folks but this has priority over BNW. :mischief:
