Bug reports and technical issues

I found this extreamly game breaking. An event comes where Portuguese traiding company demands your city. I dont know if AI is smart enough to press no-option but it will only delay inventiable. Your civilization will be annihilated Portuguese stack of doom.

I assume you're playing Kongo? If the Portuguese trading company conquerors get there soon after you've spawned, (which shouldn't be happening too often) then you're screwed. However, you should have enough time to build up and expand so you can actually fight them off.

I was playing with Mongolia (600 AD map) and I noticed that my "Raze 7 cities" UHV didn't count all the 18 cities I have razed. I've reached the other 2 conditions but this one wasn't working.

Yes, there is a bug. I'll commit a fix to the SVN soon.

Slaves are not workers in the true sense. They can either build a special slave plantation on a resource which could otherwise only have a plantation (for +1 hammer and +2 commerce over and above the regular plantation), or they can be sacrificed in a city for +20 hammers worth of production, or (Aztec only I think) they can be sacrificed for +1 happiness in a city for 5 turns.

But as you can see I dont have construction button for slave plantation. Even when I have a normal plantation I still dont have a button to upgrade it.

I reinstalled DoC and placed newest SVN file. I have windows 7. Is it possible that I have a hidden copy somewhere or why I cant build a slave plantation? Also when I have slave in city I dont have extra buttons to sacrifice it.

Im puzzled what is missing?

It's Leoreth's new verson of the conqueror event, for all colonial civs versus their historical colony locations. They get it once they build a trading company.

That event is complitely AI killer. Portuguese has superior units and lot of them. As a player you can survive but it will be difficult. I even had good relations to Portugal but looks like there is no way to avoid it.

I guess Leo is trying to present creation of Angola but Angola should not be in Congo. I actually bothered to look Rhyes map and noticed that Congo-river is too south so there is no place for historical Angola.

You're probably missing a specific civic. You need slavery, mercantilism, or agrarianism.

Sub-Saharan African slaves cannot do any thing except for get sold. Makes sense in my opinion.

Leoreth, I was trying to add a small commerce modifier to Factories by modifying the XML and ended up doing this.
Spoiler :

The line I was altering was <CommerceModifiers/> which I changed to <CommerceModifiers>10</CommerceModifiers>
Would you mind telling me where I went wrong and how to do it right?

Eh what?

I have settled Durban on the Gold in South Africa, killed some Impis and got a slave unit as a result, and used the slave just fine to build a slave plantation on the Sugar.

How do you mean that sub-Saharan slaves cannot do anything?

Sub-Saharan Civilizations. You can't use slaves for anything but commerce as Kongo, Mali, Ethiopia.

Seriously how many "small changes" there are in game that players dont know because they are not written anywhere?

Shouldn't most of them be written in the txt changelog in the mods folder?
I do think that 1.10 suffers from feature creep a bit and find 1.9 to be preferrable. Congo is the only addition I like.

Congo is really the only civ that has the potential to be wiped out by a Trading Company event. Perhaps human Congo should be prevented from having that event thrust at them until a certain date.

To create slaves, you need to have a city in Sub-Saharan Africa and run the Forced Labor civic. A detailed explanation is in the Concepts section of the Civilopedia.

There isn't except hoping they choose a different target, but you know it's coming and it's not too hard to defend against it. Your UU is strong against muskets.

CommerceModifiers are for changing commerces, i.e. gold, science, culture, espionage, and it expects a list of values of each of these in <iCommerceModifier> tags. I'm surprised that the game was actually able to parse your XML as it was. Look up a building that changes one of these values to see how it should look like. Raw commerce is a yield, so you should look up yield modifiers instead.

I suppose you weren't playing Mali/Congo/Ethiopia there? Slaves created by these civs shouldn't be able to do this.

I usually don't document all bug fixes or balancing changes such as hidden modifiers. Actual features are always documented.

Minor bug, Chola's portrait is oversized in the foreign advisor.

Also, it's a pity ethiopia can't use slave plantations. AFAIK, slave-exporting civilizations also tended to use them domestically.

I was recently attempting a Phoenicia UHV in version 1.10 (non-svn), and after successfully completing the first two goals, completed the 5000 gold goal....with 1600 gold. Not sure if this has already been fixed in svn, but thought you might want to know. Sadly, I have no saves, as I cleared out my cluttered saves folder without thinking.

Yeah, SVN/later uploads of 1.10 already have a fix for that.

I think that the Arabian UP has been nerfed so that new cities only get Temples, is this correct?

The Civilopedia still says that conquered cities get both Temples and Cathedrals however.

If the Tibetan capital ingame is called Rasa, why does the UHV condition call it Lhasa? It is quite confusing. Made me check if I had founded my capital on the correct spot.

Here are some new bugs I've found. Keep in mind that I'm using VD.

1. For some reason the graphics for the spy, worker, and settler don't look "modern" until I reach the Information Age. They look medieval even in the Industrial and Atomic ages.

2. The pikemen unit for the Italian civ appears as three red spheres instead of 3 soldiers.

3. This is not really a bug but I noticed that a big chunk of the civlopedia is left out in DoC. A lot of the entries have hyperlinks to other entries but some don't work because of the omitted civlopedia sections. Could you please re-implement those entries?

4. Whenever I build the Apostolic Palace and I'm elected as the leader, the game never prompts me to choose resolutions that will be voted on. Instead a few turns go by and before you know it the next elections are taking place.

My general practice is to call cities by their standard English names in the UHV texts, for example the Moorish one's refers to Qurtuba as Cordoba and so on.

I've already fixed that, download VD again.
