A 16-year-old Australian boy, Casey Heynes, who has been picked on his entire life for his weight, finally had enough when another kid started punching him in the face, and his WWE-worthy response was captured on video and posted to YouTube and Facebook, where kudos and support for the way he fought back have been pouring in.

According to a Facebook posting, Heynes was suspended from school for the incident. There is no word on whether or not the bully was punished for his role in the fight.

Caution: video might not be for the squeamish. Full of Charlie Sheen-approved justice though.

Does the punishment fit the crime? Was there even really a crime? When a fight occurs in a school, should both parties be suspended or only the instigator?

Was there even really a crime?

Yes. Schoolyard bullying should not be trivialized.

When a fight occurs in a school, should both parties be suspended or only the instigator?

I'd say both parties, though the instigator should be punished far more than the defender.

Been bullied myself, I'd sympathize more with the victim.

Chuck Norris just lost his job...

THAT WAS AWESOME!!!! MORE AWESOME THAN CAPSLOCK!!!

I want to be that guys friend. Stupid smaller kid.. obviously egged on by others. It was a group bullying the kid.. hence it being caught on tape.

His name should be suppressed. This is unrelated to the point of the thread, but there is an absolute epitomisation of the difference between the SMH and the Murdochian Telegraph in their respective articles on the matter. SMH, names not released, faces blurred. Telegraph, they expose the guy to the world and ask people to email in about how he's been bullied. Making it so public could do untold psychological damage to him.

Anyway, on the point of the thread. I think the punishment does fit the crime. Schools are very specific about this, and the punishment would be the same (or worse) in any other situation at any government school. You cannot either condone violence of any sort, or be seen to condone violence of any sort. Even if there may be a distinction to be made between the violence exhibited by the bully and that exhibited by the guy being bullied, you cannot tacitly accept either in a school environment. That would be very dangerous.

An lay open the abuse of the excuse "he hit me first"

I swear the idiot bully was smiling at the end...

he should be thumped some more.

To be fair, I think it was trying to play off the fact he was probably about to start crying.. (not that I condone any of his actions)

He deserved that.
EDIT: 1st comment on video: "I expect Casey walks away from explosions in the same nonchalant manner. ". LOL

Honestly, the fat kid's a hero. He exercised duty to retreat, then stood his ground, then kicked his ass.

Side note: I really, really hate that the website linked plays a 15 second advert before the video, when all they did was steal the content off youtube.

I think they were trying to provoke a violent response; if so, they succeeded, and had a good laugh. If not, the fatty will be shunned even more as word gets around of the incident, as he has now made a name for himself as a violent moody loner.

I'm surprised that the bully's brains were intact after that.

The victim must have not slammed the bully on that concrete as hard as it looked, because that was extremely dangerous. It would have been a shame if he accidentally killed the kid and received criminal punishment for excessive use of force or something. He probably needs punishment, even if just minor, just to know that while defending yourself is okay, what he did was probably too much.

As satisfying as it is to see the kid body slam the bully, he really does need to be suspended. If the bully ISN'T though, I'd raise hell with the school board.

What is hillarious and satisfying is when the injured bully is trying to stand up

If the bully ISN'T though, I'd raise hell with the school board.

Hence a zero tolerance on bullying should be in order, if the school did not implement one in the first place.

The bullied kid deserves no punishment. He was provoked. That much was clear. The rest was self-defense.

How schools excuse bullying is very sad.

DT, you know darn well most school admins turn a blind eye towards bullying. I learned that the only way to stop the bullying was to hurt the bully.
