C2C - Event Ideas

First there are complains that they spawn too little, now too much - I cannot get it right it seems :p

Frankly, some changes I made probably increased the spawning rate for new volcanos by a lot, so I'll tune that down, but I won't get a chance to do so in the next two weeks, I am afraid. As for resources: they should span on obsidian and sulphur, if they spawn on anything else its a bug, and please confirm that they do so.

In my current GEM game, I've had them spawn on an Iron resource, and a fish resource (thus making Rome, no longer a coastal city).

I'm not sure of another resource it replaced, but it replaced the resource beside Rome in the GEM scenario.
 
With volcanoes, the comments being generated are fairly much the ones that come with any bad event and are why bad events are generally removed. It upsets peoples plans!

I also don't think they should be limited to only visible/owned spaces. I say let them happen in the darkness as well!

I think the issue is that the Volcanoes in C2C and the events related to them only simulate major eruptions, like Mt St Helens for us Americans, I don't know what you've had for eruptions down under.;) I think we need a new event which simulates the minor eruptions or small lava flows, as well as an event which can create a new island.

As for determining where volcanoes spawn, AIAndy was saying that it would be possible to pass the heightmap generated by mapscripts to the DLL. This may make possible a better method of having events spawn volcanoes, but I don't understand the whole issue that well, so you might want to ask him.

Could you please merge the Tornado event into your files. It is currently in the folder Modules/Resources/NewResources and the files starting Tornado_. The terrain art is already in the core. I think it still needs the event image stuff. Thank you.

I looked at the animated graphics for earthquake and blizzard. I was not impressed with th first and I could not tell which plot was affected with the second as it covers many.

for now, here's one of the many no-explanation things I have encountered -- the bottom option is unavailable because we don't have Mass Media researched, but it gives no reason why the middle option is not available(perhaps 2 million gold is not enough?)

@Ori everything has just gone "pear shaped" here. My brilliant idea for "fixing" the Volcano events was to
1) remove the messages from the event triggers and put them into the python
2) only send the messages to human players that could see the plot and do animations only then also.

Would you be able to do this?

The animations are all in the event python anyways - so I am not sure what you did differently. I will have some rather limited time next week to look into this and will try my best. Sorry to be mostly inactive, but RL has its ways to keep me off the game quite efficiently currently...

All I was going to do was go through each human player and check that the plot was visible to them before sending a message. That way the player triggering the event wont get a message if they can't see the plot and other players will get a message if they can see the plot. Not sure what would happen under multi player however.
 
This event does not belong in this mod. It is blatant prejudice and bias. And as such is inflammatory and denigrating. Please remove it.

I am sure that when ever I have had that event it says Kemetism not Christianity. I think the text may be based on your leader's favorite religion. You can also get that event multiple times which makes no sense.

Change the text to 'our glorious Faith' rather than the actual name of your state religion. Also I agree that it should be a one-off event.

And make it not fire if you don't have a state religion. Although I think that it would probably be better if we just removed that event entirely.
 
The whole premise is bad. The "xxxplacereligionherexxx" wackos (derogatory name calling) and then giving a free library in every city vs 1 happy face in every city for 10 turns is in itself a prejudice and a very lopsided deal. Plus the "salt and Burn" is also derogatory and filled with prejudice.

You can get it with Free Religion too.

It's just a plain Bad Event that does nothing but stereotype, instigate prejudices, and displays bias in some of it's worst forms. It needs to go.
